Yes, the production quality was a bit poor, unusual for a bbc release. However, her interviewing was good IMO.

I think he was just bored of the unoriginal questions and having to answer the same thing over and over again...

Sky's interview was better IMO :)

Before i forget, on SSF1 during the tidbits (officially scheduled as "Your Home Of Formula One") they've been showing highlights from the Autosport Awards and that 9 minute edit/highlights clip from the FIA Gala, safe to say i'm keeping the latter on my sky box as long as possible, looks great in full HD and surround sound.

Looks like a PPV option will be available at £9.99 for the day

http://www.guardian....r-league-online

BSkyB will for the first time allow customers to watch its sports channels on a pay-as-you go basis for £9.99 a day, the first time it has ever allowed access to prime content such as Premier League football without a Sky TV subscription.

BSkyB is to offer sports fans the option of watching unlimited sports content from all six of its sports channels on its new internet TV service, Now TV, for a 24-hour period for £9.99.

The new sports offering will launch in the spring and aims to attract fans looking to watch a one-off event, such as a Formula One grand prix, England cricket match or Masters golf.

Will need to do the maths but I suspect that will work out cheaper than buying the monthly ticket a hand full of times during the season.

That's a rubbish deal frankly. Ten pound is rather steep for just one days access, cut it in half and it would start to look more reasonable. It also seems to be marketed at the wrong people. F1, cricket and golf all span multiple days, and while you could be happy just watching the race, for the othe events you'll have to shell out a considerable amount for the full event. A much better deal would be to buy access for an individual event for it's duration rather than a day pass.

Hmm reading the actual tweet by Sky, it seems like it could equally be about F1.

Interesting.

I'm still curious why (from what i've seen) DC hasn't been confirmed at the beeb, i know his deal ran out at the end of last year, could he be about to jump ship?

If its to do with putting the F1 channel exclusively on the sports package i'll be both surprised and disappointed, since they denied they were intending this on their own forums but like i said, i'll be very surprised if thats what it is.

Bring on the doom mongers...

EDIT: Just read the original Sky tweet and i doubt they would be make such a song and dance about it if they were moving packages.

It's probably that the F1 Channel is moving to 406 from 408.

Unlikely, its already moved channels.

I know people promoting things can get carried away but to describe a channel number change as "massive" really is playing it fast and loose with the term massive.

When asked at the Autosport Show, Ben Edwards said he would be commentating with DC again this Season: (About 10 Minutes in)

Also, Suzi Perry put on Twitter the other day: ''Lovely lunch with my co-host @therealdcf1 ... The countdown is on ... Eek''

To be fair Sky Insider said that too https://twitter.com/SkyF1Insider

The way they are getting all excited seems to indicate it'll be good news. Hopefully.

Edit: Sorry I was beaten on that one.

Maybe a wild stab here, but still no other motorsport confirmed on Sky AT ALL. Most unusual at this stage, which may point towards the original Sky Speed idea coming to fruition.

New channel name and several series confirmed at the same time? Indycar? WRC? On the same channel as F1? Dare we dream?

Hopefully not, to get the Sky 3D channel ATM you have to gave Sky World HD. So on top of the basic £20 package, £20 sports package, and £10 HD package, I'd have to shell out another £20 for movies and £20 for entertainment extra, both stuff I'd never use! So all in all £40 for one extra channel - madness!

Yeah I know, I have a 3D TV so I'd love to see that! But I also know Sky would want the £40 for it - they always go too far with new technology in terms of pricing.

Personally I think the 3D channel is a waste of bandwidth, but at least they are the ones innovating as far as TV goes at the moment. They brought about the HD revolution and they were the first to bring 3D transmissions. Once upon a time it was the BBC that innovated, now they just follow.

I do agree about 3D, its a gimmick that has been around (on and off) for the last 80 or so years!! (Really its has, read Mark Kermode's books) It has only returned recently because the movie production companies have literally forced it upon film goers largely so its harder to pirate a movie, this has leaked its way into television, it adds nothing to the experience, if anything it makes the overall quality of the footage worse.

Why? All films were available in non-3D format.

To me 3-D would appear to be totally wasted for F1 as it only really kicks in for rapid changes of focal length. Most F1 camera shots are pretty long range and hence minimal changes.
I guess it might come into its own for kerb-cam shots  , but would you really want that to be the predominant view of the racing we get on TV just to justify the 3-D :rotfl:

On the basis all of the host broadcasters would require 3D kit to film and broadcast each session (for a full season deal that is), 3D would be an F1 announcement, not a Sky announcement.

Unless this announcement was very very mistakenly labelled as 'MASSIVE' the only thing I can think of is being more race series, Indycar or otherwise, added to the channel.

Depends what Sky believe is massive though. A new series of Legends? Massive to Sky maybe, merely nice to me.

I find it funny Keith Huewen has been going to great pains to remind everyone on Twitter he has no news at all re Indycar and more. Is it realistic to expect a guy who has been on Sky forever to have no idea if he has any employment prospects this year at all?

The host broadcaster doesn't do the filming, it's done by FOM, bar one or 2 races. And if it were 3D it would not be replacing the normal broadcast.
