I thought they said no fuel went in AJ's car.

I thought they said the opposite...

Not sure now though...

Thanks for the greetings guys :D

It's only my second year following the Daytona 24 hundred and it's damn good fun. Whoever is going to take the checkered first in the DP and in the GT will deserve it. Top racing all around.

SPEED commentary mentioned there was a radio call to Montoya telling him to step on it as the #60 was fuelled to the end.

Love all the gaffs these Geordies make with the commentary..
Whatever they say... the opposite is what is actually happening.

Give them a break dude. They've been going for nearly 24 hours just commentating and probably been up a lot longer doing the prep. I don't mind as their overall knowledge and passion is on the money.

So... since this is nascar, one final yellow to spice things up?

So that's why Motors Tv is using their in house commentators...

Hell no.
Quick rain storm>jet dryer>Montoya>Shank wins.

The Radio Le Mans boys are commentating from the UK on a couple of second delay. They've also been broadcasting the whole 24hr between 3 of them, give them a break! I would be spouting balls too if i hadnt got my forty winks.

Well done Ganassi #01.
Very trouble-free 24 hours of racing.

Major effort from the #60.

That was fun. Congrats to the #01, #24 and #16 for the win, and the #10, #60 for that awesome lead battle one hour from the finish. Also nice GT race. G'rest to the dudes and dudettes who staid up watching the race. See ya.

Same here. Thought the GT battle was intense and went to the wire in style.

I enjoyed the race, the yellows kinda hid the fact that the BMW Ganassi were clearly faster.

Every year I keep thinking that this race is seriously underused, but then again, maybe the fact that it belongs to Grand Am (and not some world championship) makes it more enjoyable for drivers.

Congrats to Ganassi, JPM and the rest of the 01 crew. Was it me or Montoya looks fitter this year ?
Hoping he can get some wins in cup this yEar.

Calm down dear...I like Hindy and all the RLM team fine but the commentary was utter shite to the point of hilarity.
EG: OH OH LOOK, THE GT LEADER, SPIN SPIN HE"S THROWN IT AWAY..oh no, its a victory doughnut.
:rotfl:

Shame they blabbed over Varsha and crew for the whole broadcast.

The main problem was that they weren't on location, the main commentary team is in the UK (the deal came together too late to allow the full RLM team to do commentary on-site), they only had a couple of reporters at Daytona in the press room.

Awesome job by JPM and the #01 team.

BTW - AJ didn't get any fuel when they brought him in to clean his radiator's, they mentioned that like 17 times on SPEED.

edit: Sorry I forgot...... Hi to Scott's family at home.

Just under 3:30h left.

Ambrose in the #60 now (currently P3), will be pulling a double stint, with AJ to finish.

Talk of Montoya doing the final stint too. Should be exciting.

Well worth going home!

I know all the yellows get (very very) tiresome but they do normally help cause a cracking last hour!

Dont worry people, Motors TV seemly missed a DP1 lead pass while it was on screen, it was hilarous to see them go on about «Hmmm, I think that was a lead pass...», aparently the blame here as not Bob but live timming.

Yeh, can't sleep. Coffee overload. :p
Meanwhile:

"I have a lot of respect for Juan. Well, a little respect. I hate his face."

"I'm not going to blow up his head too much, cause you can see it's already pretty big, with the rest of him."

Allmendinger on JPM.

At least it was Ambrose.

Did anyone see Montoya's picture, according to SPEED?

I was rooting for Wayne Taylors team #10 Corvette. I can't cheer for JPM or Pruett since they've won it before.[sorry Watkins74]

Also congrats to Audi for winning the GT and Porsche for winning the GX.

Must congratulate the Napleton #16 and it's awesome throwback liveried GX Cayman.

Posted Image

Porsche must be thanking the GX class, their 41 year record of having a Porsche on the podium would've been broken without it.

BTW Napleton were talking about using retro liveries, maybe the Pink Porker, next year.

Audi wins the GT class ??? WAAAAAAAAAT ?? !!!!!!!!

Congrats to them .. I missed the race but I guess they stepped it up quite few notches. I remember their first race and it was memorable for their lack of pace.

Even as a big fan of RLM it is not hard for me to admit that it was one of their weakest commentaries to date... I mean it was okay considering everything and all of the issues but at times it felt like I was listening to Carlton Kirby, Marc Cole and Chris Parsons :p Hindy 's usually great but was making weird judgement calls throughout, Bradley was out of his league (never really liked him) and Trussers... you know I've always admired his enthuasism and the way he keeps up with the race, but IMO his commentary also gets very tiring after a whilr. We really don't need to be reminded about the live timing changes and pit stop situation every 15 seconds

Hindy + Daman were fine during night though. And the interviews with Gavin, Davidson etc were obviously great

Bob Varsha was a tad rusty on SPEED just as I expected (he'll come around though) but the other guys did fine job.

I wanted the 01 to win, but they had a huge pace advantage over the competition, making this win not as hard earned as previous years IMO.

I listened to the MRN team for a couple of hours when SPEED switched to online streaming only overnight.
Apart from the lack of on-track sound, they were enjoyable. I also switched to RLM in the morning, but found myself hunting for the SPEED commentary streams after a while. I admire their passion, but too many inaccuracies, missing a lot of what was being shown on-screen, and had a very "pub darts" vibe to it.
They have a loyal following though. I'm glad their fans stuck up for them when the announcement was made they wouldn't be covering the race.

Yeah I think it was, you couldn't see practically anything (even when the sun came up). However they could've restarted it a lot earlier. 1h45min was a bit overkill

It cleared up for a brief while after about an hour but then it settled again. I suspect the prolonging at the end was the classic problem with cautions in American endurance racing, the whole field diving for the pits and then having to be reorganized behind the SC before the restart.

Damn. The Michael Shank #60 failed post-race inspection and has had to forfeit their third place and prize money.
Team docked 30 championship points.
Dinger, Pew, Negri, Wilson docked 30 points.
Manufacturer Ford docked 30 points.

Reason: Engine adjustments that resulted in performance levels outside the maximums.

The hits just keep on comin'.

Had they won the category there would've been no penalties, whatever the infringement... as seen by the illegal GT win of last year NASCAR won't change the results if it means different winner, but gladly does it when anyone else is in question.

Not thay I don't think that this penalty was justified.

For me, one of the highlights of the race was Hinchcliffe's impression of Kimi Raikkonen. I honestly thought Kimi was in the booth with the Speed announcers.
