I see what you did there. :cat:

It was interesting to hear that he hurt his legs a bit during the crash. Isn't there padding around the legs inside an F1 car?

It will be minimal padding, there simply isn't the room to put much in. You will see quite a few drivers wearing strap-on padding around the knees as that area is in contact with the cockpit sides just about all the time.

I'm just bring it to your attention, no need to get touchy.

That's because you are a troll with a condescending little Bisch attitude. You got called out, backtracked and then come back for more? Seriously...move on

Me too, but especially keen on seeing tire deg through the fast sweeping corners.

ISTR left front is the problem at Barca.

We ought to get some clues about downforce, anyway.

Left front rather than right front? Purely from driving Catalunya on F1 2010 I remember thinking the sweeping, high downforce turns were left to right - i.e. right front being the inside wheel. Could be wrong though!

I really hope they get their rear tyre preservation up to the level of other teams.

Also, I thought the second test was next week, what a nice surprise.

yeah, but the outside is the more loaded side, hence front left.

Wow, interesting, I thought it was the opposite. Does the weight of the car shift left around a right hand turn or something? Like when you turn right and your head swings to the left because it's still going in that direction?

Exactly, just like the weight shifts forward while braking and rearwards accelerating.

Hello, Been waiting for a loooong time. Now, Merc need to develop the car to suit Mr Hamilton  , Why ? You scream ! Why not just make the car faster "overall" ?
Well, 1:Nico's a fast guy but Lewis fast? Come on be realistic for a moment :| 2:Remember Last year, When Mr Button had his little slump upon returning to europe :( . Would this coincide with certain developments that, Let's say suited Lewis more than jenson ?. Now ! You shout, This is true of most drivers and I will agree, But lewis seems to pull more from a car that suits "his" driving style than most. I think a good illustation of this would be the Top Gear lap, Same car, same conditions but 1.1 seconds :stoned:.
If Merc can move foward even a little this year, Its not enough, Prep for 2014 be dammed  . So lets hope they see how good he is when he can fully use the skills he was born with. Regards CSM.

Most of the sweeping turns shift the weight to the left side at Catalunya. They're going to have their work cut out for them here. If they don't learn how to get the tire wear under control, it's going to be a long season.

The car wants to keep going straight whenever you turn the wheel, which is why the weight shifts to the outside tire.

Heat protection on the rear of the car, makes it look crazy tight.

I think it looks like they've gotten rid of the bulge around the gearbox, rather than the heat protection creating an optical illusion.

I'm still not too sure about the car, it doesn't pass the visual test for me compared to most other cars.

And the three winglets in front of the sidepod have become a single piece judging from jrg's photo.

I think everyone wants it to look simple more than anything, maybe just because of the reputation they've gained over the last couple of years.

I can't help but feel that if Red Bull had released this car there would be some people calling it refined and detailed ;)

Anyway, good to see Nico back on track.

1 24.0 , hards, with at least 16 laps of fuel. At the very least this car's definitely got a bit of pace.

Also interesting groove over the top of the sidepod/exhaust, presumably to aid the accuracy of exhaust flow. Do other teams have this?

Edit.

Rosberg 1m23.879 on hard tires and at least seven laps of fuel.

How much would you say a lap of fuel cost in time? 1 tenth/2 tenths?

According to James Allen on his website.

Fuel effect (cost in lap time per 10kg of fuel carried): 0.40 seconds
