I am currently carving a balsa wood bodyshell for the BRM V16 Mk1/No 1 as raced by Reg Parnell at Pedralbes in 1950.

Thanks to Volume 1 of BRM, The Saga of British Racing Motors I know that the car ran in the pale green colour scheme with red nose band and tail tip and in practice had white race numbers. I would be grateful if anyone could confirm if these numbers were replaced for black numbers on race day as was the case with Peter Walker's sister car.

Thanks very much for any help.

There's a very poor quality photo on this Spanish site which is captioned as Parnell at Barcelona. The number is either black or some other darkish colour:

The several Pena Rhin pictures in Anthony Pritchards recent V16 BRM book shows that both cars had black numbers for the actual race.

Thank you both for clarifying that for me.
