So many helmets with a lot of yellow, aren't there?

Well the trend in yellow could have come about because the last champion to die leading an F1 race was Senna who had a yellow helmet.

Or because Nuvolari, the '32 champion always used to wear blue trousers and a yellow jersey when racing.

But somehow I don't think it's the latter.

I think the increase in yellow could be to do purely with visibility, particularly for the front runners.

I think Senna, Schumacher and Hamilton have said their colours were chosen to help fellow drivers (particularly back markers) identify them when lapping.

It's counter intuitive though when most of the grid have yellow lids!

Sidebar: love Giedo Van Der Garde's helmet - hope Caterham make a 1/2 scale replica of that bad boy.

It's Senna. The amount of yellow helmets since 1997/8 is ridiculous.

Probably just testing but I think we can all agree Arai is better, although the new HP7 is much nicer then the previous model.

Didn't Kubica also start out with an Arai and then change to a Bell?

Can't find it on google? Is it not a HP3? That seems to be the top line one on their site.

Just ridiculous, Kimi raced his whole career with Arai, only switched for Schubert because of Ferrari contract.. Even when he raced in NASCAR, where 90% of drivers wear Bell and Simpson, he still wore the Stilo (because of his contract with the brand in the WRC).. I hope this to be only a test, like he did at Mclaren in 2004, testing a Schubert and coming back to Arai.. Kimi´s design´s are beautiful in Arai shapes, not in this ridiculous and huge Bell..

Here some pics of the 2004 Schubert test version for Kimi:

Yay 2 new helmets for Sebastian already! :rotfl: Love both designs; the blue seems specially created to add the new Infiniti purple (at the bottom).

Eh, those are test helmets from a while back. If they're even correct.

Kimi may have made the switch because the aero design of the Bell works better with the Renault than Arai. I think that is why Button (long time Bell user) went to Arai when he moved to McLaren. I think the Ferrari is build around the Schuberth design as well.

Bingo! That's exactly one of the reasons why Adrian Newey had one of his team's driver switch back to an Arai helmet for aerodynamic reasons. Can't remember who the driver was though. I'm sure someone will remember...

It's funny how many NASCAR drivers have adopted the same Stilo helmet Kimi was wearing when he ran a few races in America. Kyle Busch was the first one to use one.

I heard a lot of people here complaining about the helmets of Rosberg and Hamilton, that you can't see the differents... But what about the Toro Rosso guys?

No one is complaining because Toro Rosso is irrelevant.

Yeah, I remember this. He switched because Schuberth was the only brand that was equipped with heated visor that time.
