Fingers crossed Maldonado's ironed out come of the crazy this year and Bottas can pull his weight, Williams need some clear forwards momentum. Car looks nice, still blown away by the gearbox

Nicely packaged and purposeful looking car. If it goes as well as it looks it'll cause a stir.

that nonexistent rear end makes the red bull look fat. Although I do get the feeling the red bull doesnt look as small only because of that cooling outlet.

why they still have 'Senna' logo in the front wing pillar??? Bruno isn't in the team anymore. or does it signify anything else???

Yes, they were the team that Ayrton Senna was with when he died, they have had that on the car ever since.

Gary A on FW35

"The new Williams appears to be a good step forward over last year's car.

"There is a lot of good detail work on it. On the front wing, they have eased back on some of the very complex detail of the vortex generators around the endplates, which last year was probably too detailed. And in general it looks like a sound downforce-producing package.

"The front wing pillars have been moved forward, so they lean back towards the front wing. That's a good idea - it gives the airflow coming off the pillars more time to settle down before it gets to the turning vanes under the chassis.

"The downforce-producing devices on the front brake ducts are very detailed and the sidepods are very well undercut.

"Their ultra-low gearbox means there is very little airflow blockage at the rear of the car. There is just a lot of very good basic engineering on it and I would expect that they have made significant progress."

Could pic of why the exhaust outlet is legal. There's a gap, so it's not a tunnel.

i see what M.coughlan did there :p

that's one extreme interpretation of rules, which is most probably going to get banned.

Does it have gearbox at all? :)
Joking aside, Williams have got a new sponsor, Experian, the company which I'm already more proud to work for.

It looks awesome. The rear end packaging is crazy! There's nothing back there!

But from a pure aesthetics standpoint, I like how the nose and the swept back front wing mimics the shape of the engine cover. It looks fast.

Ive seen tight rear .. but this thing has NO REAR ... wth ?? This rear end makes every one else look like they aren't even trying.

I guess the question of the day is ... does this result in a net gain ?

A bit of official video

at 32 second, look at the radiator.
at 54 sec look at their pushrod rear suspention and tiny tiny gear box. Directly behind the Outlet of the radiator hot air is madelike a doubel floor diffuser... what is this...????

this is going to beat the grid, I am convinced. This will perhaps threaten Red Bull. Looking forward to see if they have drivers to take this car to the top steps of the podiums multiple times....

Oh well,... they have go to start testing yet...

Williams is still racing the Sam Michael's child. Good to see that they have good conviction on the result drawn previously. It is about the time that Williams beat fake Red Bull group. Beat them Beat them fair and square. ohh... I can't wait...

That's a scale wind tunnel model, quite possibly evaluating other designs.

What a fantastic looking race car. Not beautiful aesthetically, but it just looks so properly well thought out in terms of packaging. I am looking forward to Bottas doing really well in this car :)

All this overreacting in a Williams thread is most out of place, this is a place for reserved hope.

And apparently, Bottas is the only Williams driver, judging by some comments here and elsewhere.

AMuS reporting that FIA has ruled exhaust not-a-tunnel illegal

'While it should be obvious to everyone that Caterham's cover is illegal, opinions about the Williams solution conceivably could be divided. Whiting explains that ruling it legal would be an error in reasoning: "The side walls of the duct must be vertical and must not unify converge at the top. We do not want even a hint of a tunnel. Any cover, closed or open, is in violation."

The rule body knows very well what the result of a legal ruling would be: the whole duct would be covered. A tiny slot would suffice to circumvent the rule, and it would be in total opposite of the intent of the rule. [Edit: According to Autosport earlier today, Brawn said that Merc had asked FIA about such a solution during the winter, and were told it would be illegal]. Coughlan has been informed by the FIA.'
