After finally seeing all the 2013 cars, Ford wins.

Agreed - the new car is a huge improvement from the previous (not exactly a high bar), but I can't help thinking they would be more appropriate as a lower-profile Nationwide car and the sportier Nationwide would best represent the top Cup division. Another vote for the Ford as the best of the group, though paint schemes can often play a part in the look.

This is asthetics alone, I realize the manufacturers have goals with marketing different models.

Like the look of the SS, much more presence than the Impala had.

Was looking around at pics from Vegas, had to share this one, Smoke has his special look on again!

Talking of Stewart, he hosted his Stewie awards last night, the winners listed here: http://thatsracinluc...scar-award.html

Landon Cassil tweeted:

landon cassill ‏@landoncassill
Ohhh just did a pretty funny Stewie awards interview on @SiriusXMNASCAR. Hope @danicapatrick isn't offended

I looked but can't find anywhere to listen yet, she got the "bonehead of the year award" for trying (and failing) to take him out in Kansas, so I'm guessing its not too complimentary.

Buddy Baker from Darlington September '65. Retired on lap 123 with head gasket failure. Ned Jarrett won

And we're getting carbon fiber hoods and decklids apparently. Little black shards strewn over the track. Not good for tires, good for mystery cautions that are harder to argue with.

First thought that came to mind was will this be a possible concern for spectators especially at the annual Talladega and Daytona smashfests?

So... 2 tiers of Chevy teams will have to switch cars. Is Nascar offering some incentive for the Holdens and the Camaros?

I think for the Nationwide teams it's just bodywork? And the development on it will have been done by Chevrolet already.

The Chevy's seem to be down to how good the livery works, for instance I think Kahne's car looks really good. The paint makes the shape work better, whereas Tony Stewart's just looks meh.

That is a good idea. Those panels must be way cheaper.

What about Finch? He seems to have changed the tone of wanting to hang the wheel in the final races, some late funding arrived?

Looks like some of the teams, including Stewart's seem to be moving towards simpler, old school types of schemes. Jr's is another, to me the NG design does not flatter the new car (Dew looks better from the one pic I saw - the very simple scheme they had when he first joined Hendrick doesn't really work with a sports/energy type drink). Also makes it look like a teammate to the MWR 55?

Oh, Man.

ARCA is going to Road America. June, so I assume with Nationbusch?

I totally want to run that race, anyone got any sponsorship ideas?

Kickstarter? Raising money here at the forum? Surely you know how to pitch a team/sponsor, and you do have laps at RA don't you? Stress your experience there.

Seriously, do it! Then we can go on message boards and post: "ARCA will let anyone race", "what a clown that guy is!", "who let him in this race?", "who does he know?" and the like :p (nah, jk, I'd be rooting for you).

Im going to fly OfficeLineBacker out to sit in the stands with a laptop and scanner and give the forum the JPM style play-by-play.

"He's just asked if he can take out Ty Dillon, he thinks he'll get more TV time"

Maybe I'll ask Travis Carter to prep the car, he ran some ARCA for his kid in 08 I think, and since it's all old Cup equipment it's not like he doesn't know how to run them.

And yes compared to the prospective ARCA grid I would have quite a bit of laps.

 Do it! Hurry, or else all the prospective seats will be filled by Chicago Region SCCA knobs :)

I have as many laps at Road America as many ARCA regulars.

Book me in. If you can get the car to Brooklyn I will paint it for you*

*disclaimer
It will be in Latex Acrylic, so will peel off by lap 43. But it would be the most talked about paint-scheme of the year. Publicity.

I know this group can be short-track challenged, but the annual Snowball Derby late model race took place today. It had some of the antics that some in this group seem to enjoy immensely. Like...

Steve Wallace throws a hammer, then again, it was at Kyle Busch's car. Ragan and Piquet also there among some other second generation racers.

Before I put down money for sponsorship for Ross, are there any turnip fields planted at RA?

It's a bit too much imo, use either the white swoosh or the beer glass (white swoosh with the white rims ftw). Using both makes it too busy.

I'm thinking with all that black it will blend into the track a little too easily and drivers doin a quick check in their mirrors may not see it to well, resulting in more getting clipped incidents

Rumblings that Rheem are leaving Eddie Sharp Racing to join another (unnamed) NCWTS team.

Where does that put ESR? Where is Cale Gale going to end up? Possible connection?

He also announced that he and his wife were granted US citizenship (his baby boy was already a citizen due to birth on US soil).

As of now, I consider Paludo a waste of a top seat. Hopefully, he'll improve.

It's pretty clear to me that Piquet is trying his hardest to find a NW seat now; if he was intending to return to Trucks, he would have been announced for Turner already. He would be lead driver if Buescher advances to NW.

KBM is looking for sponsors. . . or Childress' open 21 seat.

I still believe Piquet will be in a Turner Truck. Remember there was 3 full-time and 1 part-time seat last year. Maybe Turner is looking at taking that 4th truck full-time also next year. Edit: although thinking about it, the part-time ride will probably be shared out to Kyle Larson, Brandon Mac, or Dylan Kwasaneski.

Either way, not too concerned at this point.

They only had one full-time NNS seat last year, correct? Or did Brad Sweet run a full schedule?
Now it's going to be Beuscher and Allgaier I guess. No idea who's running what in NNS for Turner.

Anyway, countdown: who doesn't love a hauler?

For the PR stuff ? Checo or Jensen I guess.

I see the guy who bought what was left of Inception racing is going to do a full season with a single car, David Stremme driving.

I don't think we'll see any more NASCAR/F1 Mobile One commercials anymore. Lewis seemed like he was genuinely curious about stock car racing and I don't really get that vibe from Jenson or Perez (though Jenson seems diplomatic enough and Sergio's older brother, Antonio Perez, actually runs and is a former champion in the NASCAR Toyota Series and has some Nationwide starts).

Of course, it's probably not really up to them whether they do it or not.

Seriously Ross, you get something cooking for ARCA at RA, I'll chuck in a k, just for your qually rubber.
Other than that, Chevy needs to get rid of that doohickey (yes, that's a technical term) , that chrome thing they are intent on putting behind the front tyres.
Yuck.
Dodge totally f'ed up, they had the coolest looking 2013 of all. They could have supported their effort on diecasts alone.
Tony to indy, puuuhleeze.
I'm amazed that the captain made the offer, and means it. Must have had a few adult beverages before he got up and said something on the stage...
Doubly amazing is that indy is ready to shift their schedule to accommodate it. That opens a ton of doors, PSP, Hornish, JPM, and a slew of others would do it, I think. Especially if they could hook up serious rides. Hornish for a 4th car, PSP for an Andretti, and JPM for a Gannasty are all top line rides.
Yee Haw, Burton is salivating over that gift.
