Preview of Grosjeans.

It's interesting... if you check the visor on that preview, you can see that it doesn't look like Bell HP3 at all.

A new Bell model will be introduced maybe?

Nice.

It is quite amusing to see a helmet thread without hoarding from Sebastian's creations. Still I think Jens Munser does great helmets. It is his 20th anniversary of doing helmets so great job to him! He has yet to preview any of his drivers' 2013 helmets on his website though.

Was thinking the same thing.

It looks almost like a Stilo. But a little different. I'm guessing it's a new Bell HP3 model.

Disappointed the Ferrari halo is back, looks OK on Fernando's, but really takes away from Massa's design.

Nothing new released today then, I'd say we will have to wait until testing to see a few more.

I still remember that pre-season 2010 thread where everyone was bemoaning the commercial bastardisation of drivers' personal helmet designs and were predicting all sorts of silver-based helmets for Button and Schumacher.

Naturally they stuck to their classic designs. :)

I actually like Kimi's.

And you have to think the red bits on the top front of both helmets implies they're really optimistic of getting a new sponsor/Honeywell. You kinda hope they will, just so they don't look silly :p

'12 Kimi helmet was much better, this one would be better if they swapped the white and black parts.
and the red lines at the forehead of the helmets scream "insert your ad here" :D

Wtf? This is like, the least logo'd helmet of any team he's driven for.

Don't like the look of Romain's helmet from the side. There's no memorable shape apart from the horse shoeish thing at the top.

Kimi's helmet looks really good.

The Arai helmet shape is also aesthetically better than that Bell if you ask me.

I like Räikkönen's.
I found last year's beautiful in its simplicity and very easy to spot in the races, which made it very useful in order to know which Lotus was each Lotus. But I think this year's combines better with the racing suit having the black part in the front, especially for a driver like him, given that likes to walk around with the helmet on.

Kimi should still be really easy to spot, being the only guy with a prominent amount of black.

Both are nice, especially the colours. However, I still find them unnecessarily busy for my taste. I'd like to see some more simplistic designs or even solid colours, deconstruct the helmet design. Lol

I'm 100% with you, but Kimi's design is actually about as distinguishable as they come these days.

Have always loved Kimi's black/white/red dominant helmets, this one is no different. And I like that Romain's is bright, much like his permanent blinding smile. :D

Yeah, it look's like #7, but on the other side of the helmet it's flipped, what is kind of funny actually. :drunk:

EDIT I just saw Gro's new helmet in helmet thread, they are still somewhat similar taste but different enough.

We might have to wait to the real TV pictures but, since Grosjean's has some white at the front, it might be just the opposite from last year: if you can spot the helmet easily in the car (in contrast with the chassis) -> Grosjean, if you can't spot the helmet easily in the car -> Räikkönen

On Kimi's helmet

Although the driver is very much involved in the design process, when it comes to the Iceman things are typically mysterious when it comes to his head gear:

"Usually Kimi gives a hint of what should be on his helmet for the season ahead. I’ll then make five different versions of the idea with the computer and he picks what he likes the most" Uffe explains.

"Last year he wanted to have his race number up there. He had the number previously during the McLaren times, but then it was at the back of the helmet. Now the number will change from 9 to 7, but there isn’t that much of change for 2013; just some new partners."

Kimi has always been something of a trend setter with his unique style, and his ’skid lids’ are no exception:

"Sometimes it has been that whatever Kimi brings to his helmet design, it doesn’t take that much time to see the same idea in some way on somebody else’s helmet, too" says Uffe.

"I would not say he is very artistic, but he knows what he wants and he is very fashion-conscious. He is certainly of his generation"

Kimi saves all his helmets and remembers the season just by having a look at the helmet design.

At the 2012 Monaco Grand Prix, he showed his respect to a driver of the 1970s when he incorporated the James Hunt design and name on his helmet.

“The idea was there for many years, but with McLaren and Ferrari there was no opportunity to use it. Last year it was perfect and the feedback was great too” Uffe praises.

Let’s wait and see what Monaco brings along this time...

yea, white for Gro and black for Kimi. That prominent red/orange parts that're common to both might make it bit confusing to distinguish but maybe it'll be ok.

ps cheers mod :p

I like both but i think i prefer Romain's overall, prefer seeing contrasting colours in relation to the chassis, rather than black on black which can look a bit wishy washy IMO i prefer something that stands out a bit.

I find this strange. Hunt was a WDC for Mclaren, so why would they be sour on Kimi showing his admiration to the guy?

I like kimis and grosjean design, however grosjeans is more disturbing. Kimi has always the best lid on the grid imho.

Probably due to the Halos McLaren/Ferrari drivers are forced to have.

James hunts lid with a massive white halo would look terrible.

I preferred Kimi's last years helmet over this year.
Regarding Grosjean's - isn't there some rule preventing sponsors messages on top of the helmet. He seems to have Total written right there. I think he might have to change that.

It was there last season too. Im not a fan of Kimi's new helmet. I wasn't a fan of his 2007 helmet either, I was expecting something really beautiful but the red has killed it for me.

I like seeing another yellow helmet in a McLaren. It will make the loss of Lewis a bit easier to swallow, at least visually.
