It saddens me enormously to hear that my friend, colleague and ace photographer Michael C Brown passed away suddenly yesterday.

A proud husband and father, Michael was one of the genuine good guys.

My sincere condolences to his family and all those who, like me, counted him as a friend.

Rest in peace MCB. You will be hugely missed.

Feeling a bit numb about this, Stuart.

I hadn't seen Michael all that often in recent years - although the last time was just a few weeks ago, when we were both working in Austin - but his company was always a pleasure. He was a wonderful photographer and an even better bloke.

What sad news, yes Michael was a super snapper and, as is usually the case with true talent, he was a modest and nice man. I had not spoken to him since he moved to the USA, but still feel his loss enormously.

It was sad to see the news on Facebook this morning. Michael was a brilliant photographer who seemed happy to share his work with others. Life seemed good and he was always proud of his son Seth's karting exploits. RIP Michael and my sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Such sad news, I never met Michael, although corresponded with him via FB, he loved our sport like us all, ans such a talented snapper.

His albums kept me going through 18 months of nightshifts , and as you say he was such a great bloke, often popping up for a chat when a comment was left, a real enthusiast and a great Father to his kids. I feel so sorry for his family at this time, its truly heart breaking.

I have no words to describe what I thought when I opened this forum in the morning, as I usually do when I am at home; and see the horrific title of this topic.
I never met personally Mr. Brown; I even't spoke to him a lot of times on Facebook or by email; but everytime I contacted him he always had an answer for an amateur and unknown like me; he always had a word. When I started developing my contacts and searching fro drivers and other motorsport-related people, I found several through his wonderful albums, and he helped me when I asked for additional help identifying a driver, and contacting him. He was an amazing photographer, and a great man and he will be sadly missed. I can only spoke for professional things, because I feel bad for even speaking for more, as I never met or spoke often with him. But it's my tribute.

RIP Michael C. Brown

Which he generously shared in massive numbers - without captions, but always ready to answer the inevitable questions, as an ongoing & enjoyable WWW.

Terrible news    I have always enjoyed his photography. Here you can read the life story of Michael, as written by himself two years ago:

Very sad news. Oh, dear, I really don't want to be reading things like this. Terrible, terrible news.

I remember him from the US in the early nineties. He always seemed to have time for everybody and anything.

I notice from the link that his "introduction" to the sport was very much like my own - a Scalextrix set and a pricture of Jim Clark. Incredible. How many people, I wonder, started their interest that way?

Rest in peace, Michael.
