Adrian did recently say that the long-lead items are already, as usual, specified. The rules are largely unchanged and the big question is if it can be a worthy heir of the evolution of RBR cars starting with the RB5 which enabled the RBR drivers to collect enough points to secure six titles in the last three years.

A first question for you guys: Will the RB9 have a pull-rod front suspension?

There's nothing concrete available about the car, so why is this thread here anyway? :S

I disagree to be honest, there is good technical discussion to be had. Why do we necessarily need to be discussing news? :)

As I said in the RB8 thread I want the team to improve launch control and do something about the KERS failures.

I am curious to see how they will incorporate everything they developed this year into a refined and designed-from-the-start chassis. And also if they will focus on refinement or try to do something new. I think they have quite an upper hand as well, I don't think all the stuff they did are easy to copy and definitely not plug and play.

As far as the front pull-rod, I think they will give (or have given) it a look again but my guess is it's a toss-up whether they will go for it. Haven't they already said they didn't see that much benefit when they considered it in the past?

I think they started on that already. Otherwise I have no explanation how Vettels car could go on racing after that first lap crash with Bruno. But thank goodness it did.

an interesting question: is the cosmetic surgery to the stepped nose mandatory? if not, it will be interesting to see if they keep the step with the inlet.

Adrian is always walking around the grid with his notes and books scooping the fast cars every GP!

Can RB produce a tighter gearbox than Williams' in 2013? I doubt! and as they had so much KERS failures I think they'll change it!

It's not mandatory but it was implied most teams would use the rule to do the cosmetic modification.

I would have liked to see RBR setup the RB9 with a bit more top speed, but not sure that the new DRS rules for 2013 (reduced DRS use in qualy) will mean that it's an issue or not now...

Indeed.

There are threads where fans of all teams and drivers can discuss in general terms the new requirements for next years cars. That's all that can be done, at the moment, for the RB9.

I do not believe there is a thread about the renault alternator at the moment, but if you consider it an important talking point then you can discuss it in the thread for the existing car, or start a new one about that fault.

When there is some concrete news or even good rumours about the RB9, a thread can be started. Without that, I can;t see this thread serving as anywhere except a place for people to say 'hope it's fast' and for others to say 'hope it's slow'.
