Anyone caught site of the Atlas F1 banner or clues as to the presence of any of our forum members? Any forum members posting from the track have any on-the-ground insights?

Wasn't AtlasF1 started in Austin back in the 1990s?

LH didn't use DRS all the way down to the esses, like FER and RBR are doing.

McLaren seems very unstable compared to the FER and RBR.

So does anyone have any stats as far as average speed and percentage/time spent at full throttle, and compared to other tracks on the calendar?

Whoops, just restarted. We have Kovi limping back to the pits with the camera pointing out the back.

Do you think Kovi will make it back into the pits before the race on Sunday, if not that could really hamper his chances...

With that giant tower in the infield, this is one of the tracks they could actually have them.

That is an awesome article, thanks. I wonder what the real data are as opposed to the sims. Would show how good their sims are eh?

Edit: Is there a table with all the tracks and entries for the avg speed, number of gear changes, % time at full throttle, and stats like that, but for every track?

Edit2: The Article says 196 km/h race avg speed and 205 quali.

Based on the current time at the top of the leader board, I have

(5.516 km / 97.716 s) * 60s/m * 60 m/h = 226.38 km/h avg speed.

Is my math correct?

Anything can happen as history has shown. Slow start, engine failure, crash on reconoissance lap, spin on warm up lap, crash under yellow flag, puncture, KERS failure, crash with a backmarker, alternator failure, pit stop blunder, etc, etc, etc.

I'll willingly tip my hat to Vettel today. Sat in the garage for a good while and then just enters the scene with that time! Since it's Vettel, I'll mention that it is Friday and no-one knows fuel levels etc....;)

Lotus are quick I think, and also McLaren's long-run looked really good for both drivers.

Very impressive from Sebastian so far. Reliability issue is a bit of a concern but I'm sure they've fully rectified it.

Only two sessions and I think I've seen 10 weekends worth of drivers gesticulating and generally having trouble with slower traffic.

Should be an entertaining race :cat:

Yeah, he's looking really strong - but track might still change a bit, to favour Ferrari (I hope, lol).

Yes, by just keeping last year's rules the RB8 wouldn't even be close to ... wait a moment ... wasn't it RB which initially suffered from rule changes?

No, it was McLaren.

The only rule change McLaren suffered from was the more stringent test on bending front wings. McLaren scr%w ups failed to get the best car of the season to the top. Red bull took until japan to get really back on top.

not a fan of Hilke-dromes but this one looks like a good track- lots of bits from elsewhere.
