So JGR is building engines again? I thought they switched to TRD last year. And if I read it correctly, KBM is strictly a Truck Series operation. They no longer field NNS cars (the 54 now is JGR). Right?

Hmm. I do know Parker Kligerman will be running a KBM NNS car (#77), and that the number 54 has been given to Gibbs.
Engines? No idea. I'd say they're all TRD units. Kyle just gets them for free now. Maybe.

"Dancia takes the pole from Stenhouse!"

And so it begins.... Posted Image

Kligerman in the 77 is the NW KBM team.

Also, Gibbs said that plans for Bubba Wallace will be announced soon.

Krista Voda: Thanks DW, yes after Ricky Stenhouse Jr and Danica's earlier tangle, she has just reported to Crew Chief Tony Gibson that her rear end is only getting looser as the evening progresses.
Gibson responded by thanking her for the text, but she should probably rest up for the race on Sunday and he hopes they enjoy the rest of their evening at the Olive Garden. Over to you Mike.

Roush looking for Bayne to be full-time in Sprint Cup by 2014.

CONCORD, N.C. -- Roush Fenway Racing's goal is to put Trevor Bayne in a full-time Sprint Cup ride by 2014.

Bayne has run a part-time schedule since 2011 when he kicked off the season winning the Daytona 500 in the legendary No. 21 Wood Brothers car.

He will run another part-time schedule for the Wood Brothers this season as well as a full Nationwide Series schedule for Roush Fenway Racing.

Bayne's contract is with RFR, which supplies engines and chassis to the Wood Brothers.

Team owner Jack Roush said if he can work out the finances and sponsorship issues toward the end of this season the plan is to put Bayne in Cup full time next year.

http://espn.go.com/r...sprint-cup-2014

That would open up the Wood Bros PT ride if everything works out.

They'd be at Outback. It's the official Casual Dining Partner of Stewart-Haas Racing.

The sad thing about this is, I can't tell if you're joking, or there actually IS an official Casual Dining partner

OLB where you been? What say you on Piket in Nationwide?

Been super busy. It's a situation of convenience. I think he'd prefer to stay in Trucks and contend for a championship first but the Nationwide is the opportunity that was presented to him to get a full season in a NASCAR touring series so he has to take it.

Riverside 1963. Scott has flat-towed his race car the 3000 mi. from VA to CA with a 1955 Packard Clipper. Note that the race car is crammed full of luggage and stuff.

I don't know if any of you guys are newcomers but if you don't know, read up on Wendell Scott.

Anyone else disappointed they dropped the Nationwide race in Montreal? Was one of the best NW races of the season last year T_T

One of?

It was the second best Nationwide race last year, and has been THE best in multiple past years.

I'm wondering how many will agree on which was the best?

To be fair if any two drivers were dating we'd be talking about it. It's good dish. For example, if Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon were dating we'd be talking about that as well...

There was a time when a story had to be made because Jeff wasn't dating. He said something in his first victory lane that apparently sent his PR handlers heads spinning

Harvick would probably call Delana over to beat him up, she'd probably do a better job of it than Kevin too !

Far be it for me to be cynical, but the whole Ricky & Danica thing is very convenient to keep her name in the media...

Saw a program recently about the Pettys, Earnhardts and Allisons. Seems I missed out never seeing Davey race :(

There were a number of great number 28 drivers, but in the mind of many the greatest of all was Fred Lorenzen. In only 158 total starts, he scored 32 poles and 26 wins, an incredible strike percentage. LINK:

Yeah, you guys are usually all over that stuff.

...actually, this is O'Hare Speedway in Chicago where, instead of a trophy queen, they had T-Bone the Clown. There must have been more tracks with official clowns or mascots... anybody here know of some?

Tracks were operated by some real clowns in those days.

In a 1960's era Western regional racing newspaper, there was a photo of a driver I saw as a very young kid, "Bobo" Cotton. He got the nickname as he performed at tracks as "Bobo The Clown" (race track clowns weren't uncommon in the 50's-70's). He also was called "Wildman" Bobo Cotton. Yep, he was bigger than one nickname could handle. Anyhow, the photo shows Cotton, racing wheel to wheel at Orange Show Stadium in San Bernardino, California in his '58 Ford...in full clown face.

So, tracks let some real clowns race in those days too

Compton, Armstrong team up for 2013 effort: SPEED's Ray Dunlap posted on his Twitter account that driver turned owner Stacy Compton will be returning to Truck Series competition in 2013, fielding trucks for Dakoda Armstrong. Compton's Turn One Racing team sat out the bulk of the 2012 NCWTS season due to funding. Armstrong spent the majority of his 2012 behind the wheel of the #98 for ThorSport Racing, with a best finish of third at Michigan Intl Speedway. (1-28-2013)
