Solid line-up Dilla. Rookie of the Year will be fun too.

And yeh cheering for Whiit to find a ride also.

BREAKING:

Oops. Seems there will be an opening for Richest Children Racing in NCWTS this year.

Reports that Tim George Jr. has broken his ankle on a snowmobile and will not compete.

Who now? PopPop's going to need to speed up operations at the Dillons 'R' Us™ cloning and millinery facility.

Probably a shutdown; with Coulter gone, only TG's Applebee's money was keeping that Truck in the line-up.

I missed the thunder in daytona but read something about drafting being more difficult this year. Is that really the case?

Yes it seems so. Smaller spoiler at the back, non-matching bumpers and other changes made it a lot more difficult to tandem draft. Here's a quote from Keselowski:

"The sport is rewinding," Keselowski said. "That's an important thing to say, because the sport advanced to where we got the two-car tandem about three or four years ago. There were certain things that you could do with them that you could never do in the past without wrecking. Now the rule package has been changed back to where we were in the early 2000s, where I think the fans and everybody else enjoyed the racing a little better.

"So, as drivers, we have to rewind back to how we used to drive those cars. This is how you do it. You learn, and you make mistakes, and that's part of it. I might be the guy that makes the mistake next time, so I can't really be mad about it. It's unfortunate that there are torn-up cars, but let's be honest -- it's January, and we've got another month and a half to build ‘em right."

Could be that other Turner NNS car, as he was farmed out to Turner last year.

Either way, great news. This kid seems unstoppable.

Tony Stewart on Kyle Larson:

“That kid is a lot better than (Jeff) Gordon or myself were at his age (21) and you’re going to be hearing about him for a long time,” said Tony Stewart. “He’s a special talent.”

Nice Italian Jp :-)

Sadly at the moment no Italian TV is broadcasting NASCAR races and there are no rumors about it. I fear we'll have to resort to other means, as usual :-(

A couple of years ago Sportitalia broadcasted a bunch of races but badly advertised them and often changed schedule at the very last moment. I think they never believed in the NASCAR product.

I must say its a pretty boring day for The Countdown.
Looks like Ryan Newman is the only driver to win in a #39.

So reluctantly, here he is. However, upside-down and on fire (as per the gentleman's agreement)

Thanks JP, I'm proud of the work we're doing :-)

A NASCAR race in Monza would be a dream come true and it would become an instant classic. I'd watch at the entrance of the Parabolica to see the drivers fight with the steering wheel under brakes and getting on the throttle! Too bad for the logistics alas.

I've been lucky enough to take a ride a Sprint Cup Car on the old Monza Banking alongside Max Papis in 2011 and it was fantastic. :-)

The man on the left with his head in front of the Mini is Richard Essame*, with whom I worked at Delemare Road, and who now renovates old Jaguars in California, at least he did when I last had contact about 5 years ago.

Who is the David Gilliland of this era? Besides winning a Nationwide races when the Cup regulars took a week off, and employing a PIT maneuver on JPM while being lapped, Gilliland seems to be perfectly unremarkable.

Another full-timer in Nationwide:

Bowman to run full season with RAB: RAB Racing with Brack Maggard announced that 19-year-old Alex Bowman will compete for the 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year honors, driving the team's #99 Toyota Camry. Bowman, who tallied four wins and six pole awards en route to claiming 2012 ARCA Racing Series Rookie of the Year honors, has four career Nationwide Series starts to his credit. He posted a career-best 15th-place finish behind the wheel of RAB Racing's #99 Toyota Camry in the penultimate race of the 2012 season, at Phoenix International Raceway. Bowman will be paired with veteran crew chief Chris Rice, who served in the same capacity for RAB Racing's NASCAR Camping World Truck Series operation. Rice, 38, a NASCAR Nationwide Series race-winning crew chief, has been with the company since 2010. Sponsor announcements for RAB Racing's #99 Toyota Camry will be announced at a later date.(RAB Racing)(1-21-2013)

Would have preferred Brent Moffitt, but this is fine.

Congrats to Denny Hamlin and Jordan Fish for a healthy baby boy.
