It's so damn close, so cool. Screw every other race tomorrow, this is just too awesome.

Indeed, this is getting very exciting. Can Loeb take a home win in his last ever rally in the town in which he was born? It seems almost too good to be possible - but for his sake I hope he can do it, as it would be the perfect way to end his career.

this rally is quite amazing, it has been so long I didn't see something so close!

True, though damn shame for Neuville :(

we had live TV from France and it was fantastic. With current format. It was a living example why this idea is useless. If anything, just improve broadcast itself (couple cameras more, second heli even) and it will be enough. There is nothing radical to fix with the sport itself...

i really didn't understand what they wanted to do ... surely a driver at 10th position has a shot at becoming champ ... then why he has to settle for a best of 9th ???

or can somebody can explain what the hell the format is???     i'm confused ....

Stupid stupid stupid idea......

When they're going that far why not give them a form of DRS too?

If you're within 10 seconds of the car in front o/a you're allowed open the restrictor on the turbo to help. I'm sure TTE still have some old turbos lying around that could be used for this.......

I'm disappointed that Todt is even entertaining this

Yet more gimmicks. When are they going to learn? They just don't get it. As if the sport hasn't changed enough in the last 10-15 years - and not for the better.

It won't add anything.....So, a driver could be a minute clear of 2nd place, and is beaten by 0.2 secs on the power stage, and finishes 2nd overall?? No, thanks.... Completely against what the sport is all about.

It would be like deciding Le Mans in the final hour, with fastest lap wins; despite being 1-10 laps behind. Fortunately, the ACO wouldn't even dream of such gimmicks.

He isn't,

It says that he 'remains sceptical' about it, which is polite diplomatese for 'thinks it is a totally daft idea'.  But as he behaves in a less dictatorial way than his unlamented predecessor, he is careful not to just reject it outright, rather to let people come to the realisation that it is a rotten idea.

Bingo. Todt isn't daft - he knows this hasn't a hope in hell of going through and would rather let it fizzle out of its own accord than get involved and alienate people.

2 days ago Autosport wrote that Meekke could do last rally of the season with Citroen.
Now its rumored that Kubica might participate in WRC car in the same rally.
Do you think its possible that Citroen would replace their both drivers for Wales?

They can't replace Hirvonen because he has been nominated as the number 1 driver by Citroen and he has to compete in every rally.

Volkswagen's Jost Capito admitted he had seen and heard the criticisms of the potential change, but he remained in favour.

...

"We are very much in favour of this plan from the promoter, it was some of our plan as well."

I see a conflict of interests right there.

Todt has to be polite towards Red Bull, but at the same time tell them to come up with better plans than this.

They would just need to change restrictor and aero in Robert's RRC. But I've read it would be Al-Qassimi's car

If he does well he might very well get a factory drive next year.  :)

It's on autosport as well: http://www.autosport...t.php/id/110642

Hopefully he gets fair amount of time in the car before rally to feel the limits. Maybe tarmac would be better for him for the first start, but screw it. It's gonna be long month waiting.

Winning a WRC round isn't that easy.  Just ask Kimi.  Those career rally drivers turned out to be a tougher nut to crack than his fans expected!

Although Kubica does seem to be more of a rally driver than Kimi.  Perhaps, if he sticks to it for a couple of seasons, he can challenge.  It will certainly be interesting to see how well he can do.

And in meantime Colin Clark on Twitter: More interesting news about Robert Kubica this morning. Rumour is he’s close to a deal with M-Sport for full season in WRC car in 2014.

Question is who would be his partner as Neuville is probably heading off M-Sport to Hyundai according to gossips.

Hmmm. Would Robert sign with M-Sport before he's done the rally with Citroen in Wales? Surely it would make sense to wait before agreeing to anything - unless Citroen aren't able to offer a full time seat next year.

Just rumors, but it's #voiceoftherally and in every rumor is a little bit of truth.
Anyway looks like M-Sport is in talks with Robert at least.

If that was tarmac rally i would say Robert could get close to top3.

In Wales i think he should have seed for top5-6.

I guess you count on some of the ususal suspects going off then? 5-6th, means that he'll beat more than one of: Hirvonen, Sordo, Latvala, Ogier, Østberg, Mikkelsen, Neuville & Novikov!

Other than that, Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari will drive Fiesta WRC in Spain. Which means, if Kubica wins or get second WRC2 in Spain. He is the champion.

If it was tarmac I'm sure he would be fighting for win. Yes, for win. He drove WRC before which were even faster then nowdays WRC, and he was regulary under 1sek/km to best WRC in France, and on some stages he was faster than Ostberg. On gravel I'm not so sure but if it was germany all over again anything can happen.

Sorry to say, but it's bs. Only once he was under 1s/km Here you have all of his losses in France to stages winners:

+1,63 +1,67 +3,60 +2,07 +1,60 +2,00 +1,68 +2,24 +1,99 +2,02 +1,73 +2,08 +1,50 +2,47 +3,38 +1,66 +1,62 +1,68+ 0,88 +1,79s/km

And with RRC correction (about 1,4s/km I believe):

+0,23 +0,27 +2,20 +0,67 +0,20 +0,60 +0,28 +0,84 +0,59 +0,62 +0,33 +0,68 +0,10 +1,07 +1,98 +0,26 +0,22 +0,28 -0,52 +0,39s/km

I think we'll just have to wait and see what happens; it would truly be incredibly difficult to try to make any kind of educated guess as to where he'll be. All I'm hoping is that he can finish, that he'll get some good information and experience for next year and that it'll be a good rally all around.
