Rossi P2!

I think he could be faster if Dovi wasn't in front of him in that final sector,

Can Rossi finally challenge the top boys tomorrow? I didn't watch the qualy, but I would be thankful if someone could explain what's Rossi's form this weekend. Good job on P2.

Drying track, last over the line job.

JLo went to early.

Well that was a messy qualifying session. So much traffic.

I think he might challenge for at least podium tomorrow but he does not look consistently fast.

I think the track is pretty dry even before Lorenzo's attempts. They went faster than their previous time all weekend  but maybe because of the more favourable track temp.

Disagree there, I think the biggest balls took pole.

I think Pedrosa was last over the line but failed to improve substantially.

So would he have gone that quick if he was on the track at the same time as Lorenzo or if he hadn't messed up his first lap and saved his tyres?

I think he can given Lorenzo went faster than all his previous times but no way for me to prove and no way for you to prove otherwise.

I know that, but my point stands that being last over the helped them beat Lorenzos time, JLo F'd up, its his own fault he went out earlier that the rest.

Marc wasn't last over the line, neither was Rossi, both of them were faster than Jlo, and Marc crossed the line what, a total of 10 seconds after Rossi? I can see how much of an advantage he had there.

Explain Pedrosa then.

Explain Pedrosa then.

Not really sure where to start, used his tyres on his first run unlike Marc who made a mistake?

Or would the 8 years on the best bike with not much to show for it, getting beat by a rookie, going into his shell every time something bad happens to him excuse do?

So Marc making a mistake and having only one shot is an advantage now? Come on mate.

From Lorenzo himself:

“But the other riders also did very good laps. Marquez a 2m 0.0s. A very good time. Cal and Valentino also. They were very fast for most of the track like me, but at those corners they were faster. More brave.”

Getting a wee bit concerned for Scott Redding's chances of the Moto2 title. The momentum seems to be with Pol now. 7 places behind on the grid will be another big ask.

In 2013 all Pol Espargaro's wins have come from pole positions, and all his pole positions have been converted into wins. Weird.

I'm worried for Redding's championship hopes but he's lucky not to have a stronger rival than Pol.

Allow me to pollute the forum with more bollocks...

When the bike works the way Rossi wants it to, he can perform at his best, and that the case for every rider on the grid. One of the biggest weak points of the '13 Yam has been braking, and that's always been Rossi's strongest point. With the universal complaints about the poor braking performance of the M1 since mid-season or so, yamaha has most likely been bringing new bits to help with that, making it easier for Rossi's crew to find a setting he likes.

Remember, Rossi was simply incapable of breaking into the top 6 in qualy in the first part of the season while Lorenzo and crutchlow were vying for pole positions. Now he can qualify within two tenths of the pole (see last race) and has been there or thereabouts for several races now, damned near always in the top 6. This sort of qualifying performance from Rossi isn't new and shouldn't be surprising anybody anymore. He has also been very strong during the practice sessions and warmups in the recent races, which he didn't come close to achieving earlier in the year.

Silly me... I was the lone voice saying it's really about the bike and less about age. Isn't he older now, compared with the start of the season?

The two most outrageous things I seem to have said on here are that Rossi's struggles at yamaha were down to the bike, and that Stoner would have won several more races had he stayed with Ducati. Took a couple years, but we have now seen Rossi struggle week in, week out to make the top 6 on a race-winning bike. Keep watching this space...

We know you do not like Marquez, so that has discredited your position greatly.

Well,

I'm surprised you guys don't get the point of that penalty... a genuine slap on the wrist.

You've seen it over and over, and heard it reiterated after that incident... He continues to ride as if he were alone, completely failing to leave any margin for the bike he's following.

If it was about keeping the championship alive, they would have handed him 2 more penalty points, instead of just 1, sending him to the back of the grid.

No, what I have seen is Marquez's high-risk riding style leading him to make mistakes. How long have you watched Marquez race? One of the main reasons he's so good is his braking technique which is often quite out-of-control until he grabs it back at the last second. In the case of Pedrosa incident at Aragon he obviously lost control - it was a genuine mistake, and these things happen when racing is as close as it is. The only way Marquez is going to stop riding on the limit is if he slows down, and with the way he's leading the championship in his rookie year, that is never ever going to happen. No penalty points will change anything, what works for Marquez works.

Soooooooo, if an incident happens during the "out of control" part of his braking it;s a genuine mistake and ok if an incident occurs cos that's the way he rides?

Just asking, like.

Marquez is not *out of control* - he's faster on the corners than the other riders.  If he really was out of control, he'd be falling off at every race and he isn't.  The only change will are likely to see, is Marques pissing off into the distance from the start and leaving the others to pick over the pieces.  Then we will be hearing that the races are boring.

He's faster into and out of corners but I don't think Marquez is fastest in the middle of them

Rabat seems to have been the strongest rider for the second part of the season, and isn't completely out of it yet. I have my
fingers crossed for Scott, but he's not making it easy for his fans. Let's hope for another opening lap like last time.

Rabat has really upped his game this year. I'm very impressed and I think he'll be a serious contender next year for the title.

Wait for Japan, the incentive for him to win there may help :)

Holy crap, massive Moto2 crash could have been horrible. Fortunately all reported okay.

Again MotoGP feed very good. Did not show replays until all confirmed okay.

What an amazing sequence of racing between Marquez and Lorenzo. For about 3 laps I forgot to breath.

After an F1 race I was completely disengaged in, this is great stuff

I don't think Mark can catch Dani to take the win here, and Lorenzo looks to have settled into 3rd, but what a race so far!!

Nothing has happened for the last 10 minutes!

Either no midcard overtakes or they are just not showing them.
