Don't be silly now, please try and be realistic.

Well realistically speaking, all these Dale Earnhardt's spirit talk is non-sense. :rotfl:

He is a ghost driver, they can drive cars really really good but they can't cure babies. You need a ghost doctor for that.

I hope you don't mind a minor revision.

Mark Martin replaces Denny Hamlin

According to Jayski, Martin gets the call. Couldn't do any better than that imo. It's rare that the fill in driver is more talented than the regular. I don't mean that to disrespect Hamlin, who is good. I mean that as a complement to Martin, who seems to get better with age.

:( I was hoping to see... The Stremmenator take the seat and shove Logano's ass... oh, wait... Smoke already has this part.

Martin gets the rare distinction of driving for the big 3 of Roush, Hendrick, and Gibbs (not to mention MWR rising towards that level now). Wasn't that long retirement tour back in 2005? :D

Interesting potential points scenario. He's 37 out of the top 12, but very close to the top 20, which could potentially get him into the Chase if he can finish off some race wins.

It's not impossible Hamlin could salvage a wild card, as espn breaks down in the other article. Still uncertainty about the return and a back obviously isn't something to mess around with.

While I love Mark and all I was hoping for Villeneuve.
The entertainment level would take NASACAR to risible levels.
Maybe when Joey gets put to sleep the Cap'n might spring for a bit of fun...

Mark Martin is far too professional a choice, Coach. What we needed was a replacement whose only function is to take out Logano for the next 5 races.
Boris Said would have been my man for the job.

Heck, Martin may even win one. Way to take the high-road, Gibbs.

So, Martin will drive some more races than planned this season then. It would've been awesome to see a part-timer get into the chase! :p

Oh, no.

...Woman is rushing her gravely ill baby to the remote country hospital in a raging storm when, rounding a dangerous mountain curve, her car begins to slide. As she fights for control, suddenly she feels a pair of sure hands grab hold of the steering wheel, miraculously guiding the car between the rocks, cliff, semis, etc, driving at unbelievable speeds until they arrive at the hospital. As she pulls into driveway, she sees The Man in Black standing in the shadows, who nods, tips his cap and then dissolves into thin air.

I have been told this story straight-faced more than once.

In which jurisdictions is this a valid excuse to the officer for exceeding the speed limit?

No idea, but Court papers suggest this is the exact defense One Jeremy Mayfield is using for his tri-state drug-fuelled romp across the desert.

I don't think Dale is going to give Mayfield any help after Pocono. Not the kind of 'help' he'd be interested in at least.

Regarding Mayfield of course I meant to say "the tri-state drug-filled romp across the desert bound to happen any minute now."

And there's Jp calling people idiots. If you're recommending books, I have a great album for you to listen to. ;)

Seems Martin will now race the #11 at Martinsville only and return to the #55 for the remainder of the season. Only thing I can think is Aarons kicked up a fuss?

I guess Vickers will take over from Martin after Martinsville.

Yep, that's the reports now. JD Gibbs apologized and said they broke the news before hammering out all the details.

It's all good Jp. And thanks for granting me the refund on your streaming service.
It was in Mexican pesos, but somehow with the currency conversion from USD to Naira to Peso, i actually made a small profit.
Looking to invest it. Any recommendations?

Also, Deluxx. Why does the offspring on the top look SO SAD, and why does the bottom one still just look like Ricky?

That would quickly dispatch the smoke...

Rockingham they need back. If they wanna race at Wilkesboro they might as well bring Hickory Motor Speedway back as well

I'd rather see a couple of old-timers in the series than 'ineligble' Cup drivers, or worse; no talent chicken boys.

How that schmuck convinced Red Horse he'd be an asset over Bodine astounds me.

Did Todd have a run in with JPM that I missed?;) How can he get a ride? Prolly 'cos of his two championships. For Hornaday, his four championships.

Concur about Benson though

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Qualifying will include heat races when the Truck Series moves to dirt for the inaugural July 24 race at Eldora Speedway.

Instead of setting the field with traditional two-lap runs, NASCAR announced Tuesday that qualifying on this half-mile track owned by Tony Stewart will feature a traditional two-lap session, five qualifying races and a champion's provisional.

The field will be limited to 30 trucks instead of the normal 36. Here's how it will work:

• Two-lap qualifying runs will determine starting positions for the qualifying races.

• There will be five qualifying races, eight laps each, and only green flag laps count.

• The top five trucks in qualifying will start on the pole for their respective qualifying race. The highest non-locked-in truck will transfer to race from each qualifying race.

• At the completion of the qualifying races, 25 trucks will have earned a spot in the feature.

• The Last Chance race will consist of 15 laps for those not in the top 25. The top four finishers will transfer into the feature event in positions 26 through 29.

• Position 30 will be the most recent past series champion that has not qualified. If that spot is not filled by an eligible champion, it will be assigned to the next-highest finishing driver in the Last Chance race.

"NASCAR and Eldora Speedway have collectively worked together to come up with a format that embraces the history of dirt track racing while also ensuring that full-time competitors have an opportunity to be a part of this special event," said Chad Little, the Truck Series director. "This will also add an exciting element for the fans and we look forward to putting on a great show at this unique venue."

The main race will be 150 laps divided into three segments -- 60 laps, 50 and 40.

There will be pit stops between each segment, with teams having the opportunity to change tires and work on their trucks.

This is the first time NASCAR has held a race from one of its top three series on dirt since Sept. 30, 1970, when Richard Petty won at the one-mile State Fairgrounds Speedway in Raleigh, N.C.

It's a points paying race, right? If I'm a full timer, I'd be pretty upset with this. Not only is the field smaller, but I run the risk of damaging my specially built equipment (added costs to mostly cash strapped teams) in these heats before even getting to the main. The purse better pay out big too. From a fan's standpoint, it sounds awesome but if I put myself in a Truck owner's shoes, it may not be worth it.

Wow, you guys need to get out more often  The format is a fairly typical for short track racing.

There shouldn't be 30, let alone 43, vehicles on a 1/2 mile dirt track.

Short track racing is not as common in europe as it is the US. I very much doubt it exists in more than a half a dozen countries on this side Jim.
It's been ages since I watched a full race and it was in the internet. It's tricky keeping up with the latest definition of hole/whatever in Formula 1, let alone keep up with short track. Not that I don't like short track, but it's nearly impossible for me to watch due to availability and shedules.
I cant even watch the V8 Supercar races that have been streamed live for free because it was bloody late for me!
