Wasn't there supposed to be a mix of ALMS and Daytona Prototypes competing against each other in Grand Am?
Or is all that next year?

Stupid question from someone who watches 2, count 'em 2, sports car races a year.
Wasn't there supposed to be a mix of ALMS and Daytona Prototypes competing against each other in Grand Am?
Or is all that next year?
Next year. And it won't be called Grand-Am anymore by then.
Practice 2 just ended, glad that Radio Le Mans received rights to cover the event after all. They will provide commentary for today's quali sessions and (hopefully) night practice too.

Is Rubens confirmed? That is good news. He will probably be spending some time in FL with the Montoya family.
He was confirmed ages ago and yes he's driving the 911 Cup car.
Unfortunately the Corvette DPs were too fast during pre-season testing again, so Grand-Am has issued BoP penalties for them...

Why do they need 5 drivers for the race? So they can push at maximum?
It's basically pointless but allows more (rich) amateur drivers to join = better funding for teams

Always keen to see the Brumos boys do well, although I'd have liked to have seen Hurley Haywood back in there.
Mike Shank's outfit looks strong to defend their title. Ambrose will be a weapon for these guys.
And I like the lineup of Fittipaldi, Piquet and Nasr for Action Express.
Shame no current F1 guys are taking part. I know Webber is interested in endurance racing, and plans to race "one day with Porsche".

I have mixed feeling about this. He was a one man demolition derby in Grand-Am last year. Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if the regular drivers don't ask the officials to give him a warning before the race.Indeed!

He is already carrying a BoP penalty*, so I don't expect him to be as competitive anyway.I have mixed feeling about this. He was a one man demolition derby in Grand-Am last year. Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if the regular drivers don't ask the officials to give him a warning before the race.

Motors TV in the UK, SKY 413, are showing the whole 24 hours live.
Have they announced something because its not 24 hours on the Sky schedule?
Maybe it's all the stuff they can show live properly apart from the bits of the race, if its the same as last year where there was just one bloke filming the whole thing!

I see Dixon and Pruett listed for both the 01 and the 02 cars. Are they driving both or they will pick one car during the race?
Unlike other series, they're allowed to drive in both and get classified in both. Which is unfair to every championship competitor except Pruett.

No McDreamy this year? (Patrick Dempsey)
He bought an LMP2 car and is running in ALMS. Next year he'll be back.

No, his team parted ways with Mazda over the winter.
He bought an LMP2 car and is running in ALMS. Next year he'll be back.
Don't think he'll be running the LMP2 car this year, it was intended to be run with the Mazda diesel engine in the slow tubeframe 6 that's running around in GX. Right now they have a LMPC car and have put an entry in for Le Mans (but more likely in GTE-Am).

It's on from 8ish till around 4am then a break until 2pm then from there till the finish.
There'll probably be a stream of sorts if you want to watch the whole thing plus RLM will cover the whole thing I guess.

And, of course, nothing taken from the Ganassi BMW-Rileys...
