Damn, this car is the most beautiful car since 2009. And it's not the true F138, but only a F2012C.

This car at Abu Dhabi and Singapore will be fantastic.

Yeah. She does look good under lights.

From the picture at the top of this article you can see that the rear end looks a lot different from last year. Also they now have 6 vertical fins on top of the diffuser, something the RB8 had last year.

well, new RB has even tighter rear than us...:well:

It's amazing what a hint of black and a smooth nose can do!

Ferrari won't be showing off the rear of the car until Barcelona test apparently.

Unlike many, I'm digging the new livery. Testing this week won't be too interesting but is better than nothing. Let's hope for a good Aero package coming for the last test/Melbourne. Forza Ferrari!!

I rather like the white stripe :)

Quite happy with how the car looks this year, especially at the rear.

Lets hope we start out strong and have a decent car for Melbourne. If we're close to the top we can certainly work from there

Sidepods, exhaust outlet and engine covers look very similar to post-canada F2012 imo. Only change is the new gearbox at this time. Do you guys think this will change?

The team said they had new sidepods and exhaust system. This one is the same that last year, so yes, it will change at the last test.

Just saw your post saying the same thing.
Surely RedBull can't make theirs much smaller. The reason they made their sidepods and rear smaller than Ferrari at least is that they go much more marginal than Ferrari on reliability. But even so, like you said I can't wait to see the new things on the car for Barca.

I was about to pour cold water on the slimming sidepods and rear for final test theory then I remembered Mclaren did exactly that at the last test last year.

Barca in feb will be rather interesting! You guys expecting a quiet Jerez I take it. At least expectations should be lower than last year.

In Mugello, Ferrari brought out 3 different exhaust/sidepod bodywork in 3 days. It is possible.

Expectations are a lot lower yes. I hope it's a quiet one. I know you joined this year, but check out the F2012 thread part I, for the true horror of what transpired this time last year. We hope this year is a lot less hectic.

To be honest I love the look of it. This week I will mostly look at those things which are intended to stay for a long time and are hard to change.

I do hope the sidepods do change quite a bit. Both Sauber and RB have miniature ones compared to us.

I would rather Ferrari just put the new parts on sooner then later, test test test, and stop playing games holding parts until the last moment. I can see them at the final test scratching their heads again going why are the new side pods / etc not working!

They aren't playing games. The parts won't be ready until the last test.

it's time to be hopeful, why not? Car looks fast :drunk:

about Jerez test what really matters, IMO, is that team gets EXACTLY what engeneers expect in terms of aero performance. No more no less, Ferrari needs a good and reliable base to grow from and then keep the development race.

of course be fast just out the box would be a nice start and some people here would rest (in peace)

Looking at the pictures that SCUD posted, the exhausts seem to have moved quite a bit forward compared to last year. If I'm not mistaken, McLaren has done the same thing? The rest of the aero update will be at the 3rd test at the earliest. So, the first 2 tests should be about bedding down the mechanical components, play with the suspension, check that the car is responsive to set-up changes etc. Hopefully, it should allow us to develop in a number of different areas through the year.

Love the new livery!

Good to see you again CX! but I think most fans love the new livery.I think it's the best Ferrari livery ever!.I Agree that there's alot of work to be done on the aero and great structural foundations have been layed with better-lighter-tighter internals and reworked pull rods both front and rear to allow a larger scope for greater aero potential.

The appearance of new parts is normally set by their manufactoring time - Carbon parts take a few weeks to get from the drawing board onto the car. I am sure there is an element of gamemanship - but at this time of year they must all be rushed off their collective feet :)

 No team will ever put the completely new aero pack at launch except perhaps the backmarkers like Marusia or Caterham that lack the resources to develope lots of new parts in Winter testing.
No top team wants to give away too many design concepts at launch for rival teams to see.ABC for F1.

At Jerez I'll be interested to see the new Diffussor un-unveiled at launch and if new front(more likely)or rear wings are introduced already.

I'm not saying they are amature's, but last year they didn't put the final parts on until the final test. We all know how that turned out. It's not that i'm not being positive, but I just want the car to be a rocket ship from day one. I couldn't handle another year like last year. I'm still not over Brazil :S

... Ferrari President Montezemolo wanted to remember Gianni Agnelli who died almost exactly 10 years ago... in 2003 the F2003 was named after him; F2003 GA

One question,

a problem of F2012 was the maximum speed. The reason was the radiotors system, because they was in vertical position so to have more resistance. The other cars have got the inclined radiators to have more surface to a lesser height. The F138, I think has got the same radioator system. Is it possible?

I don't think we are sure, but the consensus seems that they have gone with the vertical radiators. I don't know if it will change, but they got a good top speed from them at Hock/India, so I don't think max speed is an issue.

I guess we will find out tomorrow.

Right: I hope for no reliability issues. No phone-call from Felipe to Luca telling him the car is crap like last year either.
And that Felipe and observers say it handles like one of the best, up there with the Macs.

Let's see though...

The nose is hardly that bad. I bet if McLaren had done something similar it would have been the next best thing to sliced bread.

The top speed problem only existed in the early season, and probably was simply caused by their initially bad aero. I didn't see a top speed problem at least after summer.

But the undercut on the Ferrari is much sharper and bigger. Room for loads of air there.

Caterham completely copied our sidepods, very fast they are reaching widest point with early and long coke bottle and bulge in the top, even bargeboard are the same , GA was wrong and someone followed us.
