I really hope we get to see the BTCC here in the US at some point this year. Not just for the racing, but also because I want to hear them say "Jack Goff" on TV without snickering.

Be fascinating to see in Tordoff can get anywhere near Plato and if the Focuses (Focii ?) can get in the mix. Really looking forward to this now :)

Brands Hatch on the 31st March :)

(It's actually on the front page, but I do agree with you that their website has become even more awful than it was in the past.)

If you mean times - the races start at 11:47, 14:17 & 17:05

The television broadcast starts at 1045 and the first two support races (Clios & FFord) will probably be shown during the lunch break after the first BTCC race. Interesting to see that there is a FFord race after the third BTCC race - always good for the fans present as it gives something to watch while all the casual fans scramble to get out of the site.

Oh darn it, got to visit my mum over Easter! Can I clear 24% of my Sky+ box before Thursday so I can record a day's racing? Stand by for a new world record in consecutive CSI episode watching

Looking forward to recording this Sunday's races and watching them later on Sunday. I always enjoy the races even if the ballast and control tyres and tight regs conspire to keep thing stight and ensure no one car/driver dominates.

It's appaling lol. All race series seem to lack basic information that you think would be an obvious necessity :o It must be a prerequisite to a new race series website. Step 1: Lack of Information [x]

I did mean times, indeed. Thank you! I'm over in -4GMT so hmm. Hopefully someone somewhere will upload the races to something.... if only I had an invite to -thanks risil :p- Maybe I can grab it off ITV if I don't need a cable subscription to log in.

The Autosport Guide is up so it must be close. Between the weight penalties and the new per-driver/team boost rules, it's hard to see it not being a very open field.

My one reservation is the soft tyre rule; I think it will be a gimmick too far. I can generally live with the equalisation, you chalk it up as a psuedo-one-make-series where you watch for fun racing over technical interest. However, seeing a single driver carve his way the field easily through a accidental-unequalisation was, and is, cheap, and I think the soft tyre might only make this a more common sight in 2013.

My rundown of the field would be:

* Matt Neal and Gordon Sheddon in the Hondas must start favourites again. Andrew Jordan in the privateer Honda will also be in the mix, with the new boost rules closing any deficit to the works team . Jeff Smith in the fourth Honda will make up the numbers.
* The departure of Andy Neate should see a genuine two car attack from the MG, but only time will tell if rookie Sam Tordoff can match stalwart Jason Plato.
* There's three brand new BMWs in the field, but WSR are last to the NGTC party which might hurt them initially; Colin Turkington and Rob Collard are good enough to be at the front. Third car driven by Nick Foster
* There will be three NGTC Ford Focuses. Mat Jackson took the car's first win at the tail end of last year. Árón Smith had an underwhelming 2012, while Michael Caine is a touring car unknown but is the British GT 2012 Champion.
* Dave Newsham and Frank Wrathall in their Toyota Avensises will be hoping to turn the flashes of speed they showed in 2012 in to a season long challenge. Two more Toyotas will be driven by Ollie Jackson and Adam Morgan.
* Rob Austin and Will Bratt will return in the Audi A4s. Rob showed a few flashes of speed in 2012 but without many results to show for it. They'll need to pick up their game in 2013.
* Dan Welch and David Nye in their Protons are two more who are likely to be anchored in the midefield.
* There should also be two Vauxhall Insignias (Jack Goff and James Cole) and a Volkswagen Passat (Tom Onslow-Cole) all entered by Team Hard. However they have yet to turn a wheel in anger, so who knows how they'll do. A second Passet is planned to show up later in the year, shared by Howard Fuller and Robb Holland.
* Andy Neate has vacated the works MG to run his own NGTC Chevrolet Cruze. The car won't be finished in time for round one, but given he was off the pace in a works car, it's hard to see him bothering the sharp end when he does appear.

There will be a further five drivers in the slower S2000 class.

edit Don't expect the BMWs to be on the pace at round 1.

So the season has started. Plato takes first honours in FP1, with a time only a couple of tenths off '12 pole despite a track temperature of 3.5 degrees.

After the talk of the full grid (32), 27 cars got themselves on the timing screen with 25 setting some sort of time.

Fun race. We're lucky Plato survived; Smug Plato is preferable to Moaning Plato!

The Beemer needs time to sort out the niggles but the field is lookingg pretty close The Honda might be a touch ahead but that'll be lost in the noise of weight penalties and boost adjustment. Ford look like the ones who aren't were they should be given they sacrificed Jackson's 2012 season for development.

Shedden has been excluded from Race 2 for failing the ride-height test; Wrathall has been fined £1,000 and had three points put on his licence for the incidents in which he was involved.
