Time for a happy topic this winter. Those moments when you were positive a driver was going to crash, but they used their immense skill to get away with it.
Two of my favourites.
I was going to make exactly the same kind of topic a few days ago.
Raikkonen during his pole lap at Hockenheim 2005
Kimi saves it again during a qualification lap
Alonso saves it during Brazilian GP 2012
Berger sliding at Casino Square

Keke Rosberg. Nuff' said.
In my opinion, the man with the best car control in F1 history, yes, even better than Gilles.;)
Mansell at San Marino, 1990, as Berger aggressively pushes him onto the grass.
If he had had good car control in those moments, he wouldn't have spun in the first place, those videos are a display of luck not to hit anything more than anything else.

Didn't Hamilton have an incredible save at some wet-weather qualifying this season? Was it Hockenheim? I vaguely remember something like that.

Yikes, now that was a save and a half.
Personally some of the one's like Keke's where he spins then ends up facing the right way i don't class as a "save", not in the true sense, he's already lost it and it's much more luck then judgement that he got away with it, a save is where you actually stop yourself from going around/off IMO.

Vettel had an incredible power slide through Ascari in 2011 as well. Sadly I can't find the clip for either but they were both fantastic. Monza is great to watch for this reason with the low downforce setups.

I'd say he goes to grass all by himself, but a great save nevertheless.

This is one of the best I've ever seen: Mark Higgins on the Manx rally. The Sullivan and Randy Mamola ones were amazing.
On a similar note, Ari Vatanen at the same rally in 1983.

There was a video from that one, but it was taken down. Have the race in a DVD and it´s awesome. Looks he practiced it during qualifying
Another good one from him in Oz 2006 as he passed Button locking up, it looked he would go straight to the gravel but somehow kept it on the black stuff.
This year the best one has to be Alonso in Brazil turn 3.

That'll be really hard and very unlikely. Is that from the race itself? I'll post it here if I can find it. The only one I could find was the 95 video where he spun during the warm-up lap.You should find one at the same corner by Coulthard in '97.

G Villeneuve in the wet at Montreal 1981, making the podium after driving with a broken front wing
On a similar topic check out his powerslide exiting Rivazza at Imola in 81 at around 3:33.
