The car which shows stronges performance needed to win races. It's not only race pace or qualifying or both. You take into acount driver performance and mistakes and team mistakes as well, and unlucky situations beyond competitors control. How are you defining fastest car for Melbourne? Will it be the team with the highest average starting grid position, the team on pole, the race winner, or the team that posts the ultimate fastest lap during the entire weekend?

...if so, than wait till June before we can discuss it based on track performace of three months. The car which shows stronges performance needed to win races. This, unfortunatelyBased on my own arbitrary analysis, I'd say that if things stay as they are, RBR have it in their pocket, easily--but I'm by no means an expert on judging these things.

I would be pleasantly surprised if the Enstone team turns out to be the fastest, given the fact that they have the least resources.

If I'd wager a guess, Australia would suit McLaren, but Malaysia RBR and Lotus. Ferrari I am not sure about, they are a constant.

mclaren has some unfinished business in pits, lost hamilton and button cannot drive well in not best machinery
lotus seems very good prepared, but god knows how they are competitive in development race thats achilles heel for Lotus
ferrari although massa has that best fastest lap, i am not convinced, that car is okay, i think this year is crucial for domenicalli career sometimes big pressure is not good, if vettel lands 4th WDC alonso will be pissed
mercedes is one big unknown, they could do brawnGP with strongest driver pairing, the probs are too much captains no privates
i would be happy if kimi wins this season

Another one should follow after the first third of the season, which should give a better view on the car performance. Obviously the cars will be different then.

Ferrari have the race pace. McLaren best qualifying pace (though not the drivers to show it), Red Bull have the best combination of short and long run pace.
It's not 2012 anymore I think it might have changed, for instance equal qualifying and race pace for all 3 cars (and I mean really equal)
I voted McLaren, but it is just a gut feeling, I haven't even tried to analyse the data we got from the testing.

Actually, they were quite fast in Australia, but had two drivers who drove like amateurs.Could depend on track. In 2008 Ferrari was average in Australia, yet dominant in Malaysia.
That being said, it's probably Red Bull, closely followed by Lotus, McLaren and Ferrari.

I voted, but the poll doesn't show who voted for what, so come Melbourne I shall claim to have been right anyway.
I haven't even voted but I'll say that ;)

I have a feeling it will be Red Bull and Ferrari, with McLaren, Merc and Lotus filling the next level.
I would be pleasantly surprised if the Enstone team turns out to be the fastest, given the fact that they have the least resources.
They've spent more than Merc the last few years actually.

Therefore, I'd say that the real battle is RBR vs Ferrari, with perhaps RBR currently being fractionally ahead.

Qualyfiying : Mclaren
Race pace : RB

Even if either Lotus or McLaren have the fastest car, it wont matter, since neither teams have a driver who can fulfill its whole potential
Yer, because neither team has a WDC who knows how to get the job done with a fast car...

Your definition of fastest car is very different to others.Ferrari has the fastest car, they've driven the fastest laptime so far, nothing more to say. Don't understand how Red Bull can get so many votes, based on what exactly? Last season perhaps?

There's a difference between fastest car and best car.
And there's a difference between doing the fastest lap and having the fastest car.

There's a difference between fastest car and best car.
There is. But the only difference is reliability. You simply cannot predict that per-season.
