I used to go to Lions Dragstrip to see those epic Snake v Mongoose battles, the SwampRat and that stupid Art Arfons jet car....
What was that Van that used to do reverse wheelies?

[/offmemorylane]

Jp

This one used to do forwards wheelies, it always claimed to be the first wheelstanding truck.. all way before my time mind...

That one is a replica, the original got wrecked years ago apparently.

I like drag racing, mainly for the aggression - both from the way drivers drive and the cars, but I don't think it works on TV, you need to be there to hear the sound, smell the nitro and feel the ground shake.

Back to NASCAR, I saw that Brad will be on the tv shows for the duels seeing as he wont be driving in the sprint unlimited race, Carl Edwards is pissed (allegedly) :D

I saw the pictures of the new track drier, is this to give JPM a choice of trucks he crashes in to ?

Hi Richard, good to have you along for the ride
Who do you follow? Watching Trucks and Nationwide too?

Re: Countdown, I managed to pick up a neat vintage Darrell Waltrip print of the Budweiser #11 whilst on a recent memorabilia hunt. It was like $9, so I thought what the hell.
The lady won't allow me to put it up though, I'll have to wait til I get a proper mancave

Thank you! It's going to be awesome :)

Mainly Sprint cup because thats the only series fully broadcasted in Sweden. But sometimes they show Trucks and Nationwide live as well when the commentator in on location (5-6 times a year).

@ £7.92 a month? Not enough else to justify it.

ESPN is £10 so that's some difference.

I've been a #48 fan since he probably is the most complete driver whom dominated nascar while i was discovering it. I really like his attitude as well! And ironically also on the same time a Keselowski-fan, huge talent, and a nice chap! He really deserves to be champ! Hoping for a long battle between them this year :)

You bet she does! And so does her husband ;) But Cora is a nice person! Glad to get to know her

I looked a while back for another reason(I may have wanted a Dodge for my ARCA disaster) and I didn't see any. Maybe when a manufacturer leaves you can't run their cars or engines anymore? You'd think they wouldn't mind someone else paying for it, and there's that equipment lying around.

I mean jesus, ex-Penske Nationwide Challengers? They'd be zippy.

I asked Pockrass a while back, and he said technically a team could run RAM/Dodge in NCWTS/NNS if they wanted to.
No one is as far as I know.

Ross if you ever get that ARCA ride, how about we paint it like Bayne's helmet?

I think the story is burried in the 2011 Indycar thread, but it's possible someone explained it again in 2012.

My first contact with the PSP Cult was after an indycar road course race (in 2009?) where one of the drivers complained that the track marshalls only cared about assistting the "princess" while being slow to assist other drivers, but it's quite possible the princess thing comes from earlier times.

Morgan Shepard is running one in NW.

There is something really awkward about the guy's statement:

In a search for a engine for Daytona, Dodge was the only one MSRV could find at this point.

Looks like Roger got rid of the Dodge stuff already, maybe it's actually with Dodge, it's still amazing how Penske stuff suddenly becomes affordable.

Edit: Good news people, the paint scheme makes the car REALLY stand out, I bet you can spot it even inside a big one:

Again, you noobs :D When Buick and Oldsmobile dropped out, there were backmarker teams still fielding them for a few years, until the bodies weren't eligible. Granted, all pretty much GM aside from bodies...and ARCA was full of 'em.

A better example is how there were a few Mopar entries up through 1985, when, again the bodies became ineligible. I don't think there was anything stopping anyone from participating with manufacturer of any approved body/engine.

The Morgan Shepherd situation proves it.

Since he died in 2001, there's now an entire generation of gearheads who never got a chance to see and hear Henry "Smokey' Yunick. Time to fix that. Here's some video that provides a glimpse into the personality of a genuine American character. LINK:

I wasn't following as closely, so I can't say for sure. Don't recall any off-hand (watch me be proven wrong). Certainly wasn't like when Olds and Buicks were in great (excess) supply for the ARCA guys.

How different are 2013 cars underneath from the CoT? As in, would there be a lot of CoTs lying around and where do they go? No point in Nationwide, no need in ARCA, etc.

Someone actually mentioned on Speed that underneath is more or less the same, which brings the question of where did they loose weight since they mentioned a lot that the cars are lighter.

Hermie Sadler ran Pontiacs for at least part of the year in 2004. There were probably others but none come to mind at the moment.
