Well, I'd say he did reasonably well. Kubica, I mean.

He was loosing 2,86 s/km to best WRC. I guess it's pretty fair to say that was impressive for first stages ever on gravel for him.

Considering he wasn't driving WRC car I'd say his time was very good.

TBH Robert's time isn't that impressive, it's more like Mikkelsen's time is utter crap...

he is the first non-WRC car and he improved at each passage
4'06 -> 4'01 -> 3'57
I think it's pretty good

final ranking

For a first time on gravel, in a car slower than the front runners, it's an impressive performance from Kubica. It's a case of seeing how he'll develop from here and how he'll do in the real rally.

It's fastest non-wrc time in history of Fafe Sprint and it still doesn't impress you?

Loeb's 4 race retirement is just BS for the battle we are going to miss against Ogier.

He's also driving the fastest non-WRC car to have ever entered Fafe

Cool video from Fafe
This is why Roberts rallying instead of fannying around in DTM

I love the Portuguese passion for rally! Glad robert kept it on the road, lets see how he fairs this weekend when its more then 12 minutes of total run time, but the prospects looked pretty good

I think Robert did very well - putting the car where it belong on his gravel debut.

DS3 R5.

And citroen announced some drivers programme, with a reward of R5 drive for next year. Details are here I think.

Don't worry, the thread will go manic tomorrow.
Loved the footage of Robert from Fafe, looking forward to seeing him hanging it out on gravel and......most importantly
Glad to see him HAPPY, he seems in a good place after all the misfortune

Its called the Citroen Top Driver Programme takes place within the framework of the WRC3 championship.
8 drivers using the Citroen DS3 R3 have entered with the winner winning an impressive prize - 6 WRC2 rounds next year in the new DS3 R5.

Favorites are probably 2011 Rallye Monte Carlo winner Bryan Bouffier & 3 time British Champion Keith Cronin.
My moneys on Cronin

Welcome to the rally-threads at Autosport. We've usually been a small gang of rally enthusiasts, but it won't be much activity. Now joined by a larger group of Kubica fans that are in the range of "knowing quite a lot of rallying" and "don't know a thing, but I will follow Kubica" :)
Last years thread ended on 34 pages ;)

So... To say somathing on topic - I'm quite excited for several reasons, one of them is RK start obviously, which is very interesting IMO. Plus I'm big fan of Bobby K :) I will be delighted if he finishes the rally.

We should see the pace of VW which will tell us, whether this year will be indeed dominated by Ogier. I mean, I hope it won't be dominated so maybe I'm fooling myself.

And, since I'm big fan of extreme music, I support Finns obviously - so will be cheering for JML and Mikko. They need good results.

I would also like Kościuszko to show some pace finally.

And so far on the second run, it's Robert Kubica who is quickest in WRC2, Lappi hasn't been through for a second run yet.

There's nothing wrong with the mini.
Put meeke or Sordo in it and they wouldn't be very far off the pace

Expect IIRC it brakes all the time (misfires etc);)
You've misunderstood me (which I expected, TBH :D) BTW. I;m not implying that it's down to the car.

While Kosciuszko wasn't that useless, the part "don't get your hopes high" meant that I wouldn't expect any really good result. The fact that the car seems not to be working well and is slower makes it even less possible.

Kosciuszko's car is from Motorsport Italia (they used it last year) and that one really is just pure shit.

Kosciusko quite from the end if ss1 on irally: "....the car is amazing". I'm not arguing with you, Motorsport italias car prep does seem to be fairly sub standard but it did give me a laugh this morning!

So he is faster then he thought to be :). 1,5 s/ km of loss would be 30 s.;)

Yeah, the gap is only 0,75s/km. If he can keep the gap under 1s/km it will be an excellent result.

Good start from RK i think.

what is most intresting for me right now is the tyre situation, wonder if Ogier made a little or really massive mistake. Soft tyres show signs of wear already after 1 stage.

Kubica 11:39.1: Front left tyre of DS3 off rim, poss overheating, alarm showing, doesn't speak, coolant trail showing as car moves away....

Update on Kubica, he's moving again & on his way to SS3. He has managed to seal the hole in the radiator.
