Its a pushrod design.

@ScarbsF1: #McLarenMP4-28 : just launched with a high chassis & modesty panel. Pull rod front suspension & similar sidepods. Same old livery!

I think the front end will look drastically different come Tuesday...team kit is now button up shirts? Yuk!

Sidepods are interestimg, id be interested to know why they stuck with their original exhaust solution from last year when the red bull solution is more affective? Maybe that will change come Tuesday, i think it definitely will or why else would they use a big black panel at the back when all last year silver paint worked fine? Need hires pics to really see details!

Pretty sure it is pull rod front suspension.

so far it does look very similar to the 27.. I am thinking this isn't the final design as we saw what they did last year from the launch to the test. I think we will see a different layout with the exhaust and obviously they will bring a new FW. It seems they are playing their cards very close to their chest.

No one will go radical this year, for that you'll have to wait until 2014...

In all honestly Red Bull is slated for the last few years for just having an evolution on their 2010 cars etc. Revolutionary concepts have not been all so successful over the last few years at McLaren , they have won but been fragile. The last championship winning McLaren was an evolution on the MP4-22 and that wasn't so bad.

No McLaren 50 logo :|

Nice presentation overall, with the old cars and all.

I very much doubt that car has all the ready to race aero and exhaust pieces on it. I'd expect iterations of them to return for testing

Well I had like a 0.0001% hope of it being pink, brown, bright yellow, 6-wheeled or a 2-seater, but am still somewhat disappointed. It's the same old damn car of the last 3 years.

Nice to see the tag logo on the car too, guess the numbers will be higher up on the rear wing.

They weren't there on last year's launch either. This is just a very basic version of the 28, it will likely look very different come the first race.

Yes it looks similar to the 27, the 26 had U shaped sidepods which was quite different, the 25 had a bloomin great shark fin.

Id love a shot of the suspension arm with the drive shaft incorporated into the design. Infact, id love the studio shots right about now!

Things that I think we will see come testing? The sidepod winglets will be alot different, they will in my opinion bring the winglets over the top surface back, try the ramp/tunnel solution exhaust, and possibly get rid of that modesty panel. Also think the rear wing flaps will change and the front wing to go to the Brazil spec 27 model.

I don't think we can see the curves of the car whilst its on that stand like that.

We won the last 2 races, so we don't need big changes on the car, it's up to the others to play catch up. :smoking:

We need reliability, consistent great pit stops and two drivers that can qualify high.

Very clever mirror solutions, almost outboard. No turning vanes bolted under the nose yet, I think we will see much more sculpted and developed iterations than we did last year. Awaiting the undernose chin too! I think this car, with race parts, is going to be beast like! Silver Beast?

Red Bull rear suspension, pull-rod at the front.

Lower COG, but as ATM Andy says a bit of a b**ch to set up.

Whitmarsh: This car is already quicker than the one that raced in Brazil last year

What else is the point of launching a new car (with almost no regulations changes)?

They won't likely appear until testing, then we will likely see all variety of bodywork attachments.

The car looks gorgeous and very undercut at the rear, very undercut. The exhaust solution present may not even be the version they race at Melbourne.

With McLaren maintaining a low bulk head, Gary Anderson would be spinning in his grave (if he were dead).

Agreed, so much looks to have been left off the launch car.

Yeah, do they really have a 'modesty panel'? I don't think so?
