Mistake maybe (most probably)?

Actually it's probably a mistake, I only looked at the car he had entered with. Now I noticed that he has entered to WRC2 so something is not correct.

And a few more WRC entries: Hänninen gets a Ford and Nikara a Mini.

Thar would mean that Citroën enter a 4th car, and for the first time this year, not for Loeb?

Kris Meeke are taking Khalid Al Qassimi's DS3 seat for Rally Finland!

"Kris deserve it I think he will do a good job for the team. And sometime you need to give talented people a chance. "

Atkinson drove a DS3 in Mexico.

About Kubica, that's probably just a mistake. Good to see Hanninen back though!

BTW if anyone wants to see the provisional entry list here is a link: https://akk.autourhe...p...3368&edit=0

Just select the 'Osallistujat' tab. :) And the entries close in 30 minutes.

And that was the third Citroën. No Al Qassimi there ;)

I wish there was also footage of other drivers from WRC. It looks sweet: http://www.youtube.c...eature=youtu.be

Bryan Bouffier announced as the second Hyundai test driver.

A strange decision.
After 10,000's of kms testing the DS3 R3 he still cant match the quickest stage times in that Citroen WRC Trophy but somehow he's the man to develop their new WRC......
Yes I understand he gives good feedback but to know how a car feels on the ragged edge you have to be capable of driving on the ragged edge in the first place.
Then again, I guess thats why PSA were so keen to resign Meeke.....

A strange decision.

Really? A highly experienced tarmac driver - French & Polish Rally Champion, Monte Carlo winner etc.

Who would you have recommended Hyundai to use?

Who would you have recommended Hyundai to use?

Loix
Duval
Neuville
Mark Higgins
Atkinson
Solberg
Cronin
PG andersson
Tanak
Marko Martin

Gosh, there's a name I sadly haven't seen in a long time... does anybody know what Martin is up to these days?

But not fast

Fast enough to win national championships and the Monte. How many of your list below have managed that?

Loix - not quick either - never shone at WRC level and probably past his best
Duval - was quick sometimes, but inconsistent Doubt if he is better than Bouffier
Neuville - yes, a definite possibility
Mark Higgins - too little, too late
Atkinson - really? And you say that Bouffier is slow!
Solberg - he has lost it, and is pretty rubbish at development. Made the Subaru go slower each year.
Cronin - rather unproven
PG andersson - I would like to see him get a decent chance, but he is not a tarmac specialist (assuming that is what Hyundai were looking for)
Tanak - still unproven
Marko Martin - retired and shows no inclination to come back.

To be fair, the fact that Loeb is ahead of both of them in the championship having competed in less than half the number of events is pretty pitiful. I think Loeb is in the position to be honest about their performances so far this year.

Absolutely. IMO it was a very good event in 2009 and now with Kubica in WRC it could be even better. :)

This is the WRC - there's every chance that will be the case.

I understand the need for new markets, especially the BRIC countries – as long as there interest there for the WRC – however, this isn’t F1. Previously, both China & Jordan ran events with very few spectators......What is the point???

But the powers that be seem to be happy to drop ‘Classic’ events; Sanremo, Corsica, Safari – and now possibly Acropolis. Add in a watered down UK round and discussion about NZ...... I’m not sure they know what they really want.

NZ or Acropolis will go. Cant remember where I read that, possibly a David Evans column.
SanRemo have started an online petition to try and get the event back which in my mind would be fantastic.
Now that Loebs gone (well after this year) they should move France back to Corsica while they're at it.

I dont mind new events as long as they meet 2 simple criteria:
>Rallying is popular in the area (Poland/Ireland come to mind. Jordan/China were not(although according to the UK based Chinese championship regulars it is now a huge sport there)
>The stages are good (NZ being the prime example. Jordan/China/Sardinia/France (Alsace) fall down here)

Personally I would drop Mexico from the current calendar. I mean, they only had 25 starters this year and I don't recall that it was a huge spectator success either.

Mexico probably has the best ceremonial start of them all. Add to that the spectacular opening stage and you get a very decent crowd.

Romanias "we have money, who cares if no one enters" ERC round starts at 2pm today
Only 3 regulars: Kopecky, Bouffier and Delecour.

Anyone know if there's live TV coverage?

Hmm, I’m not sure about the ERC – it’s extremely hit or miss, whether through entries and/or media coverage. Some events look really good, and have good TV, but others just look poor, and not really worthy of the ERC. Highlights at midnight isn’t really cutting it, is it?

As it’s the first year of the ‘new improved’ ERC – we have to be patient, but I want to see improvements in the future.

I think there are highlights on British Eurosport 2 at 9.30 on Sunday evening. Just half an hour. Eurosport's promotion of the ERC seems pretty thin sadly.

Poor quality entry again (even if it did include the Romanian Prime Minister! Can you imagine posh Dave competing in Rally GB? No, me neither) which I think points up the rather odd selection of events for this championship. To attract serious attention, it needs more quality events like Ieper, Corsica and San Remo rather than all these odd events in the backwoods of Europe. Major sponsors won't be interested in those events, especially with the hit and miss TV coverage that Eurosport is offering.

Their problem is that there isn't exactly a queue of events willing to hand over the required cash to Eurosport so at the minute it seems any rally will do......

Ogier win.
Latvala will be fast and challenge.
Hirvinen should too or he may as well quit now.
Meeke top 6 if he behaves himself
Nikara will impress too

Lappi, Paddon and Ketomaa will all be fast in WRC2 - The 1st time Kubica has had proper competition and a good indicator of his true pace

Fisher for WRC3

Well, i suspected that this may well be the case, but it does beg the question of what these events are getting for their money. Few major entrants, patchy late night TV coverage, no other media interest as far as I can see. Not much of a bargain.

But then, the ERC has never been a very credible championship. Back in the 'old days' it had a myriad of rounds but of different coefficients so that winning one event could net you four times more points than winning another one. Until someone sets up a serious ERC with seven or eight really good events that don't clash with the WRC, it will continue to be a joke, rather than the serious feeder series and bridge between national championships and the WRC. They seem to manage better with the ASia-Pacific Championship, but perhaps in Europe we are spoiled for choice of events.

The fight for win and the podium will be(unless they crash) Ogier/Latvala/Hirvonen. Would be great if Mikko could take it though.
Nikara will make a big impression if he stays on the road, as should Hänninen.
A difficult situation for Kris, a very long break from rallying and comeback in the fastest rally of the season. It will probably take some time to get up to speed but he should post some good times.
In WRC2 it's hard to look past the R5s, Ketomaa will probably take it. Lappi will be challenging but the Skoda might not be fast enough anymore. Kubica will be in the mix as well.

I will be keeping my fingers crossed for Jari-Matti, he is the only one who can take the fight to Ogier. Other than that I think this rally can be the final nail in the coffin of Mikko's Citroen future.
WRC2 is going to be perhaps more interesting than WRC, with all those drivers and new R5s. I won't be surprised if R5 have significant advantage over S2000s and RRCs.
First time in Finland won't be easy for Kubica either. If we are to believe his own words, he does not expect to be fighting for victory.
