Bubba Wallace to run in a KBM truck full-time this year.

AJ Allmendinger to test in IndyCar with Penske and possibly run two races pending sponsorship.

I thought it was 3, possibly even 4. And at least one conflicts with an already scheduled NASCAR race for him.

That's great news for Bubba. So alongside Kligerman then?

I wonder if they changed plans with the truck KyBu was supposed to run part-time (10 races?) and instead have decided to give it to Darrell full-time.

Hope so. Less Kyle the better.

Alongside Coulter.

Kyle will likely get his starts, probably in a 3rd Truck. Sponsor obligations & all that.

Right. Forgot Klig is moving up to NNS.

Anyhow, 2013 NCWTS Rookie of the Year Bubba Wallace. Calling it.

Is the obsession with a full grid related to rumored TV deals in which NASCAR loses money if less than 43 cars start?

Personally I was surprised that the sport has come through the economic crisis without a period of smaller grids, even with the start and parks. At the height of the crash in 2008 people were saying to expect fields of around 32.

Easier than picking the Nationwide Rookie of the Year. That's one tough cookie.

Maybe we should have a poll to see who we think the ROTY in each of the 3 series will be.

One sad thing, after the 500, all these great posts of the great days when stock car racing was not a tube-frame spec. farce usually end.

Oh well seventeen great days left.

Listening to a guy with a strong Scottish Brogue commentating on NASCAR in the 1970s is just so...strange. And I think how cosmopolitan NASCAR has become.

I'd love to sit down and talk to Jackie Stewart about his time commentating in the US.

I always thought it was a few octaves high for a brogue.

In the heyday of the Detroit F1 race when the voice of JYS was more or less atmospheric around town, there was a guy on the local rock station, WRIF, George Baier, who did an absolutely killer impression. I laugh now just thinking about it. "Wellll, Jayyymes..."

Well, it's done two things:

1) The burst of congratulations and support for Bubba from everyone on twitter has planted the seed. Coach Gibbs would be fool to ignore that.

2) Has slightly taken away the burst of congratulations and support of me wanting to see a video of Samantha Busch counting while doing starjumps.

Eh, I think it's true.

1.) Coach Gibbs said during the Elliott Sadler signing that plans are being put into place to put Bubba into KBM truck full-time.
2.) During the Gibbs' segment at Media Week a couple of days ago, JD Gibbs said that a major announcement concerning Bubba Wallace was forthcoming.
3.) Multiple major news outlets are reporting it.

Anywho, 19 year-old Ryan Reed joins the Roush NW stable for a part-time schedule.

Ryan Reed to drive limited schedule for Roush: Ryan's Mission, founded by driver Ryan Reed, has announced collaboration with the American Diabetes Association for the Drive to Stop Diabetes awareness campaign. Reed will compete in a number of NASCAR Nationwide Series races for Roush Fenway in 2013, driving the #16 Ford Mustang. Reed has type 1 diabetes and his car will feature an American Diabetes Association Drive to Stop Diabetes paint scheme, with his first race currently set for Richmond International Raceway on April 26, 2013. Ryan, a Bakersfield, California native has been racing since the age of four and was diagnosed two years ago at age 17 with type 1 diabetes and was told he would never drive again. This was unacceptable to the young man who has become an advocate for diabetes awareness and had started his own foundation, RyansMission.org, to educate people on diabetes. Ryan continued to drive and had a successful 2012 season in the ARCA Racing Series, as well as select NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events. Fundly will be an associate sponsor on the #16 Drive to Stop Diabetes Ford Mustang and will fully support the crowd-funding mission.(Drive to Stop Diabetes PR)

Diabetes organizations love auto racing, I guess.

I hope you're right Dilla. I know this afternoon Kyle Busch announced the 10 races he'll be running in NCWTS.
And Gibbs also said today Sadler would be running a 4th Cup car at both Talladegas and at Kansas.

But not a word on Darrell. Either they're not there with sponsors yet and are keeping it on the downlow, or some journo has run amok with what they thought would be a scoop about Bubba. And the major news outlets jumped on it.

We got the Bathurst 12 Hour!

Speaking of 1979, has anyone read He Crashed Me So I Crashed Him Back.
Any good? I was thinking about picking up a cheap copy on Amazon.

Counting down the Daytona 500, today it's 15, favored number of two team owners, Bill Stroppe and Bud Moore.

"Kimi, a learning experience tonight in the Perky Jerky #15. Do you think running in the Nationwide series next week you'll be able to improve your finish?"

So as its officially OFFICIAL, my bet for 2013 NCWTS Rookie of the Year is back on.

Bubba will drive the #54, sponsorship seems to be Toyota itself, and Coca-Cola.
Jerry Baxter to crew chief, and Darrell will run the ARCA race at Daytona under Venturi Motorsports for NASCAR approval (as he currently hasn't run on 1mile+ tracks yet)

I'm going to miss the Daytona 500 because I have to fly to BC to pick up our new truck. By "I have to", I mean I don't have to, I'm scared to fly, I'm sickened by being yelled at to produce rent money for my "broke" parents for the last two years who somehow just bought a $50,000 truck, I'm massively irritated that for some reason my company is needed on the week-long drive home from Vancouver to Toronto, I can't stand for things I long ago decided I would never do (fly on a plane) being completely ignored on a whim, and the fact that this whole week-long trip has to happen smack dab over the one racing event I've been looking forward to for 5 months has me so angry I can't even see straight. Enjoy the race.

Can we start an Options for Hope campaign?
Try these:

1) "ArewethereyetArewethereyetArewethereyet..?"
2) "Seriously Mom and Dad? Fifty grand and you didnt tick the tv/satellite combo optional extra?"
3) Suddenly switch religions. One that bars you from driving on weekends. and specifically requires you to pray in a bar. With a television.Shomer Shabbos. Shomer f@cking Shabbos.
4) Eat a ton of Taco Bell before the trip, and make them rue every minute of the journey.

They sell trucks right around the ****ing corner from my house, so God knows why a 2,000km drive is necessary to get an update version of the truck we already had. And I know this sounds like the most little kid problem ever lol.

I imagine if German Quiroga manages to find some money, he'll run the #15. Kyle Busch was talking about having as many as 4 trucks in the field at some points this season.

Edit:. . .Or he could go to Red Horse Racing according to Jayski.
