The Dakar 2013 Thread

Whilst it's the same 3 countries as last year, the route is different. Beginning in Lima, Peru, then travelling over 8000kms to Santiago in Chile via Argentina (which will also host the rest day. (Day 8 this year!! ). 5th-20th January
Runners and riders here Whilst the usual suspects appear ready to give us a an exciting couple of weeks, I'll be cheering for Sam Sunderland and James West as well
Is there anyone that you will be watching out for?

Coma is recovering from a shoulder injury he sustained in Morocco. He says he's not 100% yet but plans to race as soon as he can.
Not a bad deal for a full ride with an RGM car. It doesn't look like anyone bought the ride.

Well Coma is away, but the good part is that this year there will be no cheats from the organizers! The frenchies will not need to gift Despres the Dakar title like previous years!

To me there are much more cheating from French organizers...
Over the years certainly and I some of the old anger returns when I start to think about certain decisions in certain years... I would love to have a more international team handling the Dakar, such a national bias has done no sport much good.
In any case I still dislike Gordon, as a sportsman, not as a driver.

British Eurosport seems to only have very limited coverage ( far worse than previous years!) - Is the dakar being shown on any other UK available TV station?
They've got a 30 mins highlights programme everyday, with the occasional 'live' show as well, so no worse than previous years?

It used to be on around 10pm and a repeat the following morning around 7am. From the TV listing I've seen it's on at 0030 and no repeat the following morning.

Honestly though, it was pretty useless last year, constantly crashing and providing dated information, which have hopefully been ironed out for this year's event.

I like Robby but if I were driving a Hummer I don't know that I'd be calling the other guy's car ugly...
The Qatar Red Bull buggies were made by Damen Jeffries down the road a piece in Apple Valley, CA.
