Aye that was a big one, it was good he was at the rear of the grid else that could of been even nastier.

Shedden is certainly making his way very well through the grid, he's currently fifth and could possibly pass Plato too.

Great drive from Shedden in the last race, extra lap and he might have sneaked passed.

Indeed was very impressive from the back and with ballast and all. I wasn't sure he could of caught Neal when I wrote earlier, but aye Shedden was tantalisingly close to winning the last race. Shame I missed race one though, sounded like it was a good'un.

Wow that could have been so much worse. Lucky it was an armco not a concrete wall, he was.

Plato seemed to get the restarts and tires down pat, good start for the season for me :D

Was surprised how well the softs worked at the end, probably because it warmed up quite a bit, eh?

Complete rebuild screws his season up. What a shame. He has one of the smallest budgets on the grid...

Looks like the news from Rob Austin Racing is not as bad as first seems, hopeful to be back for Donington.

That'd be great. Thought he'd totalled that one, but I guess you can't keep a bunch of good mechanics down

It is amazing that there really is only cosmetic damage after a crash that size.

Well judging from Tordoff's first event, he may actually have some in-team competition for once too. Though, to be fair, he hadn't any problem moving over for his team mate when on the "wrong" tyres

Andy Neate will not be driving at Donington as there have been further delays in building his Chevrolet Cruze. He hopes to join the field at Oulton Park in June.

Any other new cars likely to be out then?

Wonder how Rob Austin's repairs are going? I should really get into Twitter...

Austin recently tweeted this photo of the repaired Audi. He's also had T-shirts made with the legend "I helped fix Sherman" (the car's nickname), sales of which will help cover the cost of the repairs.

A deal is still being negotiated for Howard Fuller and Robb Holland to share a fourth Team HARD. car.

Hope those T-shirts are for sale at Donington. Managed to get Saturday off so will be there on both days. A 29 (?) car grid going down the Craner Curves should be an exciting prospect!

It's BTCC. The chances that they will all get round Redgate on lap one is about zero.

Big fire in the Ginetta supercup. Andrew Watson blowing up old school F1 style with a jet of flame. Driver out fine, not as bad as Oulton but might not be racing tomorrow.

Apparently so, but not until later in the year. Perhaps he's having second thoughts after seeing Motorbase's performance so far...

Nice to see Turkington on the top step :)

Shame Tordoff couldn't hold on on the last lap. But he looks promising. It's been a while since Plato has had a good teammate.

Agree with both, BTCC always has room for different winners rather than the top few. :)

Only seen the last races today, thanks to it again clashing with F1 this year ( )

Nice defensive driving from Shedden in race two there. Plato had to go through his whole playbook trying to get past. Well apart from the old "nudge him into the gravel trap at the last corner" thing ;)

Nice to see so many manufacturers but the cars are fundamentally boring. I mean that Passat just looks silly.

Great, the more the merrier. What I also think is good is how there are only two manufacturer supported teams, but a big variety of cars. That should help prevent a spending war, which is the last thing anyone wants.

Especially given that many of these different cars are competitive too. It's not like just the works teams out front with a bunch of random privateers behind like in WTCC. BTCC has very good rule set right now.

So KIA is controlled by Ford. So just a rebadged car? Or at the very least mechanicals.

Where do you get that from?

Hyundai own a third of Kia. Ford had an interest back in the 1980s and 90s but were outbid by Hyundai when Kia went into administration in 1997.

Well, there is a lot of performance balancing. The Hondas kept having trouble last year because they were being made to run such low levels of turbo boost.

Thruxton this weekend. Qualifying has proved to be a Honda Civic benefit, with Jordan again ahead of the Dynamics drivers, but anything can happen in the race, especially with the circuit's high tyre wear.

Oh boy, Thruxton lives up to its tyre-eating reputation yet again. Tough luck for Jordan (senior & junior). Good run by Tom. Great defence from Plato with maximum ballast though.

Must go to the circuit some time. Wish it wasn't so far away. The cars look so on the edge round the fast stuff. Wonder what view you get of somewhere like Church though?

Thruxton is a nice track to visit. Sadly I don't think there are any spectator areas round the back section :|
