As there is no Monaco Historique next year, I'm not going to the F.o.S and I'm assuming my daughter won't get married again in 2013, I might just pop over to London for this one.

It will be wonderful to go up the Palace again.

On the 7th & 9th of September the Bo'ness Hillclimb Revival Meeting will be taking place. Not sure yet if there are any special celebrations to run in tandem but will keep you posted.

The 6th Cholmondeley POP will be on the weekend 14th - 16th June. Not sure what the theme will be for 2013.

In the absence of the much missed Boxing Day Brands race meeting I could blow the winter cobwebs away on Saturday at the Brands Hatch Rally Stages organised by the Chelmsford Motor Club.

A healthy entry of about 70 cars including quite a few historic rally cars used four stages around part of the club circuit, the paddock, the rally school stage and the perimiter roads and tracks. There was quite a healthy crowd and my first opportunity to take some pictures of rally cars.

The meeting content is:

Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club pre-1966 race for the Norman Dewis Trophy
Healey Driver International challenge race for the Tim Rogers Memorial Trophy (3000s) and Dave Hardy Memorial Trophy (100s).
VSCC Pre-war Standard and Modified Sports cars
The Fifties Sports Car Racing Club (FISCAR) Intermarque challenge
FISCAR Fliers 1950s small sports-racing cars
Historic Aston Martins.

While it is predominately a race meeting, other machinery is being lined up for demonstration runs, including event sponsor Julian Bronson in his Scarab, plus a Bristol Motor Club display and parade of pre-1970 cars.

Admission is only £15 (65 and over £10, Under 17s free).

Race 12 does not strike me as either being "historic" or for "sports-cars".

Discuss.

I don't know about the 'historic' aspect but I can't see the word 'sports' anywhere in the race 12 title.

Probably because they are saloon/touring cars :)

HSCC... I stopped being a member when they began to lose focus on what they set themselves up for, if that makes sense. I'm sure that they have not missed me at all. ;)
I also stopped being a member of the VSCC when they abandoned the North of England; another silent protest! :|

I though that those two clubs had agreed to put on a race for cars from the other club at their larger meetings; so one might have hoped to see some Vintage cars at the Gold Cup, rather than Primeras and other modern dross. Rant ends. :)

Do they not still run events such as the Lakeland, the Derbyshire Trial and the Bowland Rally, Pete? I have to say it's a while since I was a member.

Indeed they do still run trials, hill-climbs, pub meets and the like but no circuit racing; one meeting per year at Cadwell Park and Mallory Park are as far North as they get; nothing at Oulton Park and now nothing at Donington Park.

Paul Smith leads Patrick Watts on lap 2 of the Super Touring race - One lap later at Cascades (by which time I had moved) it would end in tears for the

The dice for second place in the Historic Touring Cars was seldom further apart than this. Tim Davies leads Neil Brown (just!)

Nice to see Messrs Arron, Rainford, elansprint, Giraffe, slurp1955, pressman, AuroraF1 (working his socks off), Cirrus, Delta, race-sponsor Mallory Dan and Nick Savage with his Camaro around and about over the three days.

Cheshire was on its best behaviour with unbroken good weather from midday on Saturday - and the biggest crowd I have seen since the HSCC took over the Gold Cup meeting.

What a superb week-end, great to see so many TN Effers (although I missed a couple).

I still wonder if the HSCC are running some of these races solely for their members, rather than the spectators; nobody loves Chevron sports cars (etc) more than me but TWO races with only a dozen starters? If we are to encourage new spectators, that is not the way to go, imho.

Here we have a delightful Arkley Spridget doing the Lambeth Walk- got to smile!

Ah, thanks for that. I'm sorry to commit the heresy (on here at least) of admitting that most single-seaters are very similar to my inexperienced eyes, so once the programme had multiple number 17s in it, that was the end*. And while I have no trouble recognising a Ford Sierra, that one isn't in the entrants list (from the web site) at all.

(* By that I mean, I posted the snaps, then remembered the furore when I posted some from CPOP without captions, so frantically opened the entrants list and tried to fill them in. Clearly I can see the difference between that Chevron and, say, a FF1600, but not without searching around for comparison shots - I certainly couldn't look at any of them and say 'ah yes, that's a whatever-it-is')

The registration number is the correct one but whether it is the same car is more difficult to say.  Rally cars are often re-shelled after crashes or after long usage, and likewise engines are changed.  A bit like Grandad's broom.

It certainly brought a tear to my eye watching that orange Modus on Monday. I saw quite a few Atlantic races in 1975, and my unreliable memory tells me Tony won them all.

And didn't young Mr Mitchell do the car proud? Very much 'on the pace' for an Atlantic and joining the six-way battle for the lead of the second Derek Bell race, mixing it with F1 and F5000 cars

Yes indeed. What a tremendous race that second Derek Bell event was - having watched the move happen right in front of me, I still can't quite get my head round how young Lyons managed to pass Greg Thornton for the lead at Britten's.

Could some kind soul point me towards the Gold Cup meeting results; I've looked all over the HSCC and MSV websites and can't find them. This is most certainly pilot error but...

Thanks in advance.  Pete.
