Thanks guys, if we can break the biggest stronghold, the USA, then it might be a big building block getting to see 2 strokes compete for major titles again across the world.

From the 2011 and 2012 AMAPro-MX rulebooks:

3.1 Engine Displacements
a. 250 Motocross Class:0 – 125cc 2-Stroke / 150 – 250cc 4-stroke
b. 450 Motocross Class:150 – 250cc 2-Stroke / 251 – 450cc 4-stroke

That petition was from 2010 and was aimed at Motocross only. There hasn't been any two-stroke roadracing at AMA pro level for nearly 10 years, ever since they dropped the 250 class. There are still 2 strokes being raced at club and national series level.

Signed

What is wrong with this world?

Four strokes are dinosaurs and should be banned due to their complexity, manufacturing costs and emmisions (from the mouths of noxious farts who think they are wonderful :stoned: ).

Hi Robin, If you look closely at the petition it reads

This petition was generated to enact the following change to the AMA Pro Racing Rulebook Section 3.1: Allow 100-150cc 2-strokes in the 250 class and 151-300cc 2-strokes in the 450 class.

equal class is allowed in amatuer events and the petition is still live, it states clearly which type of sport it is.

we are not banned in writing but we might aswell be under current pro regulation, thats why this current rule was changed to ensure anyone who wanted to compete in pro nationals had to use a very old bike. (and if they qualify they get put on the outside of the gate)

the new 2 strokes like the Ossa direct injection and KTM etc are all 300cc to get away from the old stereotype 'double capacity' nonsense and give a chance to try and get racing in the USA's top level at supercross/motocross, this might then,as i say lead to new avenues.

road racing is a while away yet. Thanks

Just putting petrol on the fire ! Now let me guess ' half the size ' ' no development ' (apart from the 50 years up to 2011) You still have to ride it !!
