To me it looks like the view outwards as you sit in the driver seat?

I doubt we'll even see it all on the 31st, they will more than likely hide the exhaust design again.

"Next years mclaren has a stepped nose. Don't fear though, like Williams it will take advantage of nose modesty panel. Less ugly cars in 13!"

Saw that on twitter a few moments ago.

Nobody knows for sure (or more accurately, everyone that does know, won't be speaking to the media in the next 2 weeks). That is just a guess.

That is the front wing assembly its just the fact they are now using their patented see-though bodywork not just on the engine cover now.

@ScarbsF1: I think Mac will change to a higher chassis, Some teams will follow Marussia with a low nose with a bulged underside

There are very few rumours running around this year, at least regarding the cars - it's all focused on the staff ;)

Hard to believe we're only 9 days away from the reveal, and there have been no 'leaks' - although the rumours we used to get were largely junk anyway.

It isn't only McLarens thread that is like this. With much focus on 2014, no teams are giving much details at all on their 2013 cars.

It is surprisingly quiet all round, I think with possibly only the Mercedes thread with more activity than last year.

There is more going on at Merc- new driver, new investors, management upheaval. At present it is more in the news. There is also more focus on the likes of Force India and Marussia due to the fact that the yseem to be struggling for money.

For the rest, including McLaren, we're just waiting for the new car launches and testing.

I think thats a totally unfounded opinion to have. And frankly, I think its ludicrous. You really think the guys go around at Mclaren saying, "Yea, ok, not too worried about the championship, but maybe a couple race wins would be nice!"? I mean, do you honestly think that? Is it possible to build a race-winning car in F1 without having any hunger or desire or hopes for a championship? You act as if they could all just flip a switch and then suddenly dominate. F1 is difficult, though. Competition is tough.

They built a pretty damn good car in 2012. They had a bad year in terms of race-day management and losing Lewis was a big blow for the team, but its just a year and it wasn't a complete disaster. People abandoning the team for it are probably my least favorite 'type' of fan. I respect a certain sense of loyalty.

Exactly! I mean, Ferrari aren't having their nicer years recently and even though it could be better I don't see anyone saying it's a sinking ship. McLaren had a very bad operational year, maybe this winter they did all they could to get their act together on all fronts, so let's wait and see what they have to offer this year, but I'm sure the car will be a race winner, and as a fan I'm hoping it brings great success in championships as well.

Actually, the main rumor about the jet fighter sidepods, was correct.

Yeah, the original design was rectangular, reminiscent of the intakes on a F-15.

I think it all got lost in translation. I remember a rumor/leak that the sidepods would be like a "Jump Jet" - and every assumed it was to do with the intakes. When in fact, it was a reference to the "nozzle" exhaust. Well..... that's my take anyway........

I think the rumours were based perhaps on early idea's Mclaren may have had on how to evolve the then current sidepod intake. It wasn't a huge leap of faith to immediately consider drawing them in nearer the cars tub.

With regard to McLaren - quite happy to be a McLaren fan without really being that interested in either driver at the moment. McLaren have spent time at various times in its past carrying an extra plank in one of the cars, just a shame at the moment that they don't have something special in the other one.

Time however moves on, and I am sure they will sort it. Anyway - more interested in seeing the car :) Are they still going to sport the chrome - also, what of the downwash wing atop the sidepod - what thoughts are there on further intergration of this?

Looks to be on a stand, just from comparing front and rear tyres, but it's not exactly low anyhow.

Very high nose on that if it is the 28.

Looks like it has podwings and a coanda too.

Of the two lumps around the sidepod area, isn't the left hand side one simply the wing mirror?

Well, another reason to believe it is an old car is that there is no snow on the landscape around the building :)

I don't think that it is the outline of the exhaust ramp, it's just the way the veil falls on it.
my first thought was the moose as well, the veil seems to dip at the U-pod area - and the sidepods of the 26 were wider and longer than normal sidepods, so pretty close to the exhaust bulge design: http://hunnylander.f...e-half-size.jpg

I think it's a Monza spec MP4-25, only 25 have nose that high.

Nose looks too high - and there is no step (even with the cover there would be a dip in the profile surely?) - anyway - if it is the 28 - that is quite a change from last year.

The front wheels appear to be on some kind of stand, look at the nose in relation to the wheels and the actual front wing, don't think it will be particularly different to last season. Maybe the nosecone is a little narrower but thats hard to judge, it might just be the camera angle.

Personally I can never believe that they bother to have the car put together for these photos, just to stick it under a sheet.

Good targets for 2013 there. Hopefully, no more strategic and pit-stop cock-ups please. Reliability should be improved as well; we threw away whole a lot of points cuz of these.

Probably not the car. I doubt they'd have it all put together just so they could leave it under a sheet for a week. They have plenty of cars they can throw a sheet over for a 'MP4-28' promo shot.
