I thought race 3 was possibly one of best motor races I've seen. It was also relatively clean by BTCC standards.

Hello BTW. Just joined.

...and Michael Caine will finally début Motorbase's third NGTC car. That's 29 entries for the event.

Yes, the Met Office has a consistent precipitation chance of 80% from 10:00 am onwards. Although the fact that it sums up the day's overall weather with a dark cloud, two drops of rain and the sun peeking out from behind gives me hope that the forecast is unreliable. It will be a shame if it does rain as I live relatively nearby and it's been warm and sunny for the last couple of weeks.

Have we had a wet meeting yet? I can't seem to recall one, at least not in the last two meetings so a bit of rain would be welcome.

Wasn't the MG crap in the wet last year - or is my memory playing tricks?

Yes, that was one of the car's weak points, although it remains to be seen how much progress has been made on that front in its second year.

it'd be great to see it start raining about 4 laps into a race. It's not often we get to see pit stops for all the cars during a race

Andy Neate's entry has been put back once again.

Rain is still expected on Sunday, although the forecast probability and duration have both decreased since yesterday. Saturday should be mostly dry with only a threat of rain.

Amazing to see neate having money issues. I assumed he had a bottomless pit of gold considering the drives he was buying.

I hope it doesn't rain, as I shall be sat on the hill for my first BTCC race since 1999 :D

Well looks like Turkington hasn't lost any speed in his absence! But I guess we knew that already...

Decided to pass on this. Going to have enough sitting in long queues of traffic next weekend at Silverstone!

Sitting watching btcc and LM24 on 2 screens, nothing better.

Very glad I bailed before that last shower, I was in a hoodie and jeans!

Forgot how loud those things are. Watching Race 2 from the hill out the back was awesome.

I felt a bit silly taking waterproofs and sun cream to the same event, but I was vindicated by the ever-changing weather! Another great event with lots of close racing and hard driving despite the frequent rain showers. Nice to see that Morgan was unhurt in what was really a big accident at Clervaux as well.

Turkington was undoubtedly the driver of the weekend, but there were also good showings from Nick Foster and Michael Caine (who was running reduced boost as a penalty for joining the championship late), and David Nye and Jake Hill in the S2000 class. I'm hoping that the BMW's form will continue into the coming races and allow Turkington to challenge for the title. On the other end of the spectrum, Triple Eight's tyre choice for race two was unfathomable, and Mat Jackson also had a poor weekend.

Of the support races, the Clios were the most fun, with lots of action through the field and Stefan Hodgetts getting slightly over-excited after winning.

The traffic in-and-out of the circuit was heavy but well-managed, and it appeared that efforts had been made to improve drainage and surface conditions in the grass parking areas. No problem with the oft-maligned lack of facilities, either. It appeared to me that there were slightly more spectators than last year, although a few (like ApexMouse :p ) did leave early when the heavier rain arrived in the later afternoon.

Ever seen Hodgetts not get overexcited after winning? ;)

Wonder what his comments about Team Hard referred to? Seemed to be rather pointed at something in their setup...

His reasons do sound a little strange... like he's not learning anything there, or maybe he means the car is too slow for his liking. But, really, who else is better that's got a space available?

Yeah. I got thoroughly soaked at the end. Next day I looked sunburnt. I can't remember any proper sunshine though. Good day all in all.

Wow! This could effectively end his career if he's found guilty!

(I'm not trying to suggest Wrathall's career is more important than someone's life.)

EDIT: Just noticed that the incident happened last year - I'm surprised that this is the first I've heard of it.

Doesn't look good, very cut and dried - surprised he is seemingly pleading innocent, can't see him avoiding jail time if the information in that report is correct (considering the source we should be wary).

What a situation that it took over a year to come to court, not good for either party really.

I'm guessing your MSA licence goes out of the window with any road licence ban.

I'm sure Alan Gow is concerned about the media coverage of this, not good for the sport.

Particularly not with DM using official BTCC photographs in the report (which of course they are perfectly legal to do), although how many of them appeared in the newspaper article I am not sure. Interestingly the initial court appearance was back in December (source) but no-one seems to have picked up on it at the time.

There is scope in the MSA licence for it to be withdrawn for 'bringing the sport into disrepute', so even if he didn't get a formal driving ban or even found guilty, they could still withdraw the race licence.

James Kaye and AmD will switch to an S2000 Honda Civic from Snetterton onwards. In other news, Andy Neate has been testing his Cruze and should finally make his season début at the same event. Rob Collard's son, Ricky (who some may remember crashing heavily in a Ginetta Junior race last year at Oulton Park) has been seriously injured in a karting accident, but is recovering well in hospital.

Just seen that on TV. Looked like a hard hit.

Looks like the Hondas will be struggling today. Should be good for the championship fight. Can Tordoff get a win?

I'll be impressed if he can keep Plato at bay both at the start and when the tyres start to go off, and if Triple Eight don't use team orders to boost Plato's championship chances, but this is definitely his best chance so far. Perhaps Turkington will hold the key in the fast-starting BMW from P5?

Ooooh an American. Fancy! :p

Seriously it's great to have international drivers on the grid. Someone should tell Robb that you don't need to namedrop sponsors at every opportunity over this side of the pond though ;) . I hope he dials into the series and gets a few good results.

Bit iffy trying to hang on round the outside of Riches but I wouldn't call it Griffin's fault.

Turkington got a good start there.

I love how the corner names are on signs. I think more circuits should do that.
