So this year F1 will now be broadcast in the states on the NBCSports network as well as Indy Cars. Unfortunely I don't get that TV station. My question is, do you know of anywhere on the internet I will be able yo watch either one??? Delayed is ok I just want to watch them.
Hate to even ask this and probably shouldn't...but I will: are there any website someone can PM me and tell me where I can find them. I have missed Indy cars that last two years because of it and now with F1 going that way, I don't want to miss them anymore!!
Thanks,
Neuz

They are not doing a great job at reassuring people that they will be covering it somehow. Information is even scarcer up in Canada. I have heard talk that it will be on a channel that is normally outdoorsy stuff like hunting and fishing. Best of luck to us all.

There's some sites but I think the NBC Sports website is going to have some streaming of both... not sure if its just going to be unaired quali/practice footage...

But info is pretty scarce so far. I'm not really sure what there is to gain by waiting to tell people how the new F1 coverage will be...except maybe suspense...guess we'll get more info as the season goes on. (or starts, lol)

I'm actually kind of worried to see what is going to happen now that indy is opening for some F1 races (and possibly vice versa, depending on the continent they're on)... What if they only have like 30~min of buffer time before the race starts, and the 1st race has an extended caution? Are they just going to cut the coverage of the first?

I see that as being a very far fetched possibility, but hey, it could happen :p

NBC Sports Group will televise all F1 races, as well as qualifying, practice sessions, studio shows and re-airs that amount to more than 100 hours of programming annually. NBC Sports Live Extra, available online at NBCSports.com, as well as on mobile and tablet apps, will serve as the Formula One live-stream platform.

Ok..Here's the deal with NBCSN online coverage.
You must have a subscription with either a satellite or cable company and use your ID from that to get the 'Live Stream'.
Just like the Olympics. They use Microsoft Silverlight and it's buggy as hell.
(at least it was for the Olympics however at 4am / 8am on a Sunday you might be ok traffic wise)
One good thing NBCSN has done is move the channel to the basic tier on DirecTV so that would potentially be the best way to acquire the station.
You could email them and ask for more info...nbcsportshelp@nbcuni.com

And YES Virginia, you will be able to "find something" online I am sure.
OR..
Just send me $67.75 and join my exclusive Nigerian streaming club.
All we need is your bank account number and routing info.

I'll only give you sixty, and that's my final offer.

Throw in a couple of those Fanvision gadgets for the F1 and we've got a deal.

If you're not fussed about how long you wait to watch races, then I'm sure that indycar.com streamed full race replays last year, from the Monday onwards.

I'm not sure how well that works if you have avoided the result for 24 hours though, as you open the Indycar homepage to be greeted with a photo of the previous days race winner...

Instead of going to indycar.com you can just visit their YouTube channel direct
http://www.youtube.com/indycars

HOWEVER...
I am told that the idiots at 16th & Georgetown intend to Geo-Block it outside the USA.

That $67.75 is looking better everyday...innit?

EDIT: btw..Here is the NBCSN promo package for F1 released last week

This is quite a ridiculous situation. F1 claims that America is the biggest market, yet they farm the TV rights out to a channel that doesn't have 100% penetration.

@ Ravenak: i'll take one of those pm's along with Jp's Nigerian Streaming Club, just drafting an money order now.

I'm always watching the Live RTL stream on the RTL website all legally, which is basically just the same that is shown on tv at the same time, but you might need a proxy for that... and its german

I agree. SpeedTV was okay, because some places have that as basic cable. But I have never been anywhere that had NBCsports as basic cable.

I really wish it went to ESPN.

NBC Sports Network is on the basic package on DirecTV on channel 220... It is also on the basic Digital Starter package on Comcast.

All sessions will be available to watch on NBC Sports Network and online...

Correct. Mostly...

NBCSports will air every session of 15 races live on TV. Four races (races only) will be broadcast on the main NBC broadcast network. They will be Canada, UAE, USA and Brazil...all live.. The other sessions for those weekends will be on NBCSports. All live, all the time.

All sessions of all 19 races will also be streamed live.

Much better programming than Speed ever did.

Don't know/care squat about IndyCar races...

No offense taken.

I am just happy that NBC is bringing a good crew and keeping out Varsha and Posey. Never liked those cats.

I keep mentioning ESPN because of how much I like their NASCAR coverage. They really seem to treat the sport with respect while FOX pushes it out like it was rasslin.

Also glad that practice will be shown. It is awesome that Practice 1,2,3 and qually will be televised. Means I can set my DVR and watch everything. I wonder if the crew will commentate on it or if they will just air it? Now that I think of it, I suppose it would have to be commentated on.

ESPN treats NASCAR like that, but IndyCar? Never really has. At least it's on ABC as to not affect bowling and weight lifting competitions.

I don't really want to raise a necro'd thread, but I just wanted to update everyone that wanted to know if the practices were going to be televised...

I use a DVR on my PC, and the Formula 1 tag was left over from last year, and guest what I saw in a few weeks set to record?

I'm not sure what NBC Sports has to gain by not releasing concrete information...I guess they know we have to other choice to get the races than their network anyways (bar buying bbc//sky sports)

But I can't wait to see if they screw things up and have an overlap of indy to F1 on some of the mid-day races.

I think your right. I have seen a couple of schedules that said FP1 was Tape Delayed. I am pretty sure that is the only Taped Delayed session.

When this first was announced there was talk of live streaming as well so perhaps there will be a live stream of FP1?

I do have it on my Cable package, which is Charter Digital. Cost $95/mo with 3 DVR boxes, about 90 channels which includes all the good ones, all in HDTV if available.

My DVR says they will cover P1 & P2 on Friday, qualifying and the race live for Australia. The channel guide doesn't go far enough into the future for more than that race.

Just my own 2ยข worth, The Speed coverage was great. Far better than IndyCar. I will miss Posey, but am super pleased that Hobbs, Matchett, Buxton, & Diffey are on the new team. If NBC at least equals Speed's coverage it will keep me happy.

If you don't get it, write your cable company and squawk. They won't know anyone wants it if they don't hear from people. It's a business and they try to give customers what they want. Find out which dish networks have it and mention them in the letter.

A friend of the wife has a dish, I forgot which brand, and it works fairly well. It does lose signal if there is heavy snow or rain. I am not sure how many TVs you can hook up to it. The wife's friend only has 2 TVs. It has DVRs as part of the package. She pays about $100/mo for the TV part of a TV/Phone/Internet package that costs $175/mo. The phone and Internet come from the phone company who bundles it locally and services everything.

So is there an email or something we can write to? I'm sure if they get enough people bitching that our own home race's quali (which was previously live, now not) and others aren't live they would change it... 6:30pm? WHUT. Whatever I'll just stream from Sky or BBC (I mean switch to the channel that I bought, *cough*)

Sigh............................................................. This is gonna be a long season for us >_>

Thanks JP tho

EDIT: It is kinda cool some races are on the actual NBC channel though... we get free over the air HD for a few basic channels. HD Monaco Rain? Yes pls

Some of you will LOVE this and others will not but I for one am VERY PLEASED to hear that after enormous pressure exerted by fans SPEED may be allowing a certain previous host to do some of the races for NBC...

Just a rumor at this stage mind you...

Varsha? Please let it be so. I don't think I could listen to Diffey for a whole year.

Diffey drives me nuts. I dislike commentators who yell at me.
