Hi, it's Davide Marchi, journalist of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Italy's most famous sports daily newspaper.
I renew my request that is on from years.
Do somebody have the Indy 500 rookie test entry lists of the F.1 period (1950-1960)?
Is there an Internet link to a very good Indy 500 data base?

Thanks
Davide

Have you tried contacting David Donaldson, historian at the Indy museum?

No such thing. Drivers tests ("rookie tests" is an informal colloquial term) were performed impromptu and on site whenever the need arose. General entry lists were published in the event programmes, yearbooks and (in truncated form) in many newspapers at the time, but driver assignments often changed before or during the month of May.

That must get confusing between the two of them.

And of course some drivers took their tests but either failed or never attempted (for whatever reason) to qualify eg Trévoux in 1941 and Fangio in 1958. Graham Hill took his in 1963, decided against trying to qualify and didn't go back until 1966.

I wouldn't have tried to qualify that Mickey Thompson thing myself. Graham had a sense of self-preservation.
