Also according to a Google search:
Gilles Villenenuve - 1.57
Tazio Nuvolari - 1.60
Alain Prost - 1.65

At the other end of the scale:
Jochen Rindt - 1.83
Nigel Mansell - 1.80
Damon Hill - 1.82
James Hunt - 1.85

The last four were really tall to be successful racing drivers. I was trying to find the height of Stirling Moss as he must be pretty tiny.

Senna 1.76
Mansell 1.74
Hamilton though quoted 1.74 is no more than 1.72, looks more 170-1.71.
Jacques was 1.68 as too was Montoya and he was 74kgs.

Seems there have been more and more taller drivers coming in, as about half of the grid is 180 or taller. No super tall drivers like Justin Wilson in the line-up though.

Maybe becouse the driver´s weight isn´t as important as the money brought with the driver ;)

Lewis seems to have added more body fat since 2007 which is surprising given the amount of weight lifting and cardio he does. I would have expected him to be ripped like Bruce Lee. I follow him on facebook and twitter and he's constantly training.

I think every driver trains consistantly. It´s just that not everybody has to write and talk about it every day.

Off course they all train but one would think they would be ripped and shredded but surprisingly they are not.

They're not as muscular as you think though. The taller guys are a lot thinner because they have to be down to a certain weight.

Muscle is heavy so they don't want to be ripped.

F1 drivers don't want muscle mass but muscle endurance, too very different things. Being muscular isn't the way to be, as others have said loads of CV/endurance training is more important than "hitting the weights".

Mark's now the heaviest driver in F1.

And he's a gaunt skeleton.

:(

They have GOT to do something about this before some tall young lad develops a major eating disorder...

Ban power steering.

IIRC, trulli had a power steering failure in first year of CT and had to retire, the forces on the steering wheel is too much due to high cornering spd and tire width

If they didn't have power steering the cars wouldn't get to that point though.

The whole front suspension and steering rack would probably be set up and designed very differently. Less caster, lower steering ratios.
