Brightening up all the time here at Interlagos. Latest forecast is for a dry race with a chance of light rain afterwards, or perhaps at end

3 hours until go time in Interlagos. The latest weather update is in and it's now reduced the chance of rain to around 20%....

so? Are u aware that Alonso would need to be at least 3rd in that POS car. There is no chance that he would finish on 3rd, even with Vettel DNFs.

A bit like when he's finished way higher than pretty much anyone expected in a good number of races recently then?

Previous GPs beg to differ. Race pace on Friday too.

With the climate the way it is at Sao Paulo, I am not sure why so many people put their trust in the long range forecast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are extremely unpredictable.

But on this track overtaking aint the easiest, and except starting finish line, almost anywhere else is impossibru

If Vettel DNFs, to finish 3rd all he has to beat is Webber and Hulkenberg. To be honest if Vettel didn't start the race I would make Alonso slight favourite to win the championship

Out of interest, when was Vettel's last 1st lap retirement? I can't think of any

Abu Dhabi last year, I think, with that strange puncture.

Given everyone else has suffered alot more Lap 1 drama this season, perhaps he is due one?

Neither is Abu Dhabi, yet Vettel passed a number of cars. There's also the 2nd straight going down to turn 4, certainly not impossible there, and the same goes for coming down the hill into the left hander that leads you up the hill if you fancy taking a gamble. Also seen passes into turns 8 and 10.

Hulkenberg and Massa are not a worry so he is already 5th. Vettel DNF and he is 4th. And Webber's race pace is usually not very good.

Watch previous Interlagos races, then...

Also, there has been overtaking at every race this year, even the ones where it was deemed as impossibru.

Just keep the faith.

I agree, none of those forecasts predicted we would get showers before q1 yesterday either.

If you look at the statistics this applies only for last year: 2000-2010 there has been relatively high amount of overtaking at Brazil.
--
2011 - relatively small amount of overtaking
2010 - relatively high amount of overtaking (2. biggest amount (dry races))
2009 - relatively high amount of overtaking (2. biggest amount (dry races))
2008 - High amount of overtaking due to mixed conditions
2007 - relatively high amount of overtaking
2006 - relatively high amount of overtaking

etc.

Forecasts aren't really relevant now. Even with 2 1/2hrs to go to the start, it's more about what the radars are saying than what a general weather site has as the forecast.

I hope you get to keep your signature. As for your question that depends, maybe if you don't watch it live it might somehow bring Alonso luck. :p

Does anyone know what the penalty Maldonado got for ignoring the Weigh-in lights?

I know he got a 10 place grid penalty, but was this the penalty imposed for ignoring the weigh-in or is it that he got a reprimand and since this was his 3rd reprimand he subsequently incurred a 10 place grid penalty??

Weather predictions even 2 hours before the race start are irrelevant due to the climate in brazil. We weren't expecting ANY q1 rain yesterday and it fell. As long as there are clouds in the sky, you can get rain.

Forecasts get more accurate as time goes on, and it is becoming less and less conducive for any convective development. The rain during the night has stabilized the atmosphere, and the more stable the atmosphere the less chance of rain.

I'm specifically on about those on general sites that might update nothing more than 2-4 times a day.

Even they tend to pick up on the atmospheric trends eventually.

Exactly. P3 for Alonso wouldn't be surprising at all with a Vettel DNF. Alonso did a podium in 12 out of 19 races this year even with Vettel.

Trying to be neutral, I'd say that a final race with both WDC contenders actually finishing it would be best for the viewers.

It's been a fantastic season, and fitting that it comes down to the final race. Either of the two men in the hunt will be deserving WDCs IMO. Just hoping for a fun, clean race with a bit of tension for the neutral! A finish 2008 style would be perfect.

Enjoy the race, everyone.

The less daylight heating from the sun there is the less likely there will be rain. The cloud cover is only going to help keep rain chances low.

You would think F1 journalists would actually understand the basics by now.

I believe that it will stay dry and we won't have a cracker. Easy race for Vettel.
