Most likely Vettel, but Button and Alonso have great chances too. And you can't count Kimi out.

I'd like to see a different champion though, would be good for the sport.

Not necessarilly, there are other records possible.

Started as a "fun" thread but if we come to REALLY thinking about this I reckon Sebastian is the one to beat.
Yeah right, Mark will get equal treatment, ever bought a pack of Red Bull with HIS face on the packaging?
McLaren have taken a step backward (in my humble opinion) Hamiltom OUT, Perez IN - weaker team and qualifying will be difficult, I forecast a STRUGGLE.
You NEED to be on the 2 front rows on race-day, Jenson & Sergio are NOT noted for their qualifying performances.
FERNANDO is always a threat, Ferrari will not be far away, certainly challenging for the Constructors Trophy, with Felipe a LOT CLOSER to Fernando, politics anyone?
Loving Lotus F1, Kimi will be consistently at the sharp end and Romain WILL improve on race-day, the DARK HORSE & SPOILERS.
Still we do not know the 2nd Force India driver, Bianchi or Sutil?
Teams to watch in mid-field?
Williams with Maldonado & Bottas have the potential for the FAST & THE FURIOUS, equally they could become GRAND THEFT AUTO, I'll go for the former.
Toro Rosso need to CLIMB, and then the DREAM TEAM driver pairing, Rosberg and Hamilton.
PLEASE give them a stallion NOT a donkey, my DREAM DARK HORSES, either driver pushing to the limit and clinching the 2013..................................
Then I wake UP and realise it's a ...............dream/nightmare (as appropriate for YOUR team) :smoking:

I still think Vettel and RBR are the team to beat. Lewis might have done Vettel a huge favor by moving to Mercedes for this season. Ferrari depends on how what kind of car the F138 turns out to be.

Lotus could be up there at certain circuits. Sauber and Williams are the two X factors for me.

I would go for Kimi.

He showed last year that he still has blazing speed on Sundays, and in a Lotus that was reliable and consistently fast. Kimi has only really had that combination of a reliable and consistently fast car in 2003, 2005 and 2007 - obviously resulting in 2nd, 2nd and 1st in the WDC. Of course, Lotus need to find some extra pace to really put him in the right position. But looking at what they did from '11 to '12, it seems to me as if James Allison & co. have really found the key, and I would be surprised if they didn't pull in another 1-2 tenths on McLaren and Red Bull. And with Grosjean hopefully getting through first corner this year, he will be able to take away some points from the opponents (or, does he take away more points from them by not making it through first corner?), if not fighting for the championship himself as well.

But overall I see a really tight championship - again, which will come down to 'who can finish off strong', and in my mind there is still nothing that beats Kimi's run at the end of 2007, claiming 9 podiums in 10 races, 5 of them wins. I think he can bring the heat.

It would take a brave man to bet against Vettel at this stage IMO. I only really see Alonso as a major threat, and that will require Ferrari to string an entire season together in a way it hasn't managed since the mid-2000s.

Though part of me would love to see Maldonado in amongst it as well, that would make it interesting.

Vettel's most likely - it's not worth even trying to justify.
Then Alonso - if the Ferrari is decent (better than last year) he obviously has a good chance.
Then Button - if Mclaren get it right.
Any of those 3 wouldn't be a shock.

Anything else would be a surprise to me - Kimi and LH obviously have the ability, the surprise would be if their cars were good enough over a whole season. Perez beating JB would be a surprise in his first season at Mclaren (might happen, obviously), Massa or Webber beating their team-mates even more so.

In favour of Vettel: the car seems to suit him much better now compared to beginning of 2012, and he wasn't really performing poorly then either. Add to that higher maturity, even more self-confidence and he will be lethal. The team is reliably excellent in their strategic calls.

In favour of Alonso: the car must be better than at the start of 2012. But will that result in more points than during 2012? That depends on the amount of cockups by the other teams. Ferrari is also excellent in their strategic calls.

In favour of Button: the car seems to be a quick one, and if the end of 2012 is anything to go by, he should be competitive. Question is: will he keep it together over a whole season? The team is not the most solid one in terms of reliability...

In favour of Kimi: consistency is superb, race craft equally so. Will he be there in qualifying though? Does the team have what it takes?

Bottom line: no idea, but my money would be on Vettel.

Perez or Button cause that would really mess with Hamilton's head.

No. Just No. Ferrari hasn't been too good with this since the days of Michael Schumacher.

Apart from Canada and maybe Britain, they were excellent last year... at least with Fernando.

Alonso.

Vettel and the McLaren drivers fight for the front most of the year, but Perez and Vettel have some tangles, giving Alonso the upper hand. Kimi and Lewis take points off them all at select races.

What a ridiculous reason.
