it is only test, if the rumour is true, but... I know what you mean. If you put F1-mercedes-links theories aside, which frankly I don't believe in, this is quite boring series to join. But hey, WTCC would be even worse.

He can be in both, in DTM and rally. He only need to participate in 10 races during ETC campaign

Maybe it's my only imagination but my I can expect his family to be trying to convince him to stay out of the rallying. They probably were having discussions about 'next big one' and the cirmustances of the du Var crash may have raised the family emotions...

My impression is quite different. Kubica is a perfectionist. if he chooses circuit racing it is because he believes it is still possible to win F1 WDC. if he has no hopes for it he wouldn't like to be in some lower category and would elect to carry out multi year campaign to win the WRC. So i actually hope it is DTM.

No matter if DTM, WTCC, ERC or WRC. Any kind of regular driving in any category will be a great news and Kubica's success.
And if he still belives or knows that F1 is possible in any percent, then he should try himself in racing environment IMO. But any his decision should be respected and should please the fans.

It is great news, if his choice will be DTM.
As Formula 1 fan I prefer racing than rallying.

Id prefer DTM over Rally too.
First of all its safer. While i believe that with experience Robert would be competetive in rallys, im allways worried everytime he drives rally car.
Plus i like watching races live on TV more than following live timings xD

I just realised, that we shoouldn't forget what Robert said at the begining of his competitive comeback. He said 70% racing, 30% rallying is the target - all on the highest possible level. And while I'm not a fan of DTM choice (and still we have to remember this is only a test), it may be in fact his initial plan being put into life. He could do some rallies in ERC/WRC on free weekends. So there is some news to wait for.

DTM 2012 was pleasure to watch. Both for BMW return and for the fact that chassis exterior panels were based on road versions of Coupes models rather then Sedans. I know it is just a skin, but 2012 looked much better than 4 door saloons :-)

For both reasons above I was following many races. Shame that in so many cases their calendar was clashing with MotoGP, so I had to watch one thing on TV and another on laptop hehe

But this is just a test anyway...

Sokolimokiem.tv on the subject: http://sokolimokiem.tv/?p=5608
Put it through translator if needed.

From what he writes non of the options were decided yet and everything is possible. Reading between the lines: full DTM drive with some rallies is more possible in the future. If rallies then Citroen is better option then M-Sport which was somehow "announced" already by British journalists.

Hmmm... so M-Sport is least likely? Interesting, Autosport are typically pretty good with their scoops, it'll be interesting to see if this they actually did get it wrong.

Whatever Robert ends up doing I really don't mind, as long as I can watch something (whether it be a timing board or an actual race) and cheer ;)

I want to see him in rallying instead of DTM :(

Maybe we will see him doing both. I sure hope so.

Also, why not test a racing car?;)

Another theory that doing rallying will mean that there's no hope for F1 return. Where do these theories come from?

We want Kubica to be back in F1 car, once he is recovered as he is one fine driver n in top 8 drives of current F1 generation.

Kubica and Loeb would be an absolutely killer team, to be fair - two of the very best drivers in the world I'd say. Citroen would struggle to get a better team both realistically and idealistically.

I'm quite looking forward to the new WTCC, the cars should be a big step up technically & aesthetically. Having both Kubica & Loeb there would be great news!

The Chevy-Trophy has been quite boring. However, the potential are there. When there was 3-5 manufacturers in there, and there was more than one team that had good equipment, it was very good.

I agree with you that rallying doesn't end his F1 return hopes. But the idle talk I made earlier was just wondering if a place at Mercedes DTM would enhance his chances of an F1 return. Also, who wouldn't want to see Hamilton and Kubica at Mercedes in 2014? Especially if the car is a beast then :p .

Unless I see a real quote I refuse to believe he said that after recent revelations;) But if so, DTM may make more sense indeed.

Yeah, I would. And I agree that it would help. But on other hand I think that if Robert is fit enough, he will get tests and if the tests go good he will get opportunities for making a return. I think even Robert said that if he is fit enough, there should not be a problem :)

about rallying - I don't think it makes F1 comeback impossible, or anything. But I have general impression, that Robert wants to do things properly. And going into rallying would be serious, for at least 2 years, and I simply think that taking rallying serious suggests F1 is no longer an option, no matter what he says.

According to Turun Sanomat, Toto Wolff arranged DTM test for Kubica (Wolff is part owner of HWA AMG Mercedes) and Toto has been a friend/closely keep eye on Kubica ever since his accident.according to TS, Wolff wants Kubica back to F1 and at least arrange a test for him.At th beginning of january, Toto asked Robert to spent holiday with him,his wife Susie, Walter Röhrl and Alex Wurz...there Wolff represented his earlier offer to Robert that he would do a DTM test.

As much as I would like this to be true, I have many doubts first of which being that of Robert being able to get F1 license. Surely he needs to have one even for driving on Fridays, right?

If Toto has moved to Mercedes, does that make it more likely that he'll be running a friday practice with them instead? If there's any truth in it?

Not for a split second can i see Nico or Lewis stepping aside for an FP session, not unless its the end of the season and all the titles have been settled. I think DTM tests and maybe a DTM drive in 2014 if Robert still can't drive single seaters seems a more realistic option.

Yep...i think the same.
If Robert will drive in DTM or other racing series this, it will mean he didnt give give up on F1.
Otherwise he will focus on long term rally carrer.
Anyway, Czachorski 9his coordinator said that we should know his decision by the end of this month.
