No. But he looks like he had already finished quite a few of them.

Congrats for the whole team! I was leaving the apartament with 13 laps to go and I thought "he is gonna make it" - surprisingly they have wi-fi on glaciers in austria so I could confirm right away I was right indeed
Superb start of the season!

Great effort by the team and Kimi, congratulations for them

I hope that Lotus won't be eaten by Ferrari, RBR, McLaren and Mercedes in the middle of the season and development path will be fruitful. I think that any place inside TOP 3 in both contructors and drivers championships would be very good for Enstone-based team.

Surpreme race pace the Lotus has.

I really think they can contend with Ferrari and Red Bull.

If me missing the Pre season means Raikkonen turning up at his demonic best, then ill miss every pre season as long as he's in F1. :D :D

Lotus was impeccable today..Brilliant strategy..Me and other KR fans were moaning like anything on the Live Forum when KR made his first stop right behind Alonso..thought he could've stayed a couple of laps longer and gained more...but Lotus had it spot on.......If i had to nitpick on anything, the First stop looked a tad slow..anybody has the time count on that?

If one looks closely, this win today was far from being simple..

Good Start...Kimi is making this a habit now ..has made up positions consistently since mid season last year.

The 2nd Stint...As artista mentioned on the other thread,if you rewatch the race, and follow closely while looking at track position and Live timing, you'll see how brilliant he was at conserving his tires..One of the hallmarks of his racing style..In the battle with Massa,Alonso,Vettel and Sutil, he was never in the dirty air ,always maintained a 2-2.5 sec to the car in front, with a fast lap right away if the guy behind was catching up big time. While the rest kept destroying their tires following the car ahead, right behind the gearbox..This was followed by a series of blistering laps once he was in clean air .Classic KR drive

I would recommend rewatching the race to everyone...You'll be able to fully appreciate the genius at play.

I wonder how late into the year Lotus could get a big new sponsor and have it still appreciably improve their development prospects within the season.

Glad Kimi won, the car was so fast in race trim, to go from 1 second off the pace in quali to being the fastest car in race pace?

Anyone know why the car was sparking throughout the race like it was very very low indeed

The official app can be downloaded ''Free'' if You know your way around Android/Iphone apps..The cracked version is all over the internet...Also there are 3 or 4 modded versions now available that are even simpler to use.

I admit, the price of the app is absolutely ridiculously high for young people. I think it's pretty silly from FOM to get all these people out of the legal access of the thing.

But, for people with a, let's call it, stable life is payable and very useful if you're a numbers freak (if not, it's not useful). It costs about 1 euro per race (if bought before December 31st, 1.5 euros per race later on) and, let's be realistic, that's less than the coffe I drink every single morning with my work colleagues.

Yes, that's right, but Button equals Alonso's percentage. Here are the stats for top drivers (Wins from outside the front row):

Räikkönen 10/20 = 50%
Alonso 12/30 = 40%
Button 6/15 = 40%
Hamilton 2/21 = 9.5%
Vettel 2/26 = 7.7%
Webber = 0/9 = 0%

Kimi, Lewis, Seb, Fernando

If lotus give Kimi the car he will deliver, they really need to sort Quali out though because race car is and always has been good

Do not forget that Lotus was seriously quick in the opening races last year as well, they could have easily won a few more races in 2012.
That said, the difference to the other cars in the hands of Kimi was massive today, and in colder conditions, something the Lotus did not excel in at all last year. Very promising.

The car looks great on track too, it seems to have a lots of downforce and easy to drive.
Let's hope more wins are possible this season, already a great start, and a big finger up the nose to the "big budget" teams.

I think the "other Kimi" is actually Kimi´s brother Rami Räikkönen

What a race, what a win! Lotus have shown that they have at least a car that can punch up there with the best. Kudos to the team, they made not one mistake on strategy - got the calls right and helped Kimi perfectly along to the win(pitstops can improve in speed though :p ). I just knew from watching the timing screens that Kimi was in for the victory! But to actually go out there and make it work in the fashion that he did was something so welcomed to see!

It must remind everyone that the Old Kimi was never away - its the same quick as hell dude - it also reminds them that it ain't just Alonso, Vettel and Hamilton who the best in the sport - nope in fact there might be one even better than all of them :D

P.S. Anybody find themselves watching the timing screen more than the actual race visuals? lol - I find it so much easier to read a race from the timing - you can pick up whats happening immediately!

I do have laptop where i'm tracking times most of the time. Especially that directors during races nowdays sucks and show some totally unrelated shit

I would say that there is quite a chance that Webber would join Lotus in 2014 if Grosjean will underperform. He even mentioned it as a team that he could drive in if he wouldn't be in RBR

Same, you do get a much better understanding of what is going on than if you had to rely on the footage and live commentary (though that depends also on the guy doing it, brundle was much better than the guys doing this here in the us, but there is only so much he can say). For instance, it was quite obvious that kimi was pacing himself to stay 2 sec behind the sutil train, and as soon as he had clean air he started setting green sectors. Also it was looking very good when on old tires he was matching the times of those guys with fresh tires... I could not imagine watching a race without the live timing anymore

Overall a very impressive and thoughtful drive by Kimi!

Great number 2 driver!

But I don't see it happening. Let's not start crucifying Grosjean again just yet when we're only one weekend in. That said, there must be a lot of pressure on him to perform with so many capable guys outside of F1 able to come and replace him if needed.

I think the big difference (which INCLUDES racing experience in many formulae) is that Kimi is FAST and can think about and manage the package he is driving in REAL-TIME.
Romain is FAST and is able to analyse his deficiency AFTER the event.
Malaysia I believe will narrow the gap on race-day between the 2 drivers though I still expect Kimi to perform better, though not by over 60 seconds!!

Mark Slade said the following for Turun Sanomat:

Perfect balance the Key for the win

-"the car was in very good balance and that's how we control tyres so well."

-" if tyres are not easy to understand or are easily graining and you can't get car to good balance, that will destroy tyres easily. We got everything spot on,we did hit to the "sweet spot" and that's why we used tyres better than others did".

-"it was because of the balance, We got really big advantage from that". Slade said

-"on the morning of the final test day, we didn't have things in good situation but we solved them and we came here to the first gp weekend, knowing that we had a pretty good car for this track".

- Difference in tyre use between teams solved the race for our advantage.we got them last longer than others and to be honest Kimi could have in first stint gone easily much longer with supersoft tyres as well, we had no difficulties at
all to make them last, when others didn't know how to get them work".

-" we are in better shape than last year in every area and most of all in my mind Kimi is in much better shape than he was last year". Slade said

Kimi said the following:

What was the secret of your victory?

-" All weekend. We had a really good car all weekend, and had no problems at all and because of that we had chances to try different things and do setups changes. We knew quite clearly what would happend in the race because in a car you get so good feeling from the tyres".

-" we saw in friday practise, that rear tyres will last easily so we will be strong as long as we get front tyres to last...so we changed setups and tyres worked in race like they were supposed to do." Räikkönen said

Dissapointed with qualifying.

" Race went perfectly but it would have been easier if I would have started from pole. I took my qualifying lap way too carefully and made a mistake on one corner as well, if we would have had another lap with supersofts, I could have gone much quicker and started higher up".

- "Race couldn't have gone better, I got a good start, took first corner carefully against Fernando and then I took care that I will not have contact with Lewis and passed him. Important thing was also to overtake Adrian Sutil and after that it was just easy driving and taking care of my tyres" Kimi said.
