To everyone saying that the teaser photo has a ridiculously high front nose, the car is almost certainly on some kind of stand:

Here it is 'shopped to normal height:

Wait, you mean the '28 isn't going to have oval wheels instead of boring round ones? So much for lateral thinking.

I think you`re not correct at all 'cause with your assumption the front wing will be scraping the ground not talking about the floor. I think the original picture is much more realistic but with it`s very strong perspective it just make a confusion. If we get this confusing perspective into account we may suggest that the nose tip is somwhere between that of MP4-25 and 27 on height... and I think it`s not an actual car at all.

If those floor tiles are 800x800mm (i presume they are) The nose is approx 500 - 600mm from the ground. I dont know if thats counted as a low or high nose though tbh.

To me too.

I think the side pods look quite tall/narrow on the inside and are flanked by the sidepod aero turning vane leaving an open channel to the rear wing or for aero manipulation?

Quite exciting I have to say!

Looking at it next to the wheel, yes, very low - MP4/13 sort of low?

Look at the dip between the side-pod and wing mirror, I'd guess the car underneath is the -26.

Anyone think we might see the McLaren 50 logo on the car somewhere?

Would be nice in orange too.

I think a single orange 50 on the rearwing endplate would looks pretty cool, just subtle though.

We have had test cars in Orange before so not so far fetched.

It would be nice. The rear wing has been vacant for some time now, with McLaren recently adding their own "Tooned", so why not?

Thinking again, the dip could be caused by the side pod deflector aero thingy.

If that indeed is the car underneath, I think McLaren have swapped to the Sauber/Red Bull solution of coanda exhaust, ramps downwards very sharply. Very excited cannot wait! McLaren always have a stunning car, except for say the 24 and 26.

Obviously not! That shot of the car was released on 22nd Feb, fully 9 days ahead of launch. I seriously doubt that McLaren worked to a 9 day margin, cutting off development time just so they could put a chassis under a rug!
Its a bit of marketing, clearly doing its job.

I assume McLaren engineers are reading this thread and having a right old giggle!
Its cool though, that F1 fans will try and deduce anything, from anything. Love this sport for its intrigue.

I think its the 28, since im absolutely sure mclaren will take time of, in the most busy period of the year, to place their new car, which is probably not even fully assembled yet just to please the media and its fans ....., [/sarcasm]

We never under-estimate what you guys might be capable of. Transparent carbon-fibre seemed more than logical at the time.

Andy, could you give us an insight into the mood of those at the MTC at this time? Excited, nervous?

To everyone, a question regarding the team's approach to launching cars early in relation to the rest of the field; is that simply for the increased exposure or do they simply like showing their hand early?

Few reasons, first of all that nose is too high. It has the exact same shape as the -25. Also, they haven't launched the car with a t-cam since 2009. Lastly, it makes no sense to have the car completed so much earlier than the release date/testing season.

Yeah. So funny that you can't confirm or deny whether it is, has been or will be worked on or tested in the underground facility at MTC.

I might start a thread called "MP4 engineering ideas" and if one of those ever makes it onto the McLaren, the poster originating it gets a sticker on the car and 4 VIP tickets to the Monaco GP. Run that one past Martin and come back to us...!

Can't wait to see the nose. On the preview picture Mclaren has posted there seems to be no stepped nose, however the team did try to lower the nose as much as possible last year as the stepped nose didnt fit with their chasis.

Please keep this thread for discussion of the car and keep all the fanfare and discussion of the launch in the launch thread.
