Did you steal that from Jim Thurman's entry hall?

See, Jeff grew up in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower, becoming the first French NASCAR champion.

WTH did that come from? Artichokes? A pomegranate?

Edit: the power goes out around here and I forget how to spell!

I might need to break out some MS paint.

Have at it! I particularly like that "BK" waistline with the alluring hint of gut in the Evel Keneval picture. May have to do some cropping...
Just sayin'.

You can't just say that and nothing else.

I was very young. Like, literally "Sir, everyone must be 18 to be in the casino" "but it's a baby" "he's underage" "he can't gamble!"

Apparently my parents then hid me in a backpack.

I got my first driver's license today at 2 months shy of 22 years old. I am now one step closer to becoming a Nascar driver, and one step further away from being an ARCA one. I think the over/under should be how many laps into the race the entire viewing population of the race is asleep, considering I doubt the new cars will make 1.5 mile tracks any more exciting.

Having a NASCAR license has almost nothing to do with having a driver's license for the streets.

Thanks? I was almost certain no one would take that post seriously.

That was a short story but one definitely worth hearing.

No bet, I was just going through the fifty thousand or so random images I've saved on my hard drive over the years and found:

which seemed appropriate to wear for this season. I was fairly whacked out on a substance that shall remain nameless at the time I made this decision but nevertheless I stand by it.

IIRC you first posted that when Sparkle was leading the Montreal NNS race, so it was appropriate in a way...

Wtf. I hadn't even heard the comments until the fine announcement. And are they going to DQ Edwards for wishing they'd take the downforce off the cars? That implies the OMG GENERATION 6 VEHICLE OF ORGASM isn't actually perfect.

The comments were right on, and he mentioned the teams haven't got the handle on the new car, which is to be expected and not an indictment of NASCAR. Must be ratings sensitivity with some of the tracks coming up. I guess he's also got past record going against him having been fined 50K for tweets about phantom cautions in the past.

IT'S ON

Denny Hamlin

This is the most upset and angry I've been in a really long time. ... It was an opinion, not even a bad one

I'm not going to pay the fine. If they suspend me, they suspend me at this point.

This is something that was absolutely nothing that got blown into something, and it's just going to be worse for them.

Q. Just to clarify on that. When he (Hamlin) does appeal (the fine), does it also go to the National Stockcar Racing Commission and then to the chief appellate officer?

ROBIN PEMBERTON: This isn't any different than an illegal part or piece.

There you have it folks......

I'm having problems to access jayski and speed, but I understand JJ complained about the last restart of Phoenix.

The fact that it could even get to that point or be mentioned in the same sentence is what I find ludicrous.

Denny wasn't even all that critical. I'm paraphrasing but he basically said the Gen6 car handles like the COT when it first came out. It's too aero dependent and you can't pass. He didn't use any harsh language or fault anyone. Yet NASCAR penalizes him. That's bullshit. I 100% back Denny Hamlin in not paying the fine. Call their bluff. If they suspend him, I'll start the "Free Denny" campaign myself.

EDIT:

Here's the comment taken from a jayski article (LINK) :

Q: How much did you learn about the new race car today?
Hamlin: "We learned a lot. I don't want to be the pessimist, but it did not race as good as our generation five cars. This is more like what the generation five was at the beginning. The teams hadn't figured out how to get the aero balance right. Right now, you just run single-file and you cannot get around the guy in front of you. You would have placed me in 20th-place with 30 (laps) to go, I would have stayed there -- I wouldn't have moved up. It's just one of those things where track position is everything."(3-7-2013)

They won't suspend him if he doesn't pay, they'll probably just take it directly out his race purse, I would assume. Or Gibbs would pay it before it escalated.

I don't get what NASCAR's thinking process is with this fine. Even Denny Hamlin haters would say that this is bullshit.

Jimmie is STILL going on about that restart? He should build a bridge and get over it like everyone else did when he "accidentally" tore his car up celebrating.

Why though? He's given a penalty, the only way to fix it is to appeal.

I agree , DONT pay the fine Denny and we'll see if Nascar suspends you. And if they do i have no doubt any Nascar official involved in the suspension will NOT be within 200 miles of Richmond come April when the races are in town.

In fact you could see a mass BOYCOTT of fans that could end up costing Nascar far more than the fine.

Any NASCAR license holder (driver, owner, crew, media, on site sponsor rep, etc) can be punished for anything that NASCAR feels is detrimental to the sport. Section 12-1 of the rulebook. I'd look for Fed Ex and/or Toyota to weigh in on this behind closed doors, suggest and have Hamlin file and appeal then let him off with a warning.

As for the Vegas Cup rate, they're already starting to paper tix to insiders in town and general hotel staff. I'd reckon they'll claim sellout but occupancy and visitor volume has trended down.

Does that means BK also on 2014 Daytona Sprint Unlimited ?

Poor Mike Bliss & Team travelled all the way to Vegas and DNQ.

Really? We already had one Practice and I saw this on Jayski.

If first practice is run, but qualifying is unable to take place, the starting lineup will be based on speeds from the car's fastest lap from the first practice, with top-36 in speeds placed in that order. The next six cars use provisionals with the highest on owners points (previous season first three races, starting race 4, current season owners points), not already in the race via speed getting a spot. Then the those six cars are lined up by fastest speed in practice. The 43rd spot is for a past champion to use, if needed. If not, the next team eligible for a provisional gets the spot

We actually have had 2 practices so I am not sure how they do it.

Edit: From what I see on Jayski now you're right. :)

The second prop is also an over/under, but with a twist.

Take Danica Patrick and Ricky Stenhouse's qualifying positions (disregard going to the back due to engine changes/backup cars). Now add them together.

Will the sum be OVER or UNDER 40?

7. Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
37. Danica Patrick
=44.
Congratulations to the bettors who picked the OVER.
Actually, I think it was just Watkins and I. Tomorrow we settle.

Sad that Kevin Swindell won't be able to qualify for the NW race due to the rainout, especially when considering the car's sponsor.
