How do you figure?

Because I said so here. and my comments come with more authority than Mystic Meg and all the Autosport forum Moderators combined.

"Some weather reports", interesting.

The one I have, which is usually correct and focused on the actual circuit, says it's gonna rain @ race time.

Has it updated? I'm looking at the radar right now and the supposed deluge has certainly not eventuated.

Looking at the radar 7 hours in advance doesn't make any sense.

You should try to get hired by an F1 team with such good information!

Just using more reliable services than Yahoo Weather on Sao Paulo instead of the circuit.

There was supposed to be a lot of rain this morning, it hasn't eventuated. That's my point.

And I'm not using Yahoo weather. I'm using 4-5 sites, some of them track specific. The track specific ones appear to be the least optimistic for rain. If you read the f1 weather update from BBC weatherman Fergie on twitter you'd know there were two alternative weather models out there for today, so far it looks like it's trending towards the light model, and perhaps even a lighter model of that.

Anyways I'm not here to have a ridiculous spat about the weather. It's Brazil, it's Interlagos. It's fundamentally unpredictable. All you can do is look at the way it's trending.

 Does this mean the weather around Interlagos has a Twitter account?

Nice.

Having said that, Silverstone was drizzly all Sunday morning but the race was bone dry. Sure, it wasn't biblical (that was Q2 Saturday, I'm never doing GA again!) but still.

Nah trending means lots of people are talking about it at the moment on Twitter.

Watcha talking about? Several people on site have been reporting heavy rain since sunrise.

Not the first time Fergusson would be wrong.

It is possible for people to be wrong, forecasts aren't an exact science. Plus you only have to look at how the forecast has changed from this time last week through to today to realise it's been very complicated and has changed numerous times, making it very difficult to get right, especially as the forecasts and the live radars don't always match up.

1-week forecast ≠ 6-hour forecast

Need me to explain it more for you?

You seriously thnk you can forecast Interlagos's weather precisely? Ha. When it rained yesterday even the live radar was inaccurate.

Where did I talk about being precise?

All we need to know is if in the race's 2 hours window, it's going to more likely be full dry or pissing from heavens.

Black or white, yes or no. Capice?

The point may be the weather, but if you're going to talk to people about it, try and do it in a more civilised manner, rather than coming across as arrogant. Simple request.

So there should be about 1.4mm of rain during the race?

I think the only thing we can be sure of is that it will not be a dull race. It will be overcast at least and the possibility of rain alone will keep us on the edge of our seats even if it doesn't materialize. And if it does, it's gonna be very interesting even if it has a bunch of red-flag periods.

Yesterday - no rain on radar before Qualifying. What happened? Huge downpour 30 minutes before the session. Radars and predictions are not the be all and end all - Interlagos is situated between two lakes and a mountain which means weather can develop very quickly (2008 says hi).

1.4mm rain over 2 hr period is not that heavy. I think it is more like a light drizzle.

Good chance it will be dry, but the colder front means it will be interesting whatever. Much cooler track temperatures, green track...

I don't think so. The day is very chilly and the track should be 15-20C degrees cooler than it was on Friday, so tire usage will be a bit into the unknown. But I agree that with a dry race, even if Vettel retires, it will be a difficult task for Alonso to reach the podium.

That's the kind of weather forecast I wouldn't trust. Very unprecise, not even centered on the circuit.

Scary thought.
In just a few short hours we will be in the dreaded "off season".
You know - where they dont have a race for millenia (or at least decades, or some equally long period of time) and you have to flick back though old magazines, and have endless discussions about when teams willl reveal new cars, and what will happen in preseason testing. Some of us may resort to dusting off some old video tapes. Some of us may not visit this forum for weeks on end.
Its a sad sad time. And so soon.
So soon.

...the time of counting back the days. I hear you man. :well:

It's nothing compared to when we used to have 6 whole months of nothingness, with no Internet moreover. It's 4 months now, filled with Twitter jizz and TV shows and rumours and discussion boards, blah blah.
