And also Michael has driven 7 makes of Grand Prix cars:
1. Jordan. 2. Benetton. 3. Mercedes. 4. Ligier. 5. Ferrari. 6. Sauber. 7. Maserati

His helmet even drove in a McLaren

ps. Coulthard's helmet was fogging before the start of the 1996 Monaco GP. MS loaned him a helmet. Both teams had Marlboro branding then. So the helmet sponsors mainly matched.

Kudos - this is an excellent thread. It is amazing how much everything in Michael's life is connected to the number 7.

And TODAY is that special day: 7777 days since Michael first official F1 session which was Friday practice at Spa on 23 August 1991. :smoking:

But somehow this fact has been forgotten by Mercedes if judge by this article:

Michael: The Magnificent Seven

Hakkinen pitted immediately after MSC retired at Suzuka in 1998. His pitstop lasted 7.7 seconds. True story.

At San Marino 2006, Michael Schumacher took pole position, and in doing so, broke Ayrton Senna's record of 65 poles.

7² + 7 + 7 = 65 !!!

After his original retirement at Brazil 2006, Michael Schumacher scored a total of 154 podiums in his first career.

7² + 7² + 7² + 7 = 154 !!!

Everything (almost) recapped in news story form.

November 25th, 2012. Interlagos, Brazil.

Michael Schumacher finished the 2012 Formula One season and his career.
A career that seems to be dominated by the number 7.
Think I'm joking? Read along.

- He started his last season at the age of 43 (4+3=7)
- In his final race, he finished in 7th place, in car nr. 7.
- His 2012 points total was 49 (7x7) points.
- 49% (7x7) of these points were scored with four 7th place finishes.
- 7 (all but 1) of his points finishes were non-podium finishes.
- He failed to finish in 7 races this year.

Weird huh? But that's just one season. Let's look at his career.
- Lest we not forget, he is 7 times world champion.
- His career started at the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix, where he qualified his 7Up sponsored Jordan in 7th place.
- He won his first two championships in the Mild Seven Benetton team.
- When he moved to Ferrari, the team that would bring him his biggest successes, his first win in red was the 7th race of the season.
- He won both the Canadian Grand Prix and the San Marino Grand Prix 7 times, the record for both races.
- In 2004, he took the record for most consecutive wins in one season: 7.
- In 2004, he took the record for most wins for a championship runner-up: 7.
- His personal record (2nd all-time best) for most consecutive pole positions is 7.
- He has driven driven 7 makes of Grand Prix cars: Jordan, Benetton, Mercedes, Ligier, Ferrari, Sauber, Maserati.

During the race of champions, he also explicitly mentioned that he wants to have 7 nation cup titles (he has 6 at the moment).

Well, regarding Schumacher's last race, the number 7 is often regarded as the number of completeness.

[edit] And i posted this at 14:27.

Sauber wanted a second opinion of their car development and Ferrari and Sauber had a close cooperation. Schumacher was asked to do 7 laps in the first run. His best time was his 7th best lap time during testing at that track that year. True story.

He because of his injury before the start of the Silverstone Race in 1999 he only managed to participate in 7 consequtive Races in 1999 and then had to leave out 7 Races. He then took part in the last 2 races. Divide the 14 other races 1999 through the 2 he took part in, at the end of the season you also have a 7 again.

Ok this is now starting to get weird.

What about his last team-mate in F1 (Rosberg), who was consistently sitting 7th in WDC table between 2009-2012?
