I wonder if Neuville will ever make it through a rally without crashing the first day

No way Ogier is in any rookie state, this is his 4th full season in a WRC car and he has loads of experience from all the rallies.

No Ravenaks right. Any driver whos in his 6 consecutive season as a works driver in the WRC is clearly a rookie.... :rotfl:

Anyway, I think the real rally starts at 13:23 uk time today.

Interesting fact I read elsewhere, this is the first rally since 1977 that hasn't had a world champion on the entry list!

For once I will be cheering for Citroen. Hirvonen really needs a good result in Mexico. To be honest I don't see Sordo winning an event this year, his best chances should be on the tarmac in Germany but on gravel I really don't see it happening.

yeah, I decided not to listen to the radio cause I'm at work and it KILLS my efficiency. And I hoped I'll be able to see splits this time at least...

I can't believe Jari-Matti did it again...

EDIT: they say, he hit a rock, so I suppose he's okay (hope so because Dani says he didn't see him)

I can’t see VW putting up with that like Ford did – they’re not reliant on him for funding like Ford were. Talented though he is – there is something missing.

Novikov's problem was something with the engine. He's managed to reach the end of the stage

2 or 3 more at most and he'll be gone.
How a lad this mentally fragile ever ended up with a paid factory drive.....

so, Ostberg half a second faster than Ogier in SS5. It's getting very interesting.
Pity, I have to miss the next two stages.

Same here - his twitter feed is entertaining.

Feel a tad sorry for JML. I'm guessing he'll probably get half the season to sort himself out.

can't believe we are with the "are the official times right?" again. Now, it's Mikko's time in SS10 the one suspected to be wrong.
It's simply unacceptable.

EDIT: Confirmed. Mikko's time was wrong. Now, it's been corrected and he is back into 3rd position.

the Grosjean syndrome ... or more precisely, the villienuve syndrome. :smoking:

P.S i'm still fuming that no one gave Solberg a full season, he'd atleast would've scored for VW

No he didn't - that's a stupid comparison
Colin didn't even crash as after as tommi makinen.

Colin McRaes failure to score more than 1 title was caused by poor reliability from both Subaru and ford, but he gained a reputation at the start of his career and it stuck. He also never cried like a little girl after an accident because he had far greater mental strength!

podiums and ofcourse points. besides, solberg is way more of a character than JML, and he's fast.

Why he was royally beaten by JM last year then? JM even missed one rally because of a training injury and still beat Petter by 30 points.

Yes, exactly!! It's an urban myth that McRae was the WRC's biggest crasher, he wasn't - far from it. It's just a lazy myth. They even had a WRC crashes programme, and he was at the bottom if the Top10. In both 1997/98 the Title was lost because of the Subaru engine woes.....even in 2001, the Ford/Pirelli combination was woeful on dry Tarmac, and brought him no points in Corsica, Sanremo.

As for Latvala, he is a serial crasher, always has been. 10 years ago in the BRC he crashed in all but one round......
If he doesn't crash, he still finds trouble....
I may be proved wrong, but VW should have signed a reliable No2 to partner Ogier.

Looked like he cut that corner way more than anyone else and found a rock. He nearly had all 4 wheels off trying to cut it, so yea, I think he gets the blame for that one.

Jari said in TV that he had compared the onboards of Mikko and himself and found out that Mikko cut the corner much more. And probably all the drivers have recced that corner as a "cut", someone just dragged that rock to the driving line.

Looks like RK caused some good for rallying even before his first start. TV4 in Poland signed deal for all WRC rounds - though I don't know the details. The more coverage, the better I guess

Well Kimi didn't get much more coverage than normal and he was doing the actual wrc. And he's a former F1 champ......

So this was so far the only effective way to counter the Ogier-VW package:

 People are mean.
It's funny because nothing really happened and Ogier has got a time compensation, but had the rally been close, à la New Zealand 2010, and we would have there a big scandal.

I think we saw how it was possible at the end of the clip - as Ogier moved forward, the gate started to close again. It should have been secured open but either wasn't or came loose. Was he running first on the road? If so, maybe some spectator misbehaviour?
