That was a dismal lap. Slower than the Q2 lap. Would start 8th. What an opportunity wasted!

We don't have single lap pace on the two of hardest pirelli tyres.

Kimi didn't delivere, that's what happened. Bad S2. He should have been at least behind Webbo. And with those two having penalites he sholud be starting 4th tomorrow. Average qualifying.

Kimi didn't have a good last lap. He was quicker in Q2.

There simply wasnt more pace on the car, practise three already showed we don't fight for top positions.

Poor middle sector. Definitely not slower than Force India. Should have been 6th at the very least.

Q2 lap would have given 4th grid position.

Very disappointing.

Come on don't be that much subjective. With his Q2 lap, he would be 4th now, and you forgot track evolution.

I'm going to be really optimistic and expect another lightning out of the sky in Q3 from KR, like in China. Grosjean seems to be getting to grips with the car too.

So that's P1 and P3. :)

Oh well.

I hope the race pace is a lot better tomorrow, not sure what they can do in terms of strategy though.

So with the Q2 lap we would start fourth? Kimi and Lotus should know one tru isn't enough for him, he always makes mistakes when it counts.

No, that's not what FP3 showed. Quite the opposite. Kimi was slower than his Q2 time set on used tyres.

Horrible quali, we start from 8th because of Hamiltons penalty but that's also bad as it's dirty side. Seems like we really struggled without softer tyres.

Webbo has penalty as well so it's 7th

it was Gro failure that he failed with lap so much.

Grosjean was held on for too late...he only got one chance in Q2..clear fail by Lotus..

Lotus at least dont destroy its suspension due to retarded car that is eating its tyres

didnt have any more fresh meds. He failed his Q2 lap and needed to spend there 2x med. If he woudl come with good Q2 lap right of the bat they would run differently

Kimi will start from 7th? Could be worse. With hopefully a good start and a Rosberg holding up the pack for a while there's still a good result possible.

It did show, Kimi had troubles against Romain unlike yesterday...in q2 kimi used two new mediums.

RoGro could do the race exclusively on new tyres.

That could be an advantage.

I'm dumbfounded. Lotus looking strong in all conditions in free practice usually carries through to Saturday and qualifying. Hell they usually manage to salvage something when they start off on the wrong foot.

Hugely dissapointing performance.

....but, they will definitely go forwards tomorrow, the question is how far, and if two or three stops will be best.

Webber has a 3-place penalty, he will start 7th. Kimi 8th. Lewis 9th.

Is the car 'nervous'?
Drivers continuously struggling to put 3 sectors together sometimes is due to that.

I thought he used 2 new sets in Q2

Their medium hold on pretty well. They would not have needed a new set. He lost time trying to pull a slip-stream stunt in the first run and he had two laps more fuel. This alone gives about 6-7 tenths to make up. And his first sector time was 0.1 s slower than his first Q2 run and middle sector was about the same. I am pretty sure that was the same set he used for the first run.

Isn't it possible that Kimi was taking it easy on the tyres because he has to go longer in the first stint? If they've decided on a 2-stop strategy, that might make sense.

Nope it was new, we see them from tv if it's new or old....Kimi used all his medium tyres, Romain has two sets of new mediums.

Now seriously, track was much colder today, thal helped MGP a lot and Lotus lost speed. But tomorrow it will be warmer so we still have a good chance. P7 is not so bad. Kimi have to pass FI fast and he will be ok for the rest of the race.Lotus is very sensitive to temperature changes .

That was a really disappointing qualifying. Grosjean should have had another lap, it was obvious. Kimi's Q3 just wasn't that good.

I have a feeling cloud cover caused some real problems for Lotus during qualifying. It seems like Lotus struggled with the cloud cover while Mercedes for example did better.

It also seems like they have changed the setup from Friday and it might not be working as well, again.

No. Either you go flat out on the fresh set of option tyres or you go on the used set and save one fresh set

Damn. Kimi wasn't happy with the setup yesterday, despite the pace. Guess they tampered with Kimi's car too much or the conditions changed too much, or both.

Webber has a 3-place penalty, he will start 7th. Kimi 8th. Lewis 9th.

Depends on how they apply these penalties. If it's straightforward Webber should be 8th, since he qualified 5th. If it's applied after Lewis's he'll go from 4th to 7th. Hope for some official clarification.
