As we already have a "design the livery" and a "design the track" thread, I thought this could be an excellent way to pass this sleepy time of the year before the first races

This is the template, you can create everything you like (a minimum dose of imagination is required, don't just ape an existing helmet design)
You can use any program you want, Paint, Photoshop, Gimp....



Let's see how this develops and then we'll establish the deadline for the competition (however it could be nice if people kept posting designs also after the end of the competition)... now that I think of it, it could be a monthly trophy

I'd say three designs eleigible for the championship for each user, what do you think?

I've always loved the look of the Repsol Hondas (Moto GP) - this is an attempt to transfer them to a helmet - not sure if the colours are quite right though...

maybe with black or white or grey (from the inside) instead of blue. Just one colour too much I think.

Actually, come to think of it, if I were a driver today, I think I'd just get a black helmet and keep it black - maybe one of those cool "matte" black helmets.

The whole purpose of the graphics was, originally, to allow us to distinguish drivers - but the graphics have become so complex and the number of variations that drivers run so numerous that it rather defeats the purpose... if you wanted to stick out today, a plain black or white helmet would be the way to do it.

To be fair that could also be the Peace flag, or just a generic rainbow. I enjoyed the Italian Peace Flag. It made anti-war demonstrations amusing.

I guessed that from the attractive drivers thread you created . It's a nice helmet, if a driver wore it they would definitely stand out from some of the bland ones you see on the grid.

all of my helmets WERE made by my own, first is a gradient, second was a gay pride flag I admit I could have drawn it myself tho would have made no difference and the third one was one of the pictures I made for deviantart and putting filters over it... so stop saying I wouldnt have made it my own

the logos I added were indeed pictures partly at least (xtrax, pokemon, 3dfx)... cause I wanted to put sponsors on my helmet.. but I dont really understand your critique

I didn't copy paste most of it, the gradient part wasn't copypasted and I'm sorry not everybody is such an expert with photoshop or with drawing as you I don't have a draw pad thing.... and I won't draw with my mouse... what I will use is shapes, what I did (the hearts and the Star) from photoshop...

like I said the glass thing was a filter I put over it I didnt even know there was something like that on the first page... I just took the filter I liked... the one on the first page is much better than mine anyway

dont get what you getting so annoyed about, this contest is all for fun... but yes it took some time to work even if you copy paste you have to erase the surroundings... I'm mildly offended by you stating my work would be worth less, just because I dont have awesome skills and use the ones I have instead... takes the fun out of this...
