The Chevy looks way better without the wraparound part of the headlights. Much more like the Commodore.

Either way it's far better looking than the Nationwide Camaro, which looks like a Camry.

Bobby Isaac's Dodge Daytona (sans 'co-driver'). No Camry here.

Before and after. These kinds of cars came and went (actually, banned) in a matter of years.

"The" Hall of Fame? The one mentioned in the linked article is the Daytona Beach West Rotary Club Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame.

And...Sterling Martin? ;)

Daytona makes sense for Marlin. He undeniably had a big advantage with the Morgan McClure car when he won his 2 500s, but also had a knack for being competitive with just about every ride he had there. Could easily have won another 2 or 3, had the best car with the Maxwell House Johnson in 1992 and of course most remember the fender under caution incident with Ganassi in 2002 when it was down to him and Gordon. Even back around 1986 I remember running at the front with the #1 team

Depending on who you talk to the Daytona HOF is "The" stock car HOF compared to that Johnny come lately in Charlotte... :drunk:

Look closely, I'm not questioning Sterling Marlin, or his accomplishments, at all It was a question about his last name

 Is there a Hall of Fame at Daytona? (I know there's a museum and display cars), and besides, this isn't at the Speedway...the "Hall of Fame" is the Daytona Beach West Rotary Club Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame.

Given the history of auto racing, two general racing/motorsports Halls of Fame seems far too few (and that's not counting all those geared to specific types/forms of racing or all of the regional and local Halls). I say we start several more :)

It's why I put Martin? and "the Hall of Fame?" in italics

Sorry for the confusion - I was referencing him being qualified for a Daytona hall of fame but not an overall NASCAR one. (Another issue brought about by restrictor plates.... :D)

Cargill to remain with Roush to sponsor Bayne.

Cargill sponsoring Bayne: Roush Fenway Racing's #6 Ford Mustang will have a familiar look when Trevor Bayne takes the reins of the Championship team in 2013. The organization announced that Cargill will return as a partial-season primary sponsor for the #6 NASCAR Nationwide Series team next year, starting with the season opener at Daytona International Speedway. Crew chief Mike Kelley will return to lead the team. "We still have room for one or two more primary sponsors next season on the remaining races with Trevor and the #6 team," said Roush Fenway president Steve Newmark. "It's an unusual but exciting opportunity for a potential partner to join a proven team seeking its third consecutive championship in the Nationwide Series, and with a driver who is one of the most popular in the sport."(Roush Fenway)(12-18-2012)

Still waiting on confirmation of that Pastrana to Roush rumor. Would be nice to the NW Roush get back to two permanent teams in their stable (and 4 in Cup).

That's the one. It's been around for quite a while, about 23 years and has never been part of NASCAR or ISC. it's a stock car HOF, not NASCAR specific. For many hardcore stock car racers it's considered "The" stock car HOF.

I think that for once Steve won't be as criticized for his actions this time, being that it was Kyle Busch's car.

Unlike that lower level race where he went complete rage, screaming like a maniac over the radio after stuffing both himself and a driver he felt had "wronged" him. That went into just plain freaking scary territory. Also, quite a contrast to Scott Speed's relative calmness after paying back Ricky Stenhouse Jr. at Toledo.

Looks like Finch has found a way to stick around.

Finch working on driver lineup for #51: Phoenix Racing team owner James Finch is close to settling on his lineup for 2013. Finch said Thursday that Regan Smith will run the Daytona 500 in the #51 Chevy. But with Smith concentrating on his new gig with JR Motorsports, there will be an opportunity for AJ Allmendinger as well. "Regan will go to Daytona for us, but I want to help AJ run some races, too," Finch said. "We're still working on the final schedule, but AJ will probably run Phoenix (International Raceway on March 3) for us." Allmendinger made his comeback with Phoenix Racing in October at Charlotte after completing NASCAR's "Road to Recovery" program for violating the sport's substance-abuse policy. His top result with the team was 24th in that race.(Fox Sports)(12-21-2012)

Saw that, be a good way back for AJ do we think ?

Robby Gordon is going to concentrate on his truck racing stuff and has no current plans to do any cup races, although he may run some "selected events".

Seems DEI are diversifying, Teresa Earnhardt has applied for planning permission for an 317 acre outdoor retreat centre behind the DEI workshops.

NBC expected to make push for NASCAR rights: The shift to a less passive audience that would rather interrelate with a race telecast than just watch comes as NASCAR negotiates its next television contract. The current deal expires after the 2014 season and by the time '15 rolls around the TV landscape could look very different. FOX has already renewed its agreement through 2022 to the tune of $300 million per year, or $2.4 billion over the eight years. That's a significant bump up from the $220 million Fox is currently paying for a package of races that includes the Daytona 500. Despite a drop in ratings, an increase is also expected from other television entities for the remaining components of the contract, which include 23 other Sprint Cup races, ten inside the Chase, and the entire Nationwide Series schedule. Incumbents TNT and ABC/ESPN are expected to again jump back into negotiations but a wild card has come to the table in the form of NBC. Desperate for quality and popular live sports programming for its NBC Sports Channel, the Peacock Network is expected to make a substantial play for a big piece of the NASCAR pie. But while the dollars may turn out to be greater in the NBC proposal, at this point the network could not match the exposure and publicity NASCAR receives from the "World Wide Leader" in sports. As part of the mighty ESPN machine, NASCAR enjoys a hefty amount of promotion on not just auto racing-related programming but a wide range of content across a variety of television, radio and online platforms.(Motor Racing Network)(12-24-2012)

[Yellow Lowe's car]

Strong candidate for worst car of the year.

It might be OK in person.

It that a greeney yellow? That is a classic muscle car colour after all, just ignore the decals.
