Nearly the same colour, Jimmie will be running this scheme for the shootout, pic from jayski

Posted Image

Is it similar to this colour? (or do I have an incorrectly calibrated monitor :) )

http://www.trulinest...rlow_yellow.jpg

(don't mind the Ford)

As an aside, do you think the Chevy SS will actually sell? Enthusiasts would know it's exactly the same car as the Pontiac G8, and I don't recall that being a "hit". People say they want a big American-engined V8 sedan, but then they see the Aussie build "quality" and do they go and get some turbocharged 6cyl Japanese or European sedan packaged with more room inside? :| (or indeed a E63 AMG if they can afford it)

Where can I bet on it? He's sooo fast everywhere :-)

Kid's good

V8 Fireworks- I'm not sure the Chevy SS is being brought over in very large numbers, but the NASCAR tie-in should help sales.
Not sure the build quality thing will be an issue.

Countdown continues: here's two '55' related-incidents we should never have to see again...

It's that damn bump drafting. It's just too dangerous. NASCAR should do something about it!

Crikey!

Re: the Chevy SS - that car still has the power window controls on the centre console (!), seemingly for no better reason than that's how it was designed 25 years ago. :drunk: As an Australian car it should be fairly robust, not withstanding little production quality faults which I guess are typical for all GM/Ford products wherever they are built, but any refinement comparisons to other large cars are not going to be too favourable I think. (for example, speculation asking for an "8 speed auto" - in a Holden? I don't think so...* )

I guess it doesn't matter, as the target audience are folks who will want to tune 'em and get 'em signing, it will be all about having a four door with a nice big Chevy V8 under the hood, hopefully mostly manual sales for extra cred'. :) I do believe the car is shorter than the Dodge Charger though, not sure how room in the reat seat compares.

* Interestingly the were also complaining that there is no hatch version of the Cruze sold in the US, as obviously Americans prefer sedans, when ironically the hatch version was designed by Holden!

Only seven cars? For one of the beach modified races, that's nothing. That's what you got when you started something like 120 cars.

Kahne, Sweet moving from Turner to JR Motorsports: JR Motorsports will field cars for Kasey Kahne and Brad Sweet for the 2013 Nationwide Series season. Great Clips, which signed on to sponsor three Sprint Cup races for Kahne's No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet in 2013, will move its sponsorship from Turner Motorsports to JRM to support the Nationwide Series effort. Kahne ran 15 races for Turner Motorsports in the #38 Great Clips Chevyt in 2012. After a decade-long association with Kahne, Great Clips made its Sprint Cup debut as his co-primary sponsor at Texas Motor Speedway in November.(Fox Sports)(1-1-2013)
UPDATE: An official announcement of Kahne's addition to JRM's Nationwide program could come as early as Wednesday, sources said. Kahne is expected to run up to 15 races with JRM in 2013, splitting time with Brad Sweet. It was unclear which car number the duo would use.(Charlotte Observer)(1-1-2013)

Maybe, Great Clips was a big sponsor for Turner. He could look to Piquet's money to make up for that in NW.

Piquet has been awfully quiet regarding this years plans, yet he's been hanging out at Turner.

I feel an announcement coming.

I was there at Fontana when that was filmed. Totally ridiculous movie, but the race Bug with its big tires and NASCAR accoutrements was sorta cool looking. Also impressive was how they got all the "race" footage as in the above done in only a few minutes. Very efficient, no messing around.

This JRM Great Clips deal puts Cole Whitt out of a drive.

I'd like to know the logic of taking Brad Sweet over the mighty ginge. Hopefully he'll land somewhere competitive.

Turner announces Cale Gale will join them as crew chief (!) of their development divisions.

Surely this will also include some NCWTS seat time. Gotta say I like Turner's line-ups.

A few months back I spotted that someone had listed a «Bug» as having entered a Sprint Cup race.
Apparently it was a one off much like that Lotus 7 racing in a Formula 1 race http://www.nascarhal...g/290...e-bug”/

I found a thread some guy made inquiring about a photo, but alas, no one seems to have captured ze love bug on photo.

edit: By the way, that car is eligible for this thread since it wore the number 18.

"I can't find a ride? Pfft it's all good, I'll just be a crew chief."

Turner has also announced that 15 yo Brandon Jones will run two Truck races. He'll be 16 by these events of course.

Wait what?!
James Buescher Isn't going to NNS.
Wants to go back-to back in the Trucks.
With Burton and Paludo the other two full-time Turner NCWTS drivers already signed, Piket must be doing Nationwide.

Note that these cars still have roll-up windows. The driver can run his window down a bit and have a smoke, throw his bottlecaps and chicken bones out the window, etc.

According to ESPN it's a done deal. There was a possibility of her running a partial NNWS with Smoke for RCR but her handlers wanted to keep the partial season aligned with someone with the same equipment as the Cup program.

Just checked it out. Currently, it appears very broken. I can't get half the stuff to load so I can't even tell if the new layout stinks or not. Some stuff loads, other is just broken lines of code. Either way, NASCAR should get their money back and find a better web developer. How embarrassing must it be to brag about the new site layout and its all broken from the start?

NASCAR just brought the website in-house this past summer after Turner Sports operated it for many years.

How is driving for Turner the 'same equipment' when RCR isn't? Do Hendrick do the Nationwide cars too? I'd have thought she'd stay at JR then.

Turner-Scott is a Hendrick client.

On edit: About PSP staying at JRM, it doesn't appear it was an option. From the new and improved(?) NASCAR.com...

http://www.nascar.co...de-changes.html

"We don’t want to be an eighth-to-15th place car week in and week out,” she added. “And if you look at the top drivers … just trying to compete with that at the Nationwide level, we’ve kind of had to abort the up-and-coming drivers stance that’s kind of been strong with this company. Before we had Danica, we were able to do that with one car -- we’d have our strong driver in one car, and our up-and-coming driver the other, and it would balance out and showcase what our program could do. These last couple of years where we’ve had rookies in there, which was the case with Cole and Danica, it’s been much harder to evaluate our equipment ... because they’re both still learning and they’re both still figuring it out.

Kahne had started a handful of Nationwide events for JRM in the past, and Miller said Kahne was interested in running more even if his longtime Great Clips backing had remained with Turner. The fact that Kahne and Earnhardt compete for the same Sprint Cup team, Hendrick Motorsports, probably didn’t hurt in enticing both driver and sponsor to a new home.

“He’s always been a possibility to race for JR Motorsports, if we had the funding and the cars available for him,” Miller said of Kahne. “Really, the situation with him and Brad wasn’t an option until we received that phone call in December. It does make great sense for us, though, with our relationship with Hendrick, and Kasey and Dale both being drivers there. It’s a good opportunity for everybody to kind of work together.
