Yeah, but it's missing the number whatever, Ross Stonefeld, in the Coors Sun Drop Mixers Special :D

You know, I originally was going to go with Ross Stonefeld, in the Say Yes To Diabetes car :D

There is no such thing as an easy win on a Nationwide road course race. Idiots and cautions can ruin the race of even the best driver, and usually do.

I haven't seen anything recently that supports that statement (aside from Montreal 2012). Besides, no Steve Wallace and no Cup drivers (except AJA but he's no Kyle Busch) in the entry list this time :p

Shoes too.

#serious answer

Nah, what packed in the #7's day was a transmission problem.

I thought it was suspension. I remember her yelling her wheel had developed crazy vibrations. No doubt from mashing those Montreal kerbs.

A bit off-topic but I came across this bit on the Nascar 2013 game description (yes, it seems they made one for the PC this time, and yes, it seems to be Codemasterish, but I will probably bite it since I can't find my NR 2003 CD)

Relive and rewrite iconic moments from recent NASCAR history with Inside Line Highlights, recreated using real-world telemetry data from seasons 2011, 2012 and 2013, allowing players to experience the heat of the moment in one of the world’s most exciting motorsports.

I wonder what kind of moments they will put in? Tony's Big One from Dega in 2012? Montoya's almost win this year?

It was some pinion gear that backed itself out or something. I had Tony Eury's explanation in my sig for a while.

That was the first issue, which was fixed in the pits (though it should have been fixed after qualifying, starting from the back would not have been an issue). Patrick rejoined 30th (to some crowd applause if I recall correctly), started moving back up through the field and had gear change problems.

You're thinking of Hornaday. Bodine doesn't need rookies to crash, just some clean air and blue skies.
I kid. I like the Onion. But from what I've seen of Moffitt, we may not see Todd next year.

Drivers, owners start looking to 2014: It was curious when [#78-Kurt] Busch slipped last Thursday after he was asked a silly question about who he would prefer to have dinner with when given a list of drivers. His focus turned to #39-Ryan Newman, his former Penske Racing teammate with whom he experienced a not-so-friendly feud on and off the track as the two free agents searched for rides last year. "Maybe Newman and I need to have a sit-down, because we're both out there charging hard and trying to get into the Chase, and we're looking for rides," said Busch, who almost immediately regretted the last few words. Busch, 34, signed a one-year deal with Furniture Row Racing last year. Although team owner Barney Visser attempted to extend the contract with Busch after he posted three consecutive top-10 finishes to close out the 2012 season, the driver believed it was best to hold off.

And as Busch learned on Sunday - before he made the error of speeding down pit road twice, dropped to 38th and battled back to a fourth-place finish - FRR can produce cars capable of winning. That's a prospect not lost on his rival Newman, who has inquired about the possibility of a second team at FRR for 2014.

Yes, Busch is accustomed to competing with high-profile teams but those coveted seats are few and far between. There have been talks with Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, Michael Waltrip Racing and Richard Childress Racing but the driver landscape remains in flux.

On Sunday, Childress admitted that Newman, who will likely have the support of sponsor Quicken Loans, is topping his list of candidates for the #29 ride being vacated by Kevin Harvick. In the winner's post-race interview, Michael Waltrip acknowledged that Brian Vickers "is our guy." "We're trying to get all the pieces together so he can drive the #55 and race for the championship next year," Waltrip said.

Furniture Row Racing has no issues with Busch testing the market - as long as it doesn't become a distraction for the team.(Fox Sports)(6-25-2013)

Finch has prospective buyer for Phoenix Racing: James Finch said Thursday that he expects to announce the sale of #51 Phoenix Racing on July 15. He said the prospective owner passed muster in terms of the most necessary qualification for owning a team that competes in Sprint Cup and Nationwide racing. "He's somebody who's got money," Finch said. Unable to find a long-term sponsor for his racing team the past three years, Finch has been saddled with the exorbitant costs required to drive on a weekly basis. Unwilling to shoulder that burden any longer, he said previously that he intended to race through the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 28 before ceasing operations. Now he believes he has found a buyer who will take over and keep the team running through the rest of the year and beyond. Finch wouldn't reveal who the potential buyer is, but he did say the prospective owner has not owned a racing team before. "I'm in negotiations with an individual to buy the team, and if he does that I'll let him finish out the year," Finch said, adding that details of the sale will be reserved until July 15. "He's a qualified buyer, so hopefully we can make everything work. I've got close to 800 starts. That's a lot of weekends, you know what I mean? I'll help (the new owner) get started and stuff like that. I'll go attend some races a little bit, but I'll be out of ownership. I might run a few Nationwide races out of his shop, go play or something. But full time is over for me. We're going to the shop (in Spartanburg, S.C.) this next week and telling the employees, 'Here's the new guy, and this is the plan.'" The Sprint Cup schedule rolls through Daytona next week for the Coke Zero 400, and Finch said he will have Regan Smith or AJ Allmendinger in the driver's seat for that race. "Regan's concentrating on trying to win the Nationwide championship," Finch said. "If he wants to drive at Daytona, he's been so good the last two (restrictor) plate races I'm going to give him the opportunity. If he wants to concentrate on the Nationwide championship then we will have AJ finish up the next three races."(Sun Herald)(6-28-2013)
UPDATE -Harry Scott Jr.?: A source close to the situation told ESPN.com the potential buyer is Harry Scott Jr., the co-owner of Turner Scott Motorsports, which competes in the Nationwide and Truck Series. Finch, 63, said he should know if the deal will go through by July 15. If not, he said the organization will shut down after the July 28 race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway due to a lack of funding. "My last race is going to be the Brickyard [400] that I'm going to fund," Finch said Friday. "I've been trying to make this sale happen to keep my employees. I've got some of them jobs with different teams if I shut down. If the guy buys the team, they will be able to stay and go forward racing." Finch has 18 employees in his Spartanburg shop located just over an hour from the NASCAR hub in Charlotte (ESPN).
AND Team General Manager Steve Barkdoll confirmed the pending sale to Sporting News on Friday. Barkdoll was vague on whether the new buyer also is bringing a driver. He indicated that Allmendinger would drive the next three races at Daytona, New Hampshire and Indianapolis. "(The owner's preferred driver is) not necessarily for all the races," Barkdoll said Friday morning at Kentucky Speedway. "Nothing has really been talked about (on) that for sure. & We know that AJ is going to drive the three races in July. That gets us hopefully to the announcement. After that, we haven't looked past July yet on the driver part." Barkdoll said he is "very confident" of the sale being completed by the middle of next month. Barkdoll did say that Jacques Villeneuve, who drove for the team last week, is not the prospective buyer but would not go into details about who is buying the team.(Sporting News)(6-28-2013)

If Harry Scott is the buyer, then I think we see Justin Allgaier's Sprint Cup debut.

Very interesting Dilla. So does Phoenix essentially become TSM's Sprint Cup arm? Makes a lot of sense when you see the 'future names' Turner has accrued over the last 18 months.

Plus, TSM has good history of acquiring sponsors.

Maybe Piquet runs Watkins Glen if this deal is done by July like predicted, who knows. . .

Yep.
Hope the rumors are true. I would say not only Allgaier, but also Buescher's Cup future is secure. In fact, the whole deal could be about getting Buescher to Cup.

Hah! Was just about to type Piquet as a road course Cup driver.

Edwards to Penske? Denied: ....the rumor of Carl Edwards [who is signed with Roush thru at least 2013] driving a third Penske Racing car with Quicken Loans as the sponsor next season circled around the garage the last few weeks. "Absolutely not," [team owner Roger] Penske said emphatically. "That's a good one, but no. We would do a third car if we had proper sponsorship. But right now we have two good young drivers and we continue to get our cars better." Penske didn't rule out the possibility of adding a third car down the road but he remains loyal to Sam Hornish Jr.(FoxSports)(6-30-2013)

I would have not bothered posting it, but it's just weird to me that this rumor has popped up the 2nd year in a row.

Doesn't really make sense for either party aside from the Ford connection.

Finch has only been running plate tracks of late in the Nationwide series. His whole operation is shutting down/transfering to new owner at the end of this month.

As of now, there is supposedly interest from three different sources for Phoenix Racing.

1. Harry Scott Jr.
2. Terry Labonte
3. Unnamed guy who has never owned a team before but has "deep pockets".

Hoping for Scott, honestly.

It seems to be Nascar now has the return of the #3 car in full motion. (honestly... "JR Oks, the 3"?!)
I take that means Austin Dillon will make the jump next year?
