Open source vehicle dynamics scripts for Octave and hopefully matlab(not at first sight). If you look arund there's also some dissertations

Let me know how you go, progress this side of the equator has been a bit slow.
Thus far I have discovered that you need the Controls package installed in Octave otherwise it calls ss to no avail, you probably need MikTex to look at reports, and that as usual getting a new version of Octave to run is a pita.
Late edit, and if you are using an old version of Octave then the compatible version of Control lacks 'minreal'.
